Wowhead Client: How is data validated?
Return to board index
I'm running the wowhead client (you're welcome for my awesome dataz (but it's the least I can do given how useful the site is)) and have been running older content, namely Tempest Keep.
Pattern: Belt of Deep Shadow
dropped a week or so ago, and I've been checking for the drop source to be updated, but it hasn't.
Could someone shed some light on the process for how data is included in to the wowhead site? My best guesses for why it hasn't been updated are:
The drop has been labeled a "Serpentshrine Cavern" drop, and at some point that gets locked so that other drop sources are automatically excluded
You require more than one data point to update the database (although I feel like this might be unlikely)
Previous expansion raid drop data gets locked at some point?
The time it takes from uploading the data to seeing it in the live database is 2 weeks+
Some combination of the above
Some insight into the process would be great. :)
I'm not very privy on the ins and outs of this process but I do know that the updates aren't "live" and it does take a data push for that information to be included in the published information.
When those pushes happen is entirely up to the administration.
I'll leave the rest for other more knowledgeable people to answer... :)
