5.3 PTR: Hidden Brawler's Guild Items, Tom Chilton Interview
2013/05/17 at 11:08 AM
In addition to the new Brawler's Guild bosses coming with Ranks 9 and 10 in Patch 5.3, there are twelve special bosses which each require players doing something creative to unlock.
First, players must find a special item, such as
The Bear and the Lady Fair
. Each item has a unique source.
These items start quests asking the player to return these item to the Brawler's Guild, like
A Tale of Romance and Chivalry
Once at the Brawler's Guild, you will then fight the boss associated with the item, in quests like
The Bear and the Lady Fair
Beating the boss for the first time will reward you with a significant amount of gold like
Overflowing Sack of Coins
, and a themed vanity shirt like
You can now purchase that boss' Challenge Card and fight them again as much as you like.
Challenge Cards are a new addition to the Brawler's Guild--players can purchase them to fight any boss they've already faced.
Here are some of the interesting quest sources recently brought to our attention:

News Round Up: The Elusive Unborn Val'kyr, PvP Changes in 5.3, Build 16958
2013/05/16 at 12:24 PM
In today's news, we have an epic blue post talking about all the PvP changes coming in 5.3--they should encourage more players to try PvP instead of being disheartened by a gear gap. We're also investigating the elusive source of a new battle pet,
, and have a few new spell changes from a tiny 5.3 PTR build this morning.
PvP in 5.3
With the new scaling system in battlegrounds and arenas bringing everything down to ilvl 496, players behind on gear won't be as big of a squishy target for BiS-geared players--all that awesome PvE gear is getting scaled down. This new system also won't encourage players to keep their scaled-down raiding epics and ignore PvP gear, as the extra stats on PvP gear will give a survivability edge.
CM Nakatoir gave a few examples of players that could currently be discouraged by PvP--a progressed
Throne of Thunder
raider, and someone in starter-PvP gear, both wanting to try something new. In both scenarios, they get crushed by an opponent in Tyrannical gear. The raider, while doing decent damage, is squishy and dies a lot, while the person in PvP gear does poor damage and dies easily to someone in full Tyrannical gear.
While these scenarios were made up, they're fairly accurate bas

There was also a small PTR build today, in which Lava Burst's cooldown went from 1.5 seconds to 2 seconds to match the description in the PTR notes:
: You hurl molten lava at the target, dealing 1382 to 1775 Fire damage. Lava Burst will always deal a critical strike. If your Flame Shock is on the target, Lava Burst will deal 50% additional damage.

at the start of the expansion was an oversight.
In response to players asking about in-game surveys to provide feedback, Bashiok explained that Blizzard already amasses an exhaustive amount of player data, from talents players pick to what dailies are the most popular. Of course, forum feedback is also useful as it provides insights into player choices.
There were also a few interesting content tidbits:
\tBlack Temple was mean to be in the game at Burning Crusade's launch.
\tWhile most of Patch 5.3 was planned out a while ago, Battlefield: Barrens was only planned in 5.2.
\tPlayers gave lots of feedback on missing Heroic Dungeons at one point, so Heroic Scenarios are a nod to those players.

Garrosh's influence can be seen in the Valley of Spirits being shut down, a Horde digsite in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, and Kor'kron camps in the Northern Barrens.
To unlock this world event, you'll need to do several new scenarios and a quest chain showing the underlying politics behind your faction.
Once the world event is unlocked, you can collect Kor'k

Path of the Last Emperor
In 5.3, players who have completed the
step in the Barrens can head back to Pandaria, learn about the continent more with an old scholar, and get rewarded with some ilvl 502 boots!
The Old Seer
: Locate Seer Hao Pham Roo on the slopes of Mount Neverest in Kun-Lai Summit.
Hellscream is using Pandaria's secrets to wage war against the world - and even his own people. Is this really what the last pandaren emperor had in mind when he cloaked the continent in mists? And why did the mists suddenly disappear? I must have answers! In my travels, I met an old scholar, an expert on the last emperor. Please, seek out Seer Hao Pham Roo. Last we spoke, he was planning to retrace the emperor's steps by scaling Mount Neverest... but he was far too old to attempt such a climb.
Path of the Last Emperor
: Attach the climbing rope to each Rope Anchor along the path to help Seer Hao Pham Roo reach Seeker's Point.
In his time of uncertainty, the last emperor walked a lonely path up this mountain, until he had at last found his answers. I am here to walk the same path, and it seems you have questions of y
