I have altitis too.The problem is, that I want to raid a lot so I'm focusing all my effort on my main Paladin atm.But there's always that thought in my head whispering "What if I've rolled ___?"(Besides, sometimes a Pally can be really boring).Every week I start an alt, level him to 5-10, and then I delete him because it keeps me from focusing on my main (that's changing specs everyday so I need to get 3 different sets of gear).Man, I'm sick!
Dont worry about it :) a guy in my guild have ALL classes at 80 now :) and have had for abit :) i my self have 4, and i just do it cause i think its fun, the rest of classes i have inbetween 70 and 76... i like a change in play when i aint raiding, and pug raiding as different types. If not pvping :)
I'm at:80 Paladin 80 Shaman80 Death Knight (H)70 Priest70 Druid68 Hunter64 Mage (H)I really didn't realize until I posted this list that I've just got a Warlock, Rogue, and Warrior to go...Sadly, I have a reasoning behind rolling each character. Wall of Text incoming. My first toon ever, many years ago, was my Paladin (pre, pre TBC). I levelled very slowly, but enjoyed it immensely. After TBC hit, I leveled him to 70 and raided as Holy in a Kara/Gruul guild for a while. Once I heard about the nerf to Illumination, I decided to roll a Holy Priest. I had a TON of fun leveling as Shadow, and decided to stay Shadow. I soon made this character my main and raided throughout TBC (up until Kalecgos).I was getting very frustrated with my guild at that time and decided to join a reroll guild as a Resto Druid and power-leveled from 0-70 on a completely new server. It was a ton of fun, but that guild disbanded after clearing Kara/ZA and never made it to 25-mans. I server-transferred once or twice, raided as Feral, went back to my Shadow Priest, etc. I then joined another re-roll with the same group of people (Horde) and got a Mage to 64 before quitting the game for a while.Enter WotLK. Leveled my Paladin first and have raided extensively. My brother quit the game and I took over his account and leveled his 64 Shaman to 80 for guild alt runs. I had so many Emblems that I bought full Bind on Account gear for a new Hunter (Two daggers, two trinkets, the bow, and shoulders). I have recently decided to start anew once again on a Horde Death Knight who recently hit 80. Great fun.I just like the prospect of starting over and at this point, leveling from 0-70 takes nearly zero time at all for me.
Only 3 80s? Dude that's not massive amounts of alts by any means. You can only raid so much per week. If you're not a hard core arena person it only takes like an hour per week. After that if you play like the average person does, 2-5 hours a day, what's left to do but acheivments or alts? Back in burning crusade I had three 70s fully decked out in arena gear. That was a little crazy trying to balance 9 different teams lol. Currently I have:80 hunter - main raider, recently stopped doing pvp80 rogue - was first 8070 dk - will be my main pvper soon70 lock - leftover from bc70 warrior - same30 paladin - if I ever decide to heal he's on the way upAnd that's just horde side. Alliance side I have two 60 warriors, a 60 rogue and paladin all from vanilla. Alting is very normal, I'd expect anyone who's played from release to have 2-3 80s by now and a bunch of toons in their 30s+
I've tried both honestly, and I prefer alt-ing to endgame. I've got two servers with maxed number of characters and another server with 3 characters that I'm working on. Not all are 80, or even 60, but that's because I never got out of my head the horrid level 30 to level 50 grind that classic had before Blizz eased up on the exp and droprates. I love getting characters through the level 1-10 and 20-30 zones, especially belfs and draenei since you can tell they spent a lot more effort making those zones all scripted and fancy. Softcore raiding in BC wasn't that bad to be honest. I enjoyed Kara, Gruul, and Mag. But I quickly lost interest in the 'more difficult' raids our guild moved on to (TK and SSC, I stopped raiding before they hit/beat BT) and returned to my altitis. I enjoy having high-level professions that cover nearly any need my friends might have and having a variety of class/race combos that I can dive into and find one with a specific playstyle I'm looking for at any given time.
First character was a Troll Rogue... I loved him Q.Q Had 3 80s, 2 70s and a 62, then I did something again Blizzard's ToU (Don't ask) and now I'm playing a 62 hunter and druid. (Go go 3x Experience - Recruit-a-Friend!) Never really had much of a reason to level multiple characters, just got bored went to another, etc. ect. After awhile I started to have a mental breakdown on who to play though, as you can only realistically raid with one character.
Hello, my name is Cal and I'm an altoholic. I'm ashamed to say that after playing for a little over two years now I've never made it past the 60s due to time constraint issues. I find that one or two hours of free time is not enough for many of the higher level quest lines and never enough time for most instances (the fun ones mainly). The first toon I made was a NE hunter, she's still sitting at 52. My "main" atm is a Troll rogue that's made it to level 63 but my laptop/internet has so many issues whenever I try to play in Outlands that I've begun to hate logging in with her. There are many more, too many to recall specifics, but I can say for certain that I have a made a toon of every race and class combo possible. No favorite starter zone. I luvs me some Stranglethorn, tho.The shame... oh, how it hurts.
I'm kinda addicted to alts. The catch is that in bursts of depression I go through huge purges which I regret immediately. My main character, a level 80 Night Elf hunter, had a very unsteady road to 80, constantly being interrupted by alts, but with my second level 80, a Draenei paladin, I've managed to curb my altistic tendancies by constant respeccing and haircuts. Hell, I even payed for the character recustomization at one point.Expensive, but it works.
I alwasy want to lvl an alt and I love the 30-60 leveling areas but my god that 1-20 is so boring I normaly fall out and say never again. I have a 80dk a 70 pally a 35 hunter and then like 9 to 15 other characters ranging from 8 to 16. If I could get a friend to hook up with me I would be in heaven blow through those levels and never have to worry about them again.
