Seems like the fun police has claimed another victim
LAME!
Nooo, oh well, it was really broken to pull all your cd's plus that if you were a melee
It was OP as hell so i knew a nerf was coming but i would rather have seen a reduction to its damage / make the damage tick slower over time so it was less bursty but keep the rest of the trinket as it was
It's not fun because it was overpowered, it was fun because it was a trinket that let you cast spells while it channeled, as well as not taking up on-use trinket cooldown. If they only reduced the overall damage it dealt, rather than making the channel interruptible, I'd call it balance police, but this new version isn't as fun. I stand by what I said. And if you're tired of people one-shotting you in warmode, just turn it off. /s
People talking about this 1-shoting people in pvp must never have tried it... It did heavily reduced dmg against other players.
aaaand back to being useless.
This still does massive damage, it's just that it became a hell of a lot harder to use. In particular you can't just macro it to one of your abilities and forget about it any more. You'll basically have to treat is as a separate channeled spell.
This is how I was always using it. I did eventually notice that it didn't get interrupted, but out of habit, I continued to use it as if anything, even moving, stopped the cast. So while I can see why people are irritated, I'm not terribly broken up since it seems it's just bringing the trinket back into line with every other cast in the game.
Well, they could've nerfed this on the PTR or even better; when they made it. How could they not see this being a problem at that stage already?
To be honest they could nerf things for PVP instead of a all around nerf to PVE. You could say they do nerf alot of things just because its op in PVP. then it becomes almost useless in PVE because of it. so yea i agree on why nerf it. but more towards why nerf it completly instead of just pvp since it was a major issue in pvp more then pve.
The post says "over 2.5 seconds" but the damage does not begin until 1.5 seconds of cast time, so it takes a total of 4 seconds (modified by haste) to do the 150k damage (modified by versatility). Prior to the nerf, it didn't need any dedicated time at all (it set a GCD, but could be cast during one and so macroed with another ability). This is a massive change to it. With the current functionality, the cast time before the channel starts should probably be removed.
I wonder if it will still be better than Grongs for Frost. Since we have the gcds to spare.
-800 DPS if I switch to my old trinkets, oh @#$%. I guess the no casting while casting will still make it sim better.
