I think this is actually really great. It rewards people who actively participate on this site (read: really care about it) with the ability to help better maintain it's content; which should in turn give the people behind the scenes more time to develop cooler features.
I never knew I was so awesome! But I can't help feel that some of the "privileges" will be abused...
Are there plans to give rep for taking part in the guide system or is it assumed that getting the guide-based achievements provides the intended rep? Also, I think it would be cool for people to have a budget of positive rep that they can award to people (say 10 rep a month?). You see quite a lot of comments like "Good post! +1 to you sir" on the forums. Would be nice if that +1 was literal ^_^
So is wowhead.old or whatever the preserved database is going away? I hope not, it's kind of nice to see old quests and what stuff used to be like.I think some of the comments worth saving should be there, some possibly here (humorous/notable ones) and some probably deleted from both.If it is though, so be it I suppose.
I have a few concerns about the deletion of comments. (I'm not at 3,000 yet so I might not have all the information, these are just some general thoughts)I'm sure you guys saw a reputation distrabution before choosing 3000 as the level for deleting comments. How many wowhead users are already at this 3000 mark, and how many more are 500 or less points away?Is there a cap on how many delete votes you can cast per day?Can a comment be un-deleted through voting once the "pending deletion request" has been closed?Would it help scaling for there to be an intermediary reputation step?Example: at 3,000 users can View delete comments, but they will need to reach 4,000 before vote. Or at 3,000 they can vote to restore, but need to reach 4,000 to vote to delete.Just some thoughts going through my head as I drove home in the rain. That and, why is the guy behind doing 45 miles per hour and riding my bummer....he must need to pee or something...Cheers,Hat
