Welcome back once again to the Royal Association of Associating Associate’s things, commonly known as the Wowhead Week in Review. Long apologies for the belated posting, this weird thing called the outside interfered in our lives. (Kidding!)
First off, bad news. Unfortunately,
Frostcat has left the Week-In-Review team.
Now, good news! Fortunately,
Fathios has joined the W-I-R team to take up Frostcat’s place. Say /hello! to Fathios!
Past Week-in-Reviews:

Editorials:“It’s Pronounced “Awe-tour,”” by
SBMrClean. In his posting, he talks about Auteur Theory, a theory of filmmaking in which the director is viewed as the major creative force in a motion picture, and, as it is the director who oversees all audio and visual elements, he is more of the author than the people who wrote the screenplay. Now, how does that relate to WoW? Trying to summaries as best as I can here, SBMrClean believes that this isn’t truly right (at least for as such a wide game universe as in WoW). See his reason for thinking so at the posting, then
feel free to agree/disagree in the comments.
“PUGs Anonymous” by
Nabterayl is about PUGs, or Pick Up Groups, those oh-so-dreaded things where your healer goes AFK and your whole group dies, and your MT throws a fit and your Hunter reports your MT to a GM, which causes a fight, and so on. In the article, the author talks about why they actually like PUGs, why people hate PUGs, and a recipe for averting disaster. Among the reasons for liking PUGs, there is: “What is the M (Massively Multiplayer) in MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online (game)) about if you’re not going to actually work with the M?” “Lone Wolf Syndrome,” or “what happens if nobody communicates”.
After reading through, answer the question: Has anybody else had experiences with when you need to make a plan and put it into action? When do you feel most connected to the people on your server?Contest Posts! “Contest: 12 Killer Days of Khristmas” by
Malgayne is about the new contest, featuring Phat Lootz for each of the 12 days leading up to Khrist—I mean, Christmas! You must answer the eternal question: What does your WoW character want for Christmas?
Post your answer here! (Also, if you win the shirt, send it to me. Send it directly to me. Do not pass it to your friends. Do not collect 200 dollars (by selling it on eBay).)
“Phat Lewtz Contest – Finished” by Malgayne states the end of the Phat Lewtz Contest. The final winners were: Hoff13 and staticx91887. Congratulations to the winners!

Now to the Forums Field report. *Epic newscaster music plays*
“What odd bugs have you seen since WotLK?” by
Gorgangio is essentially what it sounds like: posting what kinds of bugs or glitches you've seen since WotLK came out. There are a few crazy examples, such as a floating mining node and randomly going from the Oculus to Westfall after DCing. Check out the thread and
post any examples you have found!
“CC is old news?” by
stalag asks a question that has been burning on my mind since the release of 3.0. It seems that CC (Crowd Control) is less integral to instances then it used to be. As evidenced by the responses, this is indeed true. You can give your own insight by
responding.
“The WoW Class Appreciation Thread,” by
Interest (Interesting...) is an example of one of the (admittedly few) well thought-out threads in Randomness. A nice antithesis to the typical “QQ nerf nerf OP!1onetwoone111q” threads, this thread is a simple way to post what you like about a class and what you believe are its best strengths. Do you have your own reasons that you like your class?
Sound off with your own opinion. “Skribs' PvP DK Handbook” by
Skribs is a stickied thread in the Death Knight forum. It is a helpful, simple guide to excelling in PvP with your Death Knight. Skribs tackles every aspect and every build in this guide, and Death Knights trying to do PvP should definitely take a look. But why just look?
Post your own thoughts, ideas and suggestions!”The YFC Official Thread (What is your favorite faction of Wrath of the Lich King?)” by
Blackboy0 is a Your Favorite Choices (YFC) thread. It is a thread where you can respond to a question like: What is your favorite ___? The thread started out asking what the favorite Achievement was, and now it asks what your favorite faction of WotLK is.
Sound off on the thread and give Your Favorite Choice.“Good Addons” by
DruidsDoltBest is a beginners thread to addons. If anyone has any questions or problems concerning addons, check it out over in the Beginners forum. DruidsDoltBest asks if there is a list of helpful WoW addons. The lists that have came in response by other Wowheadians would be helpful for anyone looking for helpful Addons to download. If you are one of those people, stop by, and if you have more suggestions feel free to
add them.
“Easiest Money Maker for Epic Ground Mount” by
Argoroth, like Good Addons (above), is a thread asking, basically: “How do I get enough money for my epic ground mount if I’m broke?” There are many good money-making tactics there, and anyone having gold problems should give it a look. Also, you can
contribute by telling the Wowhead community how you make money!
“The First Fight of Icecrown” by
girlcaster is an interesting idea for a raid encounter in Wrath of the Lich King. Girlcaster writes a scenario where the first fight in Icecrown is actually destroying the walls using siege weaponry. It is indeed a unique and well thought-out idea, which you can
contribute to with a comment.
“3.0.8 patch upcoming, let's talk about Steady Shot” by
Alexmetal is a topic thatwe had to give a mention. As you all probably know by now, Hunters are receiving a fairly large nerf in 3.0.8, and Hunters worldwide (such as both of us Week-in-Review writers,
Fennrahn and
Fathios) are very sad/annoyed about it. This is just one of many threads in the Hunter forum concerning this, though this one in particular is seemingly one of the most interesting.
Love it? Hate it? Sound off here. One last thing!
Random Topic of the Week:
"Hogger and Me" by
Pherry is... unique. Just check it out.
