I don't get this debate at all.It has already been established that we'll be able to switch Covenants if we want to, and go back to our previous ones, with some cost.Nobody is going to be 'locked out for an entire expansion' from anything. The point is that Covenant just shouldn't be as freely selectable as talents are.
By the way you cannot even experiment with covenants. You have no way of testing soulbinds in the relevant content you need them for. Therefore you're forced to rely on guides etc. And you cannot even explore the game yourself.I for one would like to try it myself and see what works and how and if it's good. I can't. I first have to choose covenant and then I can test its abilities and soulbinds in Rated Arena. So I don't even know what I sign up for and it's very unfun. I've never seen any system as bad as this in WoW. And I've seen plenty. It's similar to Azerite traits that you needed to sim, because most of these were random procs with useless tooltips that don't tell you chances or anything relevant. Basically compare two traits of "You have random chance of doing damage" but you cannot really guess what does better. You could at least test it and reforge. But that's something you won't be able to do in Shadowlands easily with covenants and soulbinds. This is the way that WoW hard-forces you to rely on somebody else who calculates and tells you how to play the game. Not because you'd min max and be stupid, but because Devs made the game literally unreadable and in this case literally impossible to test when you pay very huge price for testing it.I really wonder if I should level 3rd and 4th Paladin because for this system 2 doesn't seem to be enough.
Don't get why people are complaining that it's a bad interview. He clearly says it's not an interview. Someone at wowhead just decided to call it an interview for some reason even though he specifically said it's not one. It's a conversation/discussion between a representative from high end raiding and Ion about a controversial design decision. Hence no checklist of questions to ask. Like people seriously? Do you not pay attention at all?
