For those of you complaining about "the nerf to the fun", did you actually try doing anything at all on the PTR beyond being a zombie troll? I did, it took me 2 days of trying to do the simple prepatch quest line to the point where they send you to Icecrown because I was constantly getting disconnected due to the servers being overloaded by the sheer number of zombies. Worse yet, getting infected and jumping on a flight path would disconnect you as the infection debuff ran out if you were still on the flight path (I reported it but I don't know if they fixed that yet). Trying to kill the big boss guy in the Plaguelands (no spoilers here) was a absolute pain because even out here in the middle of nowhere there were still zombies who were infecting the people fighting so the tanks and healers would get turned and everyone would get wiped because there was no longer any living tanks. Getting PVP flagged because a player zombie went close to the boss wasn't too annoying for me but it was probably annoying for the other people who happened to be getting zapped by my AoE abilities (as a boomkin).TL;DR; It has the potential to be a fun event but in it's original state it pretty much broke the game. What is the point of pre-patch events if you cannot do 90% of the pre-patch events?
Gonna be the rare voice here and express my approval of these changes. The zombie thing pre wrath was fun for exactly one day then it got tedious and annoying, especially since I'd started leveling a hunter just before that had started. But even on my main it got old very, very fast. One or two days? Yeah I can live with that and enjoy it. Weeks on end? No thanks.
lol the event is %^&*!@ed now. Totally pointless. The smoothbrains have literally destroyed the event. They ruin everything potentially disrupting to the norm of camping the AH and being afk. Holy christ on a pogo stick. Dead on arrival.

Good changes. I did this watered down PVP in Wrath and while it was a breath of fresh air initially, it got old quickly. People got swarmed and you stood around waiting for the next person to maybe get a hit in on.After the event is done with, the 'we win' button is pressed and with the exception of Northrend you can't even tell an invasion happened. It's not RP. It's a vocal bunch of people trying to force their will into others in a recycled pre-expansion event.
RIP the event. Kind've a bad first impression for an expansion when they're already nerfing fun. My hype and high hopes for shadowlands is already dying out. I might just pass on this expansion or quit WoW all together.
Well it's not much of an event anymore...
This was a bit of a heavy handed nerf. Here are my internet facts(opinions) on the subject. It was way too intrusive at first implementation. Automatically flagging you for PvP as soon as a zombie or zombie player touches you. Zombies were also hitting way too hard and were way to swarmy, especially for lowbies and new players straight from exile's reach. Even high level toons would have difficulties with them especially when they infest you. The Exile's Reach immunity is a good decision, making it so that the zombies don't attack everything in sight is wrong. They should attack everything they can except quest NPC's, and the opt in idea also kind of works. Need something like a soft opt-in. Make the portal room and maybe a small area outside of it's hallway and an auction house/bank(just one) be the safe space for those that don't want to participate in the event. Though make it one that's far in the back so the front one can experience the flood of undead. And making the zombies just a bit weaker such that one character vs maybe 4 zombies is a winnable fight as a struggle, but more than that and it's certain death.
The biggest problem I had has been addressed. When starting a character from Exile's Reach, I found that any attempts at completing the intro quests (which are mandatory - no other quests can be accessed until these are done) were impossible due to either the quest-giver being in combat or killed, or my character getting killed immediately with no option to even try to protect myself. The New Recruit buff takes care of that.Hopefully the other changes address others' concerns.
Again, cancel culture has nerfed the zombie event to the point it's not even that fun anymore. I don't understand why people couldn't accept a few weeks of chaos out of years of normal gameplay..I do wish Blizzard would add more variety of undead though. Ghouls are cool, but do get old pretty quick. Abominations, gheists, skeletons, etc..
I 100% agree. All the whiners completely ruin all of the fun.Lol @ wowhead censoring that comment saying it was 'trolling' it isn't trolling, it is the truth
There is no event at all...this prepatch is dead and it isn´t scourge dead =.="
Participation should definitely be opt-in only. I have no interest in PVP and this is essentially forcing the issue while in capital cities. If they intend to go full PVP for all players during world events, then they can forget me paying for their service.
