WoWkemon and Roleplay
Return to board index
Hey, anybody have issues with pet battles in their roleplay? In-character, someone asked me what I was doing out in a swamp all alone, and I honestly didn't have an answer. I got hung up on "do we bring up the Pokemon minigame as cannon?" question.
I've thought about it, before. I actually almost started a Team Rocket guild where we would focus our guild story all around pet battles, kind of as a humorous thing. But, in a serious setting, I didn't know if I should bring up "I'm making my cockroach fight a snake, in hopes that my cockroach will become stronger" since getting a roach to lvl 25 doesn't seem like a very important asset to the Horde.
Have any of you incorporated pet battles into your RP, or have some stories on the subject to share?
We tried a moncraft RP a few times, with pokemon crossed directly into WoW (which fizzled quite quickly). But, other than that, not much.
I've considered trying to work it in, but keep getting glares at.
Of course you will, it's glorified cockfighting! People who aren't necessarily chill with that will glare at you.
I'd say that it is a practice that is a thing, personally but beyond that I wouldn't say much. It seems like it flies under the radar of most authorities so... yeah.
Keep in mind that I'm kind of liberal in admitting things in roleplay if they don't directly contradict lore or use the lore in interesting ways.
"Some idiot's Paying a lot of gold for these rare animals and who am I to deny him?"
All depends on the character; if they are an active pet breeder and want to make the strongest and most powerful pets they can, it works.
In reality, all of the mini-pet things have just been a side line to the primary story of an RP; yes you could be the Crazy Cat lady type(or whelp or whatever), but it's just one portion of the character and shouldn't be the only thing about them.
If you could set up a rp pet battle league id join to see just how it goes and see if it catches on. Just an idea
