A Paladin of ours just got it about 3-4 weeks ago, thinking that CoUM looks cooler, maybe that just because everyone and their mother on our server has Ashkandi already... so common.

First time I saw this was on a hunter. Seemed like a bit of a waste but the attack power bonus does help some I guess.

Our guild uses a bidding system for dkp, and to be honest we can barely give this thing away at min.

The first we got went to a pally and the second went to a hunter; considering its basically a "mid-grade" *PvP* weapon, it would be a bit presumptious to classify this weapon to any one class imo =) If the hunters want it, enjoy it! Same goes for 2H warriors that cant get something better, or pallies for that matter.

This dropped last night, and I (a paladin) picked it up. Considering I was going from a Zin'Rokh to this, it is a major upgrade. In my dps gear, I was getting crits of over 1400 white damage, and Judgement of Command damage over 1000 - and I'm holy spec'ed!

the only weapon with 280+ min dmg is the might of menethil, 2hander mace dropping from kel'thuzad .. it will take some time since he is down ..

other weapons are severance dropping from patchwork afaik, exactly the same dmg but with 43str 18 stami 2% crit ..

or corrupted ashbringer, but since i've not seen anything about the curse it applies to the wielder,and the - 25 stam of course, it's usefullness
is not that certain. Even if the curse is just rp (like the doppelganger debuff), the 389 max dmg may not equal up the loss of 25 stam, not sure bout that ..

don't assume every hunter can get their hands on aq 40 polearm or everyone would have it. The hunter epic staff sucks nuts, so I go brut/ scythe of the unseen path. I still raptor crit for 800 btw

While I can understand how frusterated a warrior could be by losing this to a hunter or a paladin, there is no weapon that is bound to one class unless the item specifies.

Ok, so your warrior is melee near 100% of the time. That does make it crucial to have a good weapon.

Paladins can heal, but this does NOT mean that it's the only thing they can do. Paladins can have amazing DPS given the right spec, and in any solo PvP or PvE they also need a good weapon.

Hunters have ranged attacks, and traps and wing clip, making it maybe a small bit less important for them to have a good melee weapon. However, hunters can often be forced into melee combat due to PvP or some PvE situations involving more than one mob.

So given that it is important for all 3 classes to have a good melee weapon, what's all the fighting about?

Warriors want first dibs, they do all the tanking, they should be rewarded.

Paladins want a chance for a good weapon, as is often denied them under the arguements about what "class" an item should be or about whether or not paladins can DPS.

Hunters want a good Melee weapon, which they are denied even more often for the same reason, and the fighting over whether or not a good hunter uses melee.

The fact is, ALL THREE classes have a use for this, or any other melee weapon. Unless a melee weapon has a fairly class specific stat like +def (for tanks) or + ranged AP (for hunters) or + healing (for pallies), then it should be a tossup between the three classes which can utilize the weapon.

I've heard arguements that people don't raid to outfit their players for PvP so pallies and hunters don't need these weapons. Then why do warriors need these weapons? Aren't they the only class allowed to MT high end instances? Shouldn't they be restricted to main hand weapons and sheilds? But wait, warriors have a different spec that allows them to dish out phenomenal DPS with either dual weilding or 2h weapons. So if a warrior can feel free to spec themselves however they want, why can't there be a retro pally dishing out mass DPS in between heals? Or a hunter who choses to poison and debuff and wear down their opponents with range and then decemate them with melee?

I've seen plenty of raids with players who tear through instances and high end bosses easily because they have all of their classes functioning at full efficiancy, with hunters and paladins doing their jobs and adding mass DPS.

Sure it might be nice to have this weapon before any other class does. And if your guild chooses to favor drops to one class at first that's for them to decide. But the endless bickering over which class gets what weapon is pointless, because all three classes can use two handed weapons to their full potential, and if someone feels that the weapon they'd like to roll on is better for their spec than the one you think they should have, they're most likely right, because they know their spec and play style better than you do.

A good rule for dishing out loot like this is "Will you use it in a raid?" If the answer is yes, then go by DKP or whatever system you use to determine who gets it, if its no, then you are a secondary choice for the weapon. Obviously this rule isn't foolproof like most rules, but if there is a lot of controversy in your guild like this, this will help a lot.

Personally, I think this is good for DPS warriors and hunters, who will use it in a raid. But my guild has a DPS paladin with thunderfury and hes usually ~15 on the damage meters using his thunderfury and shield, while still being up on the healing meters.

For some reason people still think hunters want melee weapons with high AP so we can use it for melee.Once again for all of you that think we want to run around swinging this in raids,AP is also RANGED AP.So,equipping a weapon like this will increase a hunter's RANGED DPS,which we use constantly.Quit acting like us hunters want this just so we can swing it once or twice.This will benefit a hunter's DPS just like a arms/fury warrior's dps.The only hunters that talk about using it for melee are pvp junkies.Hunters that raid want it mainly for using in raids to increase RAP and RDPS.

this is a nice sword for anyone who can use 2h and i was at his house wen he was in naxx and the raid leader said it was between him and the other warrior in our guild and the leader said this sword goes to the hunter i prefferably dont care who it goes to as long as its a reasonable class but this would be nice for a warrior or a hunter or anyone who can use a 2h wep but it comes down to the raid leaders decicion i guess

When BC comes hunters will benefit far more from +attack power items then from + agil items. Allso haveing a nice 2h and savage strikes helps alot in pvp when a hunter makes his move to wing clip a oponent and the reptor strike crits can go up to 1400 on clotys, so doing 1k crits as a part of a wing clip is pure imba. Since 1 agil = 1 rap in BC there isent a single weapon that can beat this AP bonus. I consider this a hunter weapon in BC. Warriors and palas can get far more better wpns then this one in nexx.

FIrst kill on gluth, offocers awarded it to our hunter class captain, AJEX. Second one dropped last night, and I was the only one that wanted it. GG raptor strike crits for over 2k, replaced my DOW with it =)

And Luckily Our guild looks at the DPS of the weapon aswell as the AP bonus.. and has worked out that weapons like this should go to DPS warriors..

Im sure other guilds (especially alliance ones) have other policies

First kill on gluth, hunter class captain was awarded the claymore. 5th or 6th kill, he dropped another and I was the only one that rolled on it. Replaced my DOW, very nice ap. 2k raptor strike crits =)

If your warriors are using the Ashkandi or the Dark Edge of Insanity, they would be stupid to waist their DKP on such a small small upgrade. IMO, Wait for the Corrupted Ashbringer. This should go to your TSA Hunter's and DPS Paladins if the DPS warriors in the raid have equal or better. If you don't agree and you have an Ashkandi or Dark Edge of Insanity then the warrior disagreeing needs to lrn2notbealoot%^&*!.

Just another ashkandi.

Im sure at this point in naxx most warriors already have better/equal weapons and hunters can have a pretty clear shot at it, but I dont see why any hunter would take this over the eye of nerub!
