Wowhead client location?
Return to board index
I've been a long time wowhead user, and only recently signed up so maybe I could bring my experience to help some people. I downloaded the client, the clients been working fine as far as i can tell, but..... I cant find where to open it on my computer. Its not in my wow folder or on my desktop. I tried searching my hard drive for it and got the location of the folder, but there aren't any .exe files in there. I realize this is a noob question, but entertain me, how do I open up the client lol?
Two questions that will help answer your problem:
Did you run the client when you first downloaded it? and
What was the folder called?
I did run the client, I'm not sure if there was anything i had to do specifically to enable it. basically I downloaded the client and had it run from after the installation process.
the folder was called +wowhead looter, inside there are TOC files, LUA files, an XML document, and a BLP file. Nowhere i looked i could i find anything executable. Should i just redownload and put it on my desktop or something?
The client also runs from the file you downloaded. Go to the folder you downloaded it to, and run it. You should get a bar saying something about updating, and a rocket icon in your taskbar. Double-click on the icon, and you should get a window that pops up. Go to the tools menu at the top of the window, and select "Options".
Do the following:
-Put your username and password for Wowhead in the proper fields
-Check to make sure that the live folder is the same folder you installed WoW to
-Make sure that the settings you want for the preferences are set. I recommend checking everything in there, but you may not want it to upload your character data or automatically upload when you close WoW.
The files inside the +Wowhead_Looter folder make up the addon for the game that collects the data. The client is the program that uploads the data.
Yea i got it thanks. Turns out the application itself was in the temp folder i guess that it got unzipped to.
