So, Blizzard wants to please players who used to cry at the forums "RELEASE NEXT CONTENT PHASE NOW", "EVOLUTION TOO SLOW", "BOSSES TOO EASY" and spent all their playtime in instances for faster leveling. These are the minority but anyway Blizzard, there are folks at the forums who asked you for Classic Fresh too so give them their nerfed Vanilla but give us an original Classic Vanilla Fresh un-nerfed server too.
Full change or nothing.
Seasonal characters should work as in Diablo. By the end of the season they become regular non-season characters. So one idea is to have them migrate for regular WoW classic.
I think it might be a good challenge for those who really enjoy the vanilla wow experience. For it to keep growing and bringing new things, without losing it's original taste. Very nice!
This blue post looks informative, but it really isn't, most of the stuff ends up in "we don’t have specifics to share now".It's all just "official speculation" for now, basically a placebo.
I absolutely love this, however the only change I think is negative is the time frame. It should be faster than it was initially, but 12 months is way too fast. That's nearly half the game life. I think 14-16 months would be a lot better. I get that this server is mainly for hardcore players, but being that short will discourage anyone from joining late or leveling alts. My biggest problem with this is the constant feeling of being rushed. It will be hard to just enjoy the moment knowing that it's not going to last very long. Also if you happen to miss a month or two, catching up will be extremely difficult. I don't think gear scarcity is a good justification for difficulty, but even if you disagree I think this could be handled better.
Great start to the changes, but it is just a start. Here are the two main changes I would like to see added:1. Double the boss loot. With the time to gear being cut in half, it only makes sense to double the gear acquired. When my raid was raiding on lockout, in BWL we only saw one Chromatically Tempered Sword, and in AQ40 we did not see an Ancient Qiraji Ripper or a Deaths Sting. Our raid also only got a Thunderfury during Naxx lol. If the loot is not increased it is going to be even worse and very unsatisfying for a player-base that is basically BIS or bust. 2. Dual Spec. With the shortened season, it will be even more difficult to level alts. I think most people will only want to play their main character, and have the option to try out PVP, or have some fun in the open world. The classic community does not like to PVP or PVE without an optimal spec, its pretty unsatisfying. We could do a dual spec similar to Wrath where there is a big upfront gold cost, and of course have that transition be locked in instances so players are not switching specs based on each boss fight. As it stands, you have to pay 100g per week minimum to PVP in between your raiding night at endgame (assuming you only raid once per week).*Bonus Change* Gear Optimization while not as high of a priority as the first two, it would really make gearing more satisfying if some of the poorly optimized loot could be re-balanced. This is especially true for MC loot (other raids as well but its really evident in MC) and even class sets. There are so many pieces in MC that are just straight disenchanted because of how trash they are, and then there are some pieces in MC that are really good. Would be nice to have some half decent pieces for gear progression along with those same BIS pieces instead of a huge disparity. As for class sets, if you do want to play feral or pally or Spriest despite them being less optimal, it would be great if there were class sets available for other specs instead of "if you can heal you're a healer, oh and warriors are the tanks." Similar to re-balancing, this would make more gear at least viable while still maintaining the prestige of getting those BIS pieces like CTS AQR & deaths sting.
WHY fast content? who cares? instead i wish you can slow all down! i love Vanilla but i wish i can have time to spent in TBC too. Do the inverse! put a slower content! let me raid 3 months in MC and other 3 or 4 in BWL! but most of all...let me relieve the pace of the leveling experience!
I think a case can be made that classic+ is playable in the form of Shadowlands. They itterared, balanced, shifted gear stats, etc.
Why on earth would you defend loot scarcity as a game mechanic? It seems very backwards to inferr that things are to be faster and harder, but at the same time just plain not integrate better gearing processes. The difficulty of Vanilla was organizational - Not mechanical, numerical or otherwise stated. There were VERY few bosses that actually posed any REAL sense of dangerto you, should your gear be not good enough and no WB's. (Specifically Patchwerk)What would prevent people from just AoE zerging Edgemasters again? Stackingwarriors? Using "normal" consumables? The world buffs meta was not something that inherently "made things too easy"- it gave you some wiggle room on SOME bosses - Like Sapphiron and Patchwerk. But you could still cheese these with either "Clever use of mechanics" or just classstacking. So - again - I genuinly don't buy the idea of that giving players gear is a bad idea.I genuinly think with how utterly garbage most of the gear from raids is anyway, that you really don't concern yourself with gear all that much - In a meaningfulway enough to mean that "same loot rate in smaller time span == hard" - It'sjust gonna make people look for other ways to get Edgemasters, Lionheart, pooling guilds and incentivizing Poaching.Difficulty was never the appeal of Vanilla - If anything, it was the opposite - andit truly baffels me that anyone would think catering to "the more hardcore"ever has been a winning stratergy.
Bring back the original fast mounts for a time with the faster leveling. Always wanted to ride one.
FRESH mentality reached the official servers. RIP WoW.
