Why is fire being ignored? (pvp)

Over the last few posts its always been arcane or frost or arcane or frost? deep freeze or shatter combo or slow or AB? why is fire being ignored?
I do realize playing fire in pvp is very difficult. less survivability from both specs - less freezes, no multiple ice barriers, no slow, no instant invisibility - but it doesnt mean its not viable for pvp no? note that i am talking out of experience, this isnt theorycrafting.
i mean the fact that you have 4 instant casts is pretty huge burst. blast wave, flamestrike, dragons breath, flamestrike (assuming firestarter is part of the tree, which it should be considering its pvp) and guess what, its aoe burst as well, so good for those battlegrounds. 5 instant aoe casts if you count living bomb, one of the most mana efficient spell a mage has.
hot streak allows for instant pyros, and i may add it procs more than u think it might. and blazing speed adds that much survivability against melee opponents. fire has the huge raw dps, it doesnt have to wait until your opponent is frozen or if your PoM pyro and arcane power is on cd. all our CDs are pretty descent.
or if u like u could ditch living bomb, take presence of mind and have another definite instant pyroblast in your arsenal! there are other benefits to the fire build which i will not cover, but i guess what im trying to say is give it a shot, who knows u will like it? :)
its not as bad as ppl think, and for those who dont even bother trying fire because they read alot of anti fire forums for pvp, give it a go and judge for urself. dont ignoer the spec just because most people dont give it a chance! id like to see more fire pvp mages out there >:)

When you say PVP, you probably have BGs in mind. When some say PVP, they probably mean Arenas.
That's why.

The major major problem fire will always have in arena PvP is that instant cast spells work well....when you can keep a distance. only one fire mage spell thats instant cast works out that way, living bomb. others are melee range AoE/cone effects that are barely usable because if you are fire and in melee range you are pretty much toast and already dead meat

Fire is not that
bad
for PVP, but you need l33t skills, since your defenses are offensive skills.
"Omg, a rogue shadowsteped me!" => Blast wave, Go away
"Omg, a warr charges me!" => DB in his face
As a personal experience, Healers are very easy with fire. Start scorching, and when you get the stacks pop 2 fireballs and then they should be around 60%, CS their next heal, scorch, fireblast, get close, if they start healing pop DB, Fireball, Blast wave if they start casting, and by that time your CS should be up again.
Rest of classes will have an easier time with you, especially "bursty" classes.

Me, I'm just curious what the healer is doing while you're standing still for at least 9 seconds casting spells at him.

Again let me think we are not speaking about BG but about Arena fight.
The only things that you may find useful on Arena is your survivability. Nor damage, nor crit, nor haste etc. Spend some time analyzing your fire build to find out it got approx nothing to defend you against burst attack. Burning determination (preventing silence) is the first and the last thing of this type, and it seems to be not so useful against melee troops.
You may find useful arcane instant invis and improved blink. You may find useful your ice barrier and ice block cd's decreased...
But your living fire bomb will live much more than yourself.
