Interesting, I'm intrigued with the concept of WoW-Chinimating, I might have a few tips and tricks that can help you out along the way. An example of these techniques is "Props and Costumes" (AKA: Weapons, Off-Hand Frills and Armor).
With the recent re-skinning of items in WoW thanks to the Cataclysm, there is a wider selection of props and costumes to get for your actors, notably the
Leather,
Mail, and Cloth. Most of these items, and similar-coloured variants of them, are all found in the Starting Zones of both the Alliance and Horde (save for the Blood Elves and Draenei Zones), you'd have to do some heavy exploring to get hold of these items alike. Weapons and Frills also can be acquired in the same fashion. However there's also the issue of
Particular Gear being available through faction-specific quests or vendors alone. Ways around this would be either three choices: Rare Spawns, Auction House, or Faction Change. The Blood Elf-designed Unadorned Chain Vest, only sold in Sunstrider Isle, has another item that shares the same skin in Bloodmyst Isle called
Silvermoon Armor, which can drop from the rare spawn
Fenissa the Assassin, the Unadorned Chain Leggings can also be purchased from "Silvermoon" Harry in Northrend for less than a silver, along with several other Blood Elf-related items. Everything else of the Blood Elf or Draenei gear can be purchased through the Neutral Auction House in Booty Bay if its available and you need it. (Need I mention the
Blood Elf Bandit Mask, and the ever-elegant
Lord Walden's Top Hat as optional costume items for whatever purpose you require them for ;D ).
One Important tip:
stay away from using heirloom items exclusively, that's the worst costume you can get for your actor(s)!, You're here to make a Machinima, not to win first place in "the worst gear competition" (no offense to you out there that do 'loom it up). To clarify, you can get away with at least 3 heirlooms, depending on what they are: Head, Shoulders, Cloaks, or Weapons, anything else would be unnecessarily hideous without a full set attached.
If you wish to inhale more information, observe my channel on Youtube for a full tutorial video of how to make a World of Warcraft Machinima.
