Your own gear-related profession building: If you have a profession that makes gear, by having a profession building related to your existing profession, you will effectively halve the time it takes to make items, since you will have twice the daily cooldown.

Profession buildings for which you do not have the profession: you can also craft gear for yourself from profession buildings without having the associated profession, albeit at a much slower rate and a smaller selection of items.

Salvage Yard: One of the ways to get gear from your garrison for raiding is by sending your followers off on missions that reward gear (see a list of missions that reward gear here ) as well as missions that reward Caches from the Highmaul raid which also may contain gear. Missions that reward epic gear have an 630 item level requirement for your followers, and missions that reward epic raiding gear have an ilvl 645 requirement for your followers. Having the Salvage Yard Level 1 as a garrison building allows you to loot Crate of Salvage while completing missions. These can only be opened at your Salvage Yard Level 1 and have a chance to contain the items needed to upgrade your follower's gear. These items are fairly common from the Crate of Salvage. See a list of all the follower upgrade items here. In addition, when you level your Salvage Yard to 3, you may occasionally find gear for your own character in the Big Crate of Salvage.

The Barn provides some raiding benefit in the form of materials for upgrading crafted items and a chance at providing Savage Feast in the Barn Level 3's work orders. While you can cook personal 100 stat food, this is the only feast you can set out for your raid that provides 100 stat food.

The Dwarven Bunker/War Mill provides a benefit to the above outlined description of gaining gear through missions because the work orders at the Dwarven Bunker / War Mill Level 2 reward the weapons and armor used to increase your followers' item levels. These work orders open up at level 2. When you level your Bunker/War Mill to 3, you are granted one free Seal of Tempered Fate per week. This does not grant you an extra roll, just one of your 3 is free of charge. This may be a benefit to time-limited raiders, in addition to helping gear up your followers.

Buildings for PetsPets from Garrison Buildings

Tailoring Emporium: Allows you to speed up generating reagents for Elekk Plushie, a pet required for the associated achievement An Awfully Big Adventure.

The Garrison Forge allows you to speed up generating reagents for Soul of the Forge

The Lunarfall Inn/Frostwall Tavern gives two battle pets via quests. These quests are offered by randomly rotating NPCs in the Inn/Tavern. The quests are For the Birds and The Huntresses and they reward Everbloom Peachick and Sentinel's Companion

Trading Post: This building is the only way to access the Sha'tari Defense Quartermaster Maaria and the Laughing Skull Orcs QuartermasterKil'rip, and they each sell a pet, one per faction: Sky Fry and Bone Wasp respectively.

Herb Garden: Harvest the herbs at your Herb Garden Level 3 to collect Draenic Seeds. With 1000 seeds, you can purchase Crazy Carrot. In addition, Nightshade Sproutling may rarely drop from the NPCs that occasionally spawn while you pick herbs in your Herb Garden.

Lunarfall Excavation/Frostwall Mines: This 'building' allows you to mine ore, and as such, there is a chance to spawn a Goren NPC while mining who has a chance to drop Ore Eater.

Pet Menagerie: Obviously the must have building for pet collectors and battlers. Levelling your menagerie, completing associated achievments, and completing the associated pet battle quests unlocks a daily which rewards Big Bag of Pet Supplies; this has the chance to have many pets in it, such as Albino Chimaeraling, Firewing, Ghastly Kid, Puddle Terror, Sun Sproutling, Sunfire Kaliri and Weebomination

Fishing Shack: Levelling your Fishing Shack Level 3 allows you to recruit Nat Pagle as a follower, gain rep with him, and earn his special currency, Nat's Lucky Coin. Nat sells a battle pet, Land Shark, for 50 Nat's Lucky Coin and requires your reputation with him to be Good Friends.

Barn: Leveling your Barn to Level 3 allows you access to the upper level of the barn where you can loot a Glass of Warm Milk that teaches you the Pygmy Cow pet!

Buildings for MountsMounts from Garrison Buildings

Tailoring Emporium: allows you to speed up reagent production for the Creeping Carpet mount.

Tannery: allows you to speed up reagent production for the Riding Harness mount.

Trading Post: This building is the only way to access to Maaria, the Sha'tari Defense Quartermaster, and Kil'rip, the Laughing Skull Orcs Quartermaster, who sell a mount for each faction, both requiring exalted with their respective factions: Armored Irontusk & Ironside Warwolf.

The Stables: This is the best building for mounts. By questing and completing all the quests and associated achievements for the Stables, you can earn the following mounts: Trained Snarler, Trained Silverpelt, Trained Riverwallow, Trained Rocktusk, Trained Meadowstomper, and Trained Icehoof. The achievements from completing the quests which rewarded those mounts also reward mounts: Armored Frostwolf is a reward from The Stable Master and Armored Frostboar is a reward from Advanced Husbandry (Horde) / Advanced Husbandry (Alliance).

Fishing Shack: As above with the pets, you can purchase a mount from Nat Pagle after you have recruited him to your Garrison as a follower. He sells Reins of the Crimson Water Strider for 100 Nat's Lucky Coin at the Best Friends reputation level.

In addition to the mounts obtainable from the buildings listed above, there is a follower mission that rewards Halaa Battle Token that enable you to purchase the Outland Nagrand reputation/PvP mounts : Mysteries of Lok-rath gives you enough Halaa Battle Token to purchase Reins of the Dark War Talbuk or Reins of the Dark Riding Talbuk.

