Wowhead user reputation

I was looking at my user profile and noticed most of my comments were purged; now, I prolly made stupid/useless/redundant additions that warranted a deletion, I'm interested in making up though to contribute keeping Wowhead a useful tool that isn't plagued with anecdotal stories like Thottbot. Yep, I have work ahead of me.
One question however, given the thumb up/down system, isn't it a possibility that some just passively troll the system by giving people the thumb down too easily? Is it recorded how many times a user has used the "-" icon, perhaps indicating a type of abuse?
Just musing..

I guess they might record that kind of thing for the moderators. Any sort of meta-moderation system carries with it the inherent risk of abuse. Generally it's up to the users of the community to determine if they want to have a site that's useful and intelligently moderated or if they want to let it go to pot. It's actually quite trusting of a site to do it -- though the possibility of success of such a system has certainly been proven (see: slashdot).
For the individual, the best thing you can do is rate up stuff you find useful every single time you're reading through the comments on an object in the database. I find myself lax in doing that oftentimes and I have to remind myself that meta-moderating is what keeps this alive :).

There are a number of ways to increase your reputation. Post funny/insightful comments, then wait for the community to take notice.
Submit screenshots. Any screenshots that make it past the review process award you reputation. Even more rep is added for screenshots that get "stickied."
However, please remember that reputation doesn't actually server a purpose, and chances will it never will. Its just a cool little widget that we decided to implement. It isn't, and should never, be used as a sort of comparison tool to flaunt, and compare against your friends.

Well, as I've said before: you've given us a number and some people can have a bigger number than others. The dark path has already been trodden upon :). Say what your intentions are all you want -- human nature will out ^_^.
