Account Wide Essences - Echoes of Ny'alotha Currency Details

Building on a great deal of feedback and discussion, we’re working on an update to the game. With the next regularly-scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, players who have earned a given Rank 3 Essence on one character will be able to directly obtain that Essence from MOTHER on any subsequent characters.

When playing an alt character that is missing Essences that have already been earned on a different character, most ordinary Visions of N’Zoth activities, such as Horrific Visions, Assaults, raid bosses, Mythic Keystone Dungeons, or BFA Season 4 PvP, will award a new soulbound currency – Echoes of Ny’alotha. These Echoes can be brought to MOTHER in the Heart Chamber, and exchanged directly for eligible Rank 3 Essences. While ordinarily each specific Essence must be learned in order to unlock it for other characters via MOTHER, all Essences associated with Nazjatar and Mechagon reputations will be available if any other different character has earned any of the Essences available from that reputation.

Our goal with this update is to preserve the efforts that players put into unlocking a given Essence through its associated activity the first time, while offering subsequent characters far more flexibility in pursuing that goal. We’ll have additional details in a forthcoming hotfixes update 2 that goes out around the same time as maintenance, but we wanted to let the community know ASAP that this change is in the works.

Apparently you must log in on the one with Rank 3's first or you don't get the currency, nothing in your currency tab and nothing at MOTHER until you do.

That should have been clarified BEFORE the update you'd think. It is is Blizz's help section if you put in a ticket, but that's a gross oversight not to have mentioned it prior.

What Minor Assaults are they talking about? Because I just did the Uldum dailys and the "Assault: The Black Empire" and all of the minor WQ and only got the 125 from opening the chest for the assault

First join your MAIN CHARACTERbefore you open your alt Weekly Chest otherwise you will lose 360x Echoes of Ny'alotha and Blizzard wont help you even if you open a ticket. Vote this to top people. I did not know. And now i m biting my lips..

This feels broken. My main has all the rank 3s that my alts have. I have yet to see anything about this currency in game on my main. I havent logged on an alt since they added.

I've done both kinds of assaults, keystones above 3, emissaries... if I didnt read wowhead or forums I wouldn't even know these were in game because they're arent for me.

It would be nice if blizzard could clarify that if you arent missing rank 3s your other toons have you wont see them or maybe I have a big in case blizzard decides to use these for something else or it by chance one of my alts gets one of the couple rank 3s my main doesnt have.

I can't actually believe they gave us this system, but you can't purchase those rep-locked essences on characters whose role can't be tank or healer. I have Exalted reps on my Warlock, but I can't buy the rep-locked essences I worked hard for, for my alts? Isn't that what this system was supposed to be resolving? Jesus Christ, Blizzard.

So, it's normal that I'm not receiving echoes on my main.

I'm missing 4 rank 3 essences on my main, my alts have almost no essences and I'm not receiving echoes on my main. But in the case one of my alts unlocks a missing essence for my main, I won't be able to have farmed the echoes in advance. But if one of my alts unlocks one, I can farm for the other three.

This system is not well thought at all...

Just a notice: The map does not say that the emissaries give Echoes, so one may believe that and miss out on 50 per day. I thought that maybe they have made some changes and removed them from some resources, but no - all emissaries except Tortollans give the currency. But still, warfront HC quest did not give any.

This does not work how I hoped it would. I thought since I got them on my main, my main was furthest along, I would be able to farm the echoes (still not quite easily) on my main and then obtain the essences on my main to send to my alts. But they're account-wide as opposed to BoA. Kinda sucks. Glad it's here at all though.

I think its worth updating the guide to reflect the recent changes, obtaining rank 3 essence for any role will unlock access to rank 3 of the remaining roles , and this applies to M+, The Eternal Palace, and the pvp essences.

I have not tested this yet, but I'll put this as a warning to anyone who might see, just to keep it in mind: "You stop collecting Echoes once you have no rank 3's available," and "TLDR: leave at least one unlockable essence on your alts so you can bank up echoes." (copied from r/wow) You do continue to get them if you unlock one more lvl3+ essence, but until then, the collecting is halted.

Mother is not selling any echoes for some of my alts, what gives? they are all 120 and have various green and blue essences, most with all 4 slots unlocked. What kind of logging in or out magic combo do I need to do?

This system is so .................. My alt (with only 1 rank 3 essence) got the echo's while main (with several rank 3 essence) havent got one yet

some of the essences say "must obtain rank three on another character".. meanwhile I have unlocked the rank three on an alt. So I thought this must be bugged. I was able to purchase it regardless which means the text needs to be fixed to be more accurate or some ppl will think they cannot purchase ones they have already ranked up.

Your main will have thousands of echoes, but nothing more to buy. Meanwhile your alt will have a dozen echoes and will not be able to buy anything

I think something must be bugged. I've gotten my cloak on my alt. I've earned 1,950 echoes so far. According to information here, major assaults are supposed to grant 625 echoes and minor assaults are supposed to provide 375. (What's the difference between a major and minor assault, btw?) I just completed an assault in Vol'dun on my alt and it gave me ZERO echoes. What gives?

This page is out of date.

My main has all but three rank 3 essences. Now with this latest patch, Mother does not offer to sell essences to my Priest who has already banked 1600 echoes and only has 2 rank 3 essences and has purchased rank 3 essences in the past. That toon has stopped gaining echoes as well. This toon has not obtained his legendary cloak.

How come it doesn't cost less Echos if you already have Rank 1 or 2 with the character your buying it for? So I mean the less ranks your skipping/buying, equals to less Echos needed. Example to help show my thoughts.
Character 1. Has Breath of the Dying at Rank 3, unlocking it for purchase from Mother for other Characters.
Character 2, Doesn't have it at all. Buys from Mother at 2500 Echos. Gets access right away to Rank 3, skipping all requirements to unlock at rank 3.
Character 3, Has Rank 2 unlocked. To save grinding the rep to get Rank 3 you buy from Mother, only skipping 1 rank requirement to get it at rank 3.
So how come it still costs 2500 Echos for character 3. They have already done some of the leg work to get ranks 1 and 2 unlocked already. Why not get a discount due to skipping less. You know something like,
Full buy = 2500 Echos
Have rank 1 = 1700 Echos
Have rank 2 = 900 Echos
2/3rds of the leg work means 2/3rds the price. Or at the very least save 500 Echos per rank. Full = 2500. 1 = 2000. 2 = 1500. At the very least this would help decrease some of the grinding on any alts we have.

You need Ashjra'kamas(legendary cloak) to have the echoes drop for your main/alts. That should be updated in this guide.

As of 10.1.5 of Dragonflight, there is a bug where MOTHER will not sell alts rank 3 essences even though they have been obtained and equipped on another character. Submitting a ticket to CS will get you nowhere as all you'll get are copy / paste responses stating they have marked it as a bug, while the GM will be unable to do anything to unlock / set your account status to allow purchase.

Bug reports on their own forums and from several Discord communities suggest the bug has been around for at least a year or so, with no resolution in site, and no ability for CS / GM to intervene and provide a means to obtain rank 3 essences on alts.
