In before Old Soldier cinematic replies.
"having to shoehorn everything into an A v H conflict seems forced at points"It makes conflict in the game tick along. Imagine three factions in PvP: Alliance, true Horde and power-seeking (death embracing under the guise of wanting to defeat the void) "Horde".The fact that Calia is not-dead points towards more complexity than we've had in-game so far. This whole discussion shed light on so much. The in-game quest-line falls far short...
Various government should hire noble for his conspiracy theories. He'll earn thick
Here's a thought: instead of complaining about what is included inside the game, and what's included in other medium, accept all of it as a whole and don't judge the entire story based on one isolated event. Everyone here is going to read everything they can get their hands on anyway, so what does it matter what medium the story is told in?Instead of immediately judging a story and saying "I don't like this," wait until you have all of it first. This should be obvious by now, because people say they don't like something and then the next day they like it more because they got another piece of the story. Are you all really that impatient?
Death is the only thing that can stop the voids advance (that's why Alleria heard those whispers) Light gives in too easily and Fel is out of the window with the Burning Legion gone (for now)That's why Sylvanas says there's no hope. You either end up dead, undead or serve the void lords.
This story doesn't make anything better. They railroaded the Night Elves to 'rally the Alliance', why couldn't they do it to the Dwarves or humans? No gotta go to their favourite whipping post and tie a purple hide to it just to piss off the fanbase once again, give Hordies something they love (no matter how many BS and claim they are upset about it) and the Alliance most rotten of Alliance races, the Dwarves and Humans, the props of 'at least I have a home'. And the noble fight? What noble fight, they got their teeth kicked in and lost in the worst atrocity in the WoW timeline, an atrocity that will go unavenged. Undercity will be written off as the tit for tat with Darnassus even though Undercity was an Alliance defeat and the inhabitants of it didn't get anything close to what they deserved. And with weak leaders like Anduin who will not use fear, terror, pain, chaos and blood to destroy the Horde like it needs, all the deaths in Teldrassil and the annihilation of the night elf race will be unavenged. And I'm pretty damned sure they will never get a home city again. If you are a night elf player and see victory by way of the Alliance winning and not your people winning by retaking their land and making those who genocided them pay with the blood and destruction of everything they hold dear, you're doing it wrong. The Alliance 'coming' for the Horde is a joke. The Alliance, it's weak leadership, it's spineless 'morality' and it's refusal to understand that their survival is at stake so long as the Horde sucks air, is a toothless, emaciated lion that will continue to get its ass kicked, just like at Undercity.
I'd be down for some Everquest style faction system where the factions as a whole still don't get along and cities will attack you for entering them but you can group up with members of those factions to face a common enemy.
These detail should have been put in-game i don't know who made the decision to put so much important info out of the game but they should rethink what they are doing .....
I still think as I thought years ago that something more than just Sylvanas came back from where ever she went when she died the last 2 times, once by her own hand and once in Silverpines.... dying 3 times cannot have been good for her sanity either....Sadly there are major plot holes remaining...I just hope they keep Zappy Boi we need some fresh young blood for the Horde :)Blizzard will never get me to choose a side. I have been mainly playing Horde but I have Alli char too, also play them. Whole faction vibe ... pfI like to see both sides of a Coin. And the rim also if there is one :D
" shoehorn everything into an A v H conflict seems forced at points."Exactly.
The loa had a reason to put Sylvanus in Vol'jin's stead, perhaps we will learn that reason this expansion with the continuation of Vol'jin's story
