Mine didn't really start in the online universe that is World of Warcraft but it flourished because of its existence. This is the story of me and my now wife. back in High school she was the loner that nobody noticed, hell even I didn't notice her. One day my friend introduced me to his girl friend at the time during lunch. We shook hands and the three of us chit chatted for a bit like friends do. As the yer went on the lot of us, along with the rest of our rag-tag bunch of awesome people, we got to know each other and she became a little more out spoken around me and i began to see something beautiful in her, and unbeknownst to my self, began to like her. Now before I go any fuhrer i would like to point out that she and my other friend had not been dating at this point and had been separated for quite some time and there was never any talk of Bro's before hoes $%^& between us. Now it was coming time for the ROTC ball, witch is similar to the Military ball in that all members of the ROTC community within respective school districts had one every year that there cadets could attend. She was missing a date and so was I, to be honest i was not thinking of going this year because of it, but she was going with a mutual friend of ours and she asked me if i would be her escort to the dance. Now before i jump to far forward Let's get into how WoW plays into this. before this happens we had been spending time at each others house playing video games and what not and i would watch her play WoW, mainly because i didn't have a copy and my older brother did and I wanted to see what it was since i had played all the RTS warcraft games before. She looked to be having so much fun and wanted me to play with her so bad i asked my brother to set me up an account and get me some game time, i didn't tell him it was because of a girl because i didn't think any thing of my relationship with my then friend at the time. So he sets it up because summer is about to start and my parents game him the ok to do so, so i start playing and i send her a friendly whisper saying i am online now and we start adventuring together as an RP druid couple, little did i know that would become a reality. Now back to the ROTC ball. So comes the day the ROTC ball happens i meet up with my friend who is happy for me that i actually have a "date" to the ball this year since the previous year i went stag because the girl I DID ask turned me down and i had already bought my ticket :(. So it comes time to leave for the ball and we go to meet up with the ladies at his date's house and then over the that mutual friend i spoke of earlier to have the limo drive us to the Ball......yes we had a limo. So on the way it was business as usual as far as 6-7 friends in limo on the way to a dance can be, joking and poking fun and what not. Then we get there and decided the best option is get our pictures taken before the dance because we figured if we try and get them taken after we get all hot and sweaty from dancing there probably not going to look as good, hair messed up, makeup all ary and all that jazz. So we go to get our pictures taken and I'm not sure if the photographer saw something in her eyes or something in mine or both but he said something that would change the way i looked at that little druid girl to this very day. "Get closer, come on, and tilt your heads together a little make it look like you love each other, you do no?" and with out thinking i followed his instructions and after the photo shoot i grabbed her hand. Now up to this point in the relation ship i had not once even hinted, to my self or her that i had feelings or inclinations for PDA of any sort, but those words made something click in my head and my head put all the peaces together that I loved this girl and she loved me. From all the late nights spent questing to all the times she would hug me just a little longer then every one else in the group of friends, to all the things she would let me get away with calling her when she wouldn't let any one else call her. In that moment my mind finally put it all together and later that night during a song I will never forget the name of(until this very moment i had to go look it up >.<) LeAnn Rimes 'How do I live?'. I could not help my self, some one had just proposed to his girl friend at the end of the previous song XD. Any way after that night the relation ship we had as pure friends was gone, well actually wasn't gone but had evolved into something more, something that would one day end up as a married couple with a son celebrating there 2 year marriage anniversary after having been together for nearly 8 years. The one constant through the years has always been WoW, through all the ups and downs we have used our skills in money management and problem solving that we have learned through playing together, to work through anything and to come out stronger for it. There you go WoWhead community....I don't think i have ever told that story in it's entirety before.....Hope i win XD. It felt good to finally get this all in righting though. even if i don't win. I do appreciate taking the time to read this whole thing and if you didn't....well I don't know what to say to you. you lazy person you.TL:DR To sum it all up Boy meats girl in high school they start playing WoW together, then they go to a dance and boy discovers that they love each other and they eventually get married and live happily ever after. :P
Winning stuff beats meeting people in real life! But sure, my guildies seem pretty cool so I'd hang out with them. Except the Canadian... she's weird ;)
Honestly? I'd have to give a shoutout to all the people in my guild.I transferred servers to stick with them, and have been raiding with them for years now. While we may give each other a hard time (constantly), we all love each other at the end of the night, and to be honest, I'd totally be down with a guild meetup someday :)<3 ya Sudden Violence!(And Deraxacus needs to check his spec).
I met this guy online a looong time ago. We are the best of friends and i would love to meet him. But hes not my crush. I feel like maybe we arnt qualified for this cause it says love. But hes my best friend and i would absolutly love to meet him some day. Guess ill just have to do it on my own.
Met some great people, had a buddy on my high school basketball team, found out he played wow and we met up, transfered servers and play together all the time.
i would like to do this but i'm already going to go see them in 4 months... :P however it would still be awesome to visit some other older people.. such as an old flame that didn't quite make it.. i hope all the people who win that chance make the best of it like i wish i did years ago :')
My wife's older brother
Not so much me, but I had a friend that played Alliance while I played Horde. I convinced him to come create a Horde toon and got him into my guild. I introduced him to a girl guildie, and they stared talking, lo and behold 6 months later I was helping him move her half way across the country from Oregon to Louisiana.
It's incredible how fun you can have with Ts + wow + guild. I've gotten a couple of new friends since I joined an active guild. Sanction @Stormscale Eu <3
I actualy met my current girl friend in WoW :) We lived pretty far from each other, but we went to university in the same city so we started dating. We know each other for about 5 years, dating 1 year and still playing WoW together :P
One of the best friends I ever made in WoW was the server's auction house king. I remember bouncing around Dalaran bantering about in trade chat with him. We don't play on the same server any more, but we're still good friends on Facebook.
I've met a few people on wow, finding out one of them went to the same high school was pretty awesome. But the best part was that after playing in-game with a guildy for 2 years turned into a marriage of 3 years and counting! We still play wow and still get along just the same as all those years before.
I dont have any friends on WoW.... ;[I hope i can still enter
I meet two of my best friends playing WoW. I moved to a new town all alone to study at university and while I lost contact with a lot of my RL friends, my online friends where never far away and people I would once count as mere acquaintances I now call brothers.
I have been on Lightninghoof in a wonderful PvP guild for almost three years now and an awesome raiding guild before that and I know a lot of the officers have met at Blizzcon but due to military/family obligations, I have not been able to attend Blizzcon yet. I know LH is a dead server but part of the game that makes it great is the people you play it with!
My friend I met online I met during cata, we were in the same guild and we never really talked until much later. We started to talk and run old content together and now that's what we do when ever we have free time.We occasionally talk in skype and just have a blast running dungeons and LFRs together to get some gear occasionally.I'm happy to have a friend I can chat with when ever with and be able to talk about not only the game but real life as well.
When we first started playing WoW we met some great folks in a guild that has long since parted ways. Until now I've been running with folks we know in real life but recently rolled a new toon in an at-level raid guild. I've just started meeting them but hope we'll make many new friends!
I dated a guy i knew from WoW (well an mmo before WoW, but WoW was the game we played together) and I even went and met him a few times (we live on different continents, so it was quite the adventure). Unfortunately, it didn't work out, but I have a lot of fond memories from that time. I like to watch catfish on tv because i recognize some of the dilemma's the people there face.I recently completely broke with the guild we were in together, but i look forward making new friends and getting to know those both in and outside of WoW.
