EMfH isn't a PvE tool, and a lot of aspects it can be used for, you can use WotF as well anyway.
Tauren tank, anyone? 5% extra base health isn't exactly laughable, especially at earlier gear levels (fresh 80s). Arcane Torrent is a bonus to any class, just for the energy/mana regen.
Night elves can't use Shadowmeld in raids nowadays, if I'm not mistaken (I may well be, I don't play them). Draenei heal once every 3 minutes, or constant Troll regeneration?
Realistically, none of the racial traits are useful in end-game raiding, certainly, they're not game-breakers. For levelling, you can compare War Stomp and Arcane Torrent to Shadowmeld and Diplomacy, in terms of how OP they are. I'd say the balance is actually pretty fair at the moment.

Wow, there's a lot of agrument over this.
Racials have change so much since Vanilla and a lot of people are still basing there thoughts on there original perceptions of the racials. Example, I always see an Alliance player forget that the Tauren health boost was changed to base making it
less
useful. It still beats Find Treasure as a passive eh!
In the past
, I have always considered Horde racials to be far better than Alliance in terms of
PvP
. But, with recent and up coming changes, I now believe that Alliance racials now
challenge
Hordes in
PvP
. As has beens said before, Horde's can ge generally sumed up as being offensive and Alliance's as being defensive.
Anyone can prove which is better in PvP.
As for
PvE
, it depends on what roles you consider and compare the passive to active. In terms of active abilities (which are more significant and game changing I believe), I think Horde have got it better...
You have Blood Fury, Arcane Torrent, soon to be Beserking. All are great no question about it. War Stomp is very situational and I've seen clever tanks make great use of this.
WOTF is not compareable to EMFH in PvE so lets not go there.
Alliance have Stoneform which is simply amazing. Gift of the Naaru is a nice complement also. But apart from that, I don't see many uses for Escape Artist and people are always complaining about the use of Shadowmeld (Amazing for PvP though I must say).
But its a different story in terms of passive abilities. Where I think Alliance are favored.
Both sides have their defensive spell hit reduction so lets call that equal. (Not counting Blood Elf's).
Alliance have 5% Intellect and 3% Spirit. Night Elfs Quickness is great. Draeni's aura is sweet also. Diplomacy... Expertise from 2 races also.
Trolls's Regeneration is a joke. Tauren base health increase is poor. But, Blood Elf's Magic Resistance is compareable to Night Elf's Quickness so thats good. Orcs are great with their Expertise and increased Pet damage but its all situational on class. Undeads are not useful. And thats about it.
Thats my 2 cents. Alliance for PvP, Horde for PvE. But at the end of the day, people will mix and match their class / race to gain the benefits so who cares.

but its all situational on class
I think that sums it up entirely. For example, I don't see any benefit from the Spirit boost, but I play a Prot Paladin. 5% base or total, I would still love to have the extra health - every bit counts. War Stomp would've been awesome for levelling, to have an AoE stun. A Tauren's racials would've been great, since I mostly PvE.
@arcanum - they weren't supposed to match side by side, as such. I was just listing them out as they came to mind.
Anyway, my original contribution to this topic still stands. If you're comparing WotF to EmfH, then just consider whether a Human player would take an extra Insignia of the Alliance along in PvP. It's fairly safe to say they would if they didn't have shared cooldowns. If they could take a WotF trinket along, they probably would if they could.
It's an additional 'get out of jail' card that would help deal with certain classes. The classes that I have the biggest difficulty with are Locks and a good Disc Priest - against both of these, I'd give up a damage-based trinket for the extra 'trinket out'. Because you don't do any damage when you're running around in circles in fear.

Have any of you ever tried to heal against a 5 belf 5v5 team? Maybe a 3 belf 3v3 team?
You can't heal during CC or after CC. That silence is a major tool for a Ret belf. It is literally what gets them kills half the time. Throw in a tauren for good measure and you have multiple spell disrupts on top of an aoe stun.
Lets see, you have, warriors, and rogues that aren't effected by silence(and they still are to a degree).....
Human's on tournament realm are either warriors or rogues. Usually rogues, while warrios are split between humans and gnomes, and priests and paladins are usually dwarves because stoneform is really handy.
There is no discussion here, this is how it is.

Healer wise, Horde definitely has an advantage. Having another CC breaker or interrupt is invaluable, a trinket slot doesn't measure up at all. I won't say that Horde racials are better as a better of fact, although I do believe that more DPS time / less enemy healer time would more than likely be better than an extra trinket pop.

Double Undead Rogue/Priest > Anything
...but if you insist on Alliance...
Shadowmeld at the beginning of Arena Priest + Human Rogue w/ two insane trinkets > Anything besides double Undead
Fact.
Gnomes have a potential edge over Humans when it comes to Warriors, but this is still debatable. See
http://wowriot.gameriot.com/blogs/World-of-Ming/RMP-101-Triangle-Offense-Vs-Paladin-Cleaves-The-Team-That-Passed-Up-A-Free-Vacation-In-Germany
. Still, Humans give the most potential for extra burst due to a free trinket slot, and Warriors are the one class that don't really need WotF too much in most comps.
Stoneform has been nerfed, Chastise is gone, and Fear Ward is available to everyone in an inferior form. The reign of Dwarf Priests is over, I'm afraid. As aforementioned, Human Priests can trinket up for even more spell power, on-demand haste, extreme mana conservation, or Yogg-Saron's friggin' tentacle. Now, Undead Priests basically have two seperate fear wards, one for themself and one for their Shadowfiend/partner (depending on if his partner is Undead too.)
Draenei and Troll have always been meh.

arcanum is just mad because horde used to have much better racials(prenerf wotf anyone?) and now that alliance is catching up in racial awesomeness he's getting angry and unreasonable.

they should replace WotF with "every dead man for himself" which has the same effect with EmfH :P
since undeads were humen before they died
Nah..just kidding :)
