Yes because if you manage to pull agro from the tank because he's got incompasitated (knockback, in the air, frozen, wing buffet whatever) and you pull... and wipe the raid, you wont have to worry about being laughed out of the guild, they'll just drop /gkick you.
Old example but a good one. Old WoW, Onyxia. Hunter just Pew pew'd his little heart out. Never fd. Well the tank looses agro now and then (wing buffet) however the hunter never looses agro, eventually did surpase the tank, ony turns, and.... down goes half the raid due to a flame breath.
Viosear, at what point did I say "so ya can be lazy and not watch it". I did give options as to "what you can do incase you get to high". Such as change to a weapon that will DECREASE your agro... or slow up on the DPS. Why decrease agro, well once theres a nice gap again, switch back. Weapons can be swapped in combat, trinkets that lower agro cannot, but you already knew this...
And "slowing down on DPS". Tell me which is more effective. A shaman who does 150DPS overall and lives the hole fight... er 5 minutes. Or a shaman that did 200DPS full time and deid a minute and half into the fight because he got 1 shotted.
Because changing the OH buff is going to get someone /gkicked... Or swapping to a dagger that lowers threat. I mean think about what you're saying...
So next time, read, and don't assume.
Edit:And actually, your first post offered nothing the OP wanted. He wants to stay somewere on the threatmeter. You tell him to just WF, WF, WF and watch the threat meter. So were is the answer he wanted? From what you said... just atk and who cares what happens. So "oh so wise one" (thats sarcastic), what should he do when he's starting to round 2nd place and heading on to 1st? Stop atking? Just keep WF..? I offered a viable answer that allows him to control his threat position, you offered advice for a PvP situation IMO.
Edit: Well I found my answer. You clearly state, in another thread that if your threat gets to high to stop DPS. Oh that'll be a fun conversation with the guild...http://www.wowhead.com/?forums&topic=4474&p=52604
If you're about to pull threat then you need to stop attacking, it's as simple as that. That about made me laugh. Do you actually play a shaman or do you just give random advice? Not being mean, im serious. Do you play the class's you give advice on or do you assume you know..?
