Daggers are much faster.

Daggers are much faster.
Which means this:
More poison procs. More Combat Potency procs. More dps procs.

More dps procs.
What do you mean by this? if you mean DPS trinket and mongoose procs then you're clearly wrong, since those are based on PPM (procs-per-minute) basis

Itemization, for the most part.

That was a joke...

Where's the punchline?
This isn't the place for jokes. It's a thread asking for an explanation. I'm all for fun and games, but when a harmless joke interferes with one's understanding of the question at hand, it becomes a hassle and a nuisance which others must disambiguate for sake of misinformation.

because poison and combat potency procs ARE dps procs. i thought it was blatantly obvious.

yayayayay at least one person got it
But seriously, if you can find a good off-hand fist go for it. Daggers are just a bit more plentiful, and tad more useful.

lol you guys should get off Kelborn
More specifically people end up with fist/dagger because of the changes to
Dagger Specialization
.

tbh dagger/fist is a good combat spec, never tried it myself but i got so bored of combat, its so easy to do and i fancied a challeng,so if all you combat rogues wanna respec go mutilate in ten mans then gear up and go HaT spec with another rogue in 25 mans, you watch ya dps fly up the meter, for example with duel sword combat i was doing 1700 dps on bosses and with muti im doing 2.4-2.5 so its a huge improvement
im not judging fist dagger as i may one day try it out for myself
In my experiences Assassination and Combat appear to be on par with each other for the most part. The main difference is the Murder talent, as some bosses are "un-Murderable". Also it should be noted that Assassination is a
burst
damage spec, whereas Combat is a
sustained
damage spec. In trash clears and you basic "tank 'n spank", Assassination can easily outperform Combat. But in those longer fights, and especially against targets un-Murderable, you'll see Combat step ahead a bit.
Player skill and keeping up good rotations is a major factor tho. A fist/dagger spec adds the sustained damage output expected of a Combat build, with an increase in poison procs that's favored in an Assassination build.
What it really comes down to is personal preference. I just like the look of a fist wep with a dagger tbh. But then again, dual weilding daggers as Mut spec makes me feel a little more "rogueish". Just like making my own poisons did... /sigh.

Well you know, you can just have the MH fist and you will still get the 5% crit benefit regardless of the OH. People don't choose the dagger OH for the talent if they have a fist MH.
I think like most of the thread has stated, faster weapon is more procs and poison applications. Also another benefit would be cheaper Shiv cost should you ever need to Shiv for any reason in PvE.

I've found just about the opposite in my experiences. With assassination spec I found my trash dps terrible because of no aoe while combat has killing spree and blade fury to help increase thier multi-target dps.
When it came to single target dps I was using
Kel'Thuzad's Reach
and
Webbed Death
in the standard combat fist/dagger spec and
Webbed Death
and
Omen of Ruin
for assassination
My testing (patwerk) I did about 400 more dps in assassination spec than I did in combat even though my combat weapons are better. Running my gear through a spreadsheet too I found that assassination should pull about 500 more dps than combat in my current gear.

People don't choose the dagger OH for the talent if they have a fist MH.I mentioned it as a reason that they can use daggers in the offhand if they're faster than a fist offhand... That is all, I meant that before the two were separate talents and now they're put together (which leads to a broader itemization).I think like most of the thread has stated, faster weapon is more procs and poison applications. Also another benefit would be cheaper Shiv cost should you ever need to Shiv for any reason in PvE.I wasn't denying this
at all
...
Also I like how Arideni thought "nutz" would be too offensive in my post so he decided to edit it out...
