resto shamans don't have to always use chain heals, they can heal or off-heal single targets, albeit it may not be the most efficient way to use a resto shaman to spam heal the MT, but it is doable

No, the thread is addressed to the PvE population at large, from a Shaman standpoint, I believe.

Seriously, I haven't seen any problem with shamans healing in ZA. If your shaman can't heal outside of chain healing grouped-up players, then there's a serious problem and you
should
be worried about your T5/T6 progression carrying such a mediocre player along.

ZA has provided me with an opportunity to play with 9 other players whom I know are good at playing their class and at getting through encounters.
Makes a nice change from wiping at Vashj over and over due to the 10 or so people on every raid who manage to screw it up.
As for shamans, they are fine for ZA. I take one sometimes instead of a priest.

There is some nice tanking gear you get from it that I have seen and plus the badges give you another nice bonus to gear. Don't have to run heroics all day and all night anymore.
