They're welcome to *!@#$ and blizzard's welcome to ignore them. One of these sides has the final say.
I get it and it's terrible that they're losing their jobs. However, if the positions are being eliminated, they're probably redundant...What does striking accomplish? I hope they get all of their demands met and everything, but I don't really get this move.
An industry with no job security inevitably fails. The AAA gaming industry has been riding a bubble for over a decade now, and that bubble's starting to burst, because who the *!@# is going to work their best long-term when being worn down by the stress of knowing you have no security in your livelihood? That's why Nintendo opted for pay cuts at the executive level when they had a particularly rough year--it was explicitly said that they can't reasonably expect the best work from their employees if they're constantly living beneath a Sword of Damocles.
The people making these calls probably know better than all you kiddos having an opinion on wowhead forums about how a company makes hard decisions. With that said, they could wait until the pandemic is over, they can at least afford that much...
I'm guessing those unions are planning on paying the salaries of those workers should they successfully force blizzard to keep the building open? Or are the unions planning to reimburse blizzard for the money hemorrhages by keeping it open?
if you are blaming activision for anything wrong with blizzard you are delusional .. best example is destiny .. wow's employee salary were dog^&*! before the merge.. do not get personally attached to a logo or company like an idiot.. what you want is simple just a good game..
Full and complete solidarity with the workers. Sick of the capitalist apologia in these comments.
What kind of person do you have to be to look at hundreds of people losing their livelihoods and immediately try to justify it? Show some humanity. Who care's what is best for Activision's profits, unless you are directly getting a cut then you sure as hell shouldn't. But you know what you should care about, the well being of a fellow worker and human being.
Strikes work when it's impacting business. Seeing how it's closing shop down there in France, a strike isn't going to be doing that now is it? :|