Buildings for TransmogTransmog from Garrison Buildings

Enchanter's Study: When you level up your enchanter's study and assign a follower to it, that follower will offer weapon enchant illusions such as Illusion: Agility. This is like transmog for enchants!

Storehouse: At level 3, you have access to a transmogrification NPC so you won't have to leave your garrison to transmog your items!

Lunarfall Inn/Frostwall Tavern: This building has a rotating set of quest giving NPCs. John J. Keeshan offers Cold Steel which rewards a transmoggable Bloody Bandanna. You can also buy the transmoggable Meat Cleaver from the Level 2 or 3 Inn if you have 700 Cooking.

Herb Garden: You can purchase the transmoggable gardening tools Garden Scythe, Garden Sickle, Garden Hoe, Garden Shovel, and Garden Pitchfork with Draenic Seeds collected at your Herb Garden.

Salvage Yard: At Level 3, your Big Crate of Salvage, collected from missions while you have a Level 3 Salvage Yard, can contain gear that has a unique model -- Please see a preview of all the items available here.

Gladiator's Sanctum: The work orders from this building provide PvP gear, which you can also use for transmog. Models are viewable here.

Trading Post: Having a trading post allows you access to the Sha'tari Defense Quartermaster who sells a full set of trasmog plate gear only available to Alliance characters: and the Laughing Skull Orc Quartermaster sells skull transmog helms for Horde characters.

Dwarven Bunker/War Mill: This building offers a BOA transmog set for each armor class, as well as a SW/Org guard outfit. You can see those sets in Perculia's Warlords of Draenor Transmog Guide. They are sold for Iron Horde Scraps which are looted in the world and in dungeons and are also provided by the War Mill/Bunker work orders.

Buildings with Crafting Benefits: Players without professions can craft rare and ilvl 640 armor sets, ilvl 640 capes, or ilvl 630 weapons with distinctive looks. Players with professions can upgrade these items, which also gives them a fancier appearance.

Buildings for Titlescomplete guide to titles

The Gladiator's Sanctum: This building offers several titles for both factions: for completing the achievement Warlord of Draenor (Horde)/Warlord of Draenor (Alliance) which consists of killing 500 of each race from the opposite faction, and there are individual titles as well completing the Nemesis achievements for killing each race. Titles available to the Alliance are: , , , , , , and . Titles available to the Horde are: , , , , , , and . In addition, winning the Highmaul Coliseum event and earning The Last of Us, accessed through the Gladiator's Sanctum, awards the title: or .

Lumber Mill: Completing work orders at your Lumber Mill awards achievements that grant titles: completing 50 Work Orders awards Choppin' Some More Logs is for 50 Work Orders and grants the title. After completing 100 Work Orders, you are awarded the achievement Choppin' Even More Logs. It grants the title for Alliance and for Horde.

The Stables: Completing the achievement associated with the Stables building (The Stable Master for Alliance and The Stable Master for Horde) grants the title .

Garrison Achievements: Constructing lots of buildings and learning blueprints awards several achievements, as well as the meta-achievement Garrison Architect which grants you the title .

Buildings for PvP

The Gladiator's Sanctum provides you, through work orders, with blue PvP gear. It also allows you to obtain PvP titles, listed above.

Gladiator's Sanctum: This building allows access to the Highmaul Coliseum which, upon winning the event, grants you the toy Warlord's Flag of Victory.

Lumber Mill: Having this building gives you the ability to loot Barkskin Tome, which drops from Petrified Ancient that are found in specific locations in Draenor. It starts the quest Legacy of the Ancients. This quest requires you to kill and loot four unique Draenor ancients. These are spawned by chopping down Level 2 Trees (Medium Timber). Completing this quest awards the Treessassin's Guise, a toy that transforms you into a tree unique to the Draenor zone you are in. There are six styles total.

Inn: Having this building gives you access to a rotating set of quest givers who give you quests to enter dungeons. Many of these quests reward toys and their full list can be seen here.

The Garrison Outpost in Spires of Arak unlocks after doing a quest line and gives you the ability to summon a vendor (Honest Jim and Linny "The Skinny" Leadpockets) that sells Bloodmane Charm. The vendors are random and appear for a limited time. This toy that transforms you into a Bloodmane Saberon, the model used for .

In addition to the buildings that award toys, there are two follower missions (Finding Farahlon and Hearthstone Tournament) that award toys. One awards Mysterious Shining Lockbox which contains the toy Archmage Vargoth's Spare Staff and the other rewards you with Autographed Hearthstone Card.

And we should focus on resource-gathering and upgrading followers?

For instance, if I know that I want to have a Forge in my (plate-wearing, miner/herbalist) main's garrison, I'd focus on getting the Salvage Yard first, get the Inn as soon as possible, then get a Blacksmithing follower, send them out on missions to level and gear up, THEN build a Forge and put in the follower (because they supposedly increase the rewards of work orders, if they reach level 100, or something).

(NOTE: I'm not in the beta, this is based on wowhead guides and comments I've seen...)

Edit: Well, crud. It looks like the Salvage Yard is a Spires of Arak reward (level 96, IIRC?), for choosing the correct outpost. Or waiting until level 100, to buy it from the vendor. There's literally 1 building designed for it and by just looking at the small 2 line PvP section I feel saddened. Blizz could have done so much to help PvP using garrisons...Oh well maybe they'll add some more support for it in some new buildings as the expac goes on.
