In this guide, we'll cover the basics needed to get you started, without all the fuss of the full guides. Whether you're new to the spec, a casual achievement hunter, or a returning player looking to refamiliarize yourself with Protection in Battle for Azeroth, these simple guidelines will get you into the action as easily as possible.\r

Here is the most commonly-used talent setup for Prot Warriors. It is an effective all-around build which can handle almost anything, but some situations may become a little easier with a talent swap. Gear\r
Fresh 120s in Battle for Azeroth have a lot of options available to help gear up, including World Quests, Heroic and Mythic dungeons, Island Expeditions, Reputation Vendors, and crafting professions. Most gear can proc Warforged or Titanforged ilvl gains, so gear from any source can be a huge upgrade for new players. Check out the Prot Warrior Gear Guide for more details.\r

Azerite Gear\r
Azerite gear is a major source of player power in Battle for Azeroth, and the traits that Azerite armor provides are based on the item\u2019s level, meaning that higher ilvl Azerite pieces will have stronger Azerite effects. For this reason, Azerite armor cannot Warforge or Titanforge.\r

Deafening Crash
is hands-down the best overall trait for Prot Warrior, but only for a single point. The duration increase to Demoralizing Shout is extremely powerful, but does not increase with additional ranks in
Deafening Crash
. Beyond that,
Brace for Impact
and
Iron Fortress
are both great traits!\r

Ignore Pain
being taken off the global cooldown in Patch 8.1, you can use it whenever if you need damage reduction and have the Rage available. Beware that it only stacks up to 130% of its base value in BFA, so if you cast it multiple times in a row, you may wind up mostly wasting your Rage.\r

Enchants\r
In BFA, weapons can again be enchanted! Along with rings, they make up the entirety of combat-oriented BFA Enchants. Below are the preferred weapon and ring enchants for Protection Warriors in BFA:\r
