I play late night Hawaii time. I wonder if the devs even have any idea what their game is like if you play off times. They may not believe for example that I regularly saw the Icecrown bosses not go down for lack of enough players to fight them.Anyway, this change sounds like a potential serious problem for me. It can be hard enough to get people to group with, I don't need it to be harder.
It really be nice to know why Blizz made this change?
If they're going to do this, can't they at least keep servers together? I paid to transfer my characters to a new server to be with friends, not jump through loops to interact with them. It's bad when your own server feels as distant as pugs from wherever.
Making such a hugely impactful change and doing it when the expansion actually releases and not in the pre-patch and trying to hide it, not announcing the change... it's just got me seeing red, to tell you the truth.
Considering all the rares that aren't soloable, this is going to be horrible.
The least they can do is (give us an option) to limit LFG to the people in your current phase. But of course they never think about user experience and act proactively until after we complain about it.
I can see them backtracking on this. I don't understand how this is a good change for anyone at all.
Well… that explains a few things XDDefinitely a disappointing change (like when they took away the group finder “eye” button for most quests).Hopefully it’s as someone else here suggested: just a temporary change to avoid overloading of shards/servers during the early days of the new expansion.
Blizzard punishing everyone for the actions of a few. Actually couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to see my friend at all since that tooltip wasn't showing up for any of us.
Terrible change. I hope Blizzard comes out and tells us why they did this.
i dont see this staying around long... as someone who hasnt grouped with anyone in 4 years and have relied on LFG to get things done... this aint sitting well with me.. im just hoping they revert this change soon
One of the main reasons Legion was successful is the thing they keep burying more and more into the ground.Choices.
A dumb comment on how one of the devs saw feedback on how someone enjoyed grouping in capital cities in Classic and thought "we could force this by adjusting group phasing to only work in cities flagged as sanctuaries, a bit like the War Mode toggle".Jokes aside it's a bad change and it could be an attempt to force emulation of that.
Well, all this explains why I saw literally only one other player during the entire Maw intro, when all my friends that were on were nowhere to be seen. And why the whole Bastion zone seems to have me and two other players in it, until I arrives at Hero's Rest or another sanctuary when suddenly it's a game full of players again. What a bizarre design decision to make.
This change has already made it more annoying simply to group with friends for questing. I usually play the game with my sister, and we'll log out wherever we stop. Now we have to fly all the way back to Bastion and back again every time. And for what purpose? This article doesn't seem to list a REASON for the change. Who had a problem with the previous method of moving to the phase of the group you're joining? It worked fine! Has Blizzard never heard of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"?
This makes no sense. It renders the group finder virtually useless.
That's what we thought it was for. Phasing seemed to be really wonky last night.
Come play our MMORPG, oh by the way you can't easily group with people that are doing the same thing and are near you. They could have at least make the phaseing take place in rested areas. I had a friend both logged out in Hero's Rest figuring that was a sanctuary since the rested symbol showed up. Nooop had to go back to Orobos :(
This is such clunky way of doing this, so bad! WTH Blizzard :/
