What happens if the mobs that got pick-pocketed is killed? Does the counter reset / get reduced? Is there some kind of internal timer on how often Pick Pocket can be used in a specific time frame before the debuff is triggered?
Don't bots use the "right clicking movement" feature? How about tampering with it? Or add some captcha after entering a dungeon?
So I did some testing myself:-The debuff got applied after exactly eight pick pockets reliably-Killing a mob that has been pick-pocketed reduces the counter by one-If you manage to get far enough away from your previous victims, the counter seems to be reset. Not exactly sure how far you have to move, but its farther than the clients render distance-After you received the debuff, the only way to remove it seems to be diying or waiting trough the 30 minutes. Killing pick-pocketed mobs afterwards does nothing-Pick pocketing trivial mobs does NOT trigger the debuff (f.i. I was able to pick pocket whole Stockades)-Leaving and re-entering an instance (without resetting the instance itself) resets the counter-If the counter is based on time, its > 5 minutes
It's really one of the most obvious examples how Blizzard works today. They rather have one dev to implement this thing that cost perhaps 15 hours or so to do than invest in ongoing personnel that would check and ban bots. So much cheaper and - ultimately - so much more inefficient. The first report I saw about BRD farming rogues was back in September and it took over 6 months until that was dealt with. And basically over a year until this change is now being implemented. If bots have free reign until action finally hits them, it's no wonder there's so many of them. Must be very profitable if every new method can be used for months (after players notice and report) until they get to it. But handling bots faster and making it less profitable costs Blizzard money, so they just don't do it.
I think Bliz still allows normal players to steal money from mobs in a regular farming way. I'm not sure if the bots pick up the money using auto-pickup. If so, the loot list can include an item like "jingle bell" that when bots select to have it in the inventory, the mobs will recognize the thieves and attack them. Only normal players will choose the money loot by clicking the mouse step by step and be aware of taking in the bell.
this is outrageous wait till Garrett hears of this >:(
This totaly kills the RP of my character and my play style of going into dungeons and pick pocketing as much as possible when ever I'm bored...
whats blizzard going to do when bots are just farming mobs in the world? nerf the amount of mobs you can kill per hour?i won't be playing this mess
"hey we can't bother to even fix botting let alone mage boosting so lets add something that also just punishes normal people"lol
Link's Awakening reference anyone?
Gonna curb normal people too. wtf
Just did some testing on SoM beta.Killing mobs in between pickpockets seems to prevent the debuff from occurring. Meaning you should be able to still pickpocket in dungeon groups.I was able to clear the first room of BRD, pickpocketing and killing all of the Dark Iron Wardens in the room. No debuff.I reset the instance and started only pickpocketing, and hit the debuff after just 8. More than just targeting gold farmers, this might be another attempt to push people either out into the world or into actual group content. Just like countering aoe cleave runs.Maybe they'll target DM farming next.Update: You can still pickpocket the Grim Guzzler Key from Plugger Spazzring with the debuff on. So if a greedy rogue starts pickpocketing all the grim guzzler patrons and gets the debuff, you can still get the key for the door.
