Quality questions, looking forward on some concrete answers from Blizzard on this one, hopefully they will make the right decisions as the current fiasco made alot of players quit.
For end of each 12 month cycle, just merge characters into Classic Era. Done.Just leave in Chronoboon, and activate world buffs in a particular raid instance once 1 or 2 phases has passed:- MC world buffs unlock in phase 3 (BWL) or 4 (ZG)- BWL world buffs unlock in Phase 5 (AQ)- AQ world buffs unlock in Phase 6)- Naxx world buffs--don't unlock since characters could be merged into Classic Era after a few months, where world buffs are activateSince it's a faster cadence, this will help people clear "old" content, but without taking out the difficulty of performing the content when it's current.
I understand blizz wants to keep the cow alive to milk more for the people but.. imo i think a new game with new lore needs to happen from blizz. wow kinda old and quite frankly no longer holds the magic it once had.
I think disabling WBuffs is an immense improvement, really favours the balance in favour of ranged instead of just stacking warriors. Also means you don't have to sit in Org for half an hour waiting for the head to pop until you can actually play the game again.
dead game before release if no world buffs. no serious player will be there
What a great feeling to see the Hardcore community mentioned in a wowhead article! To anyone that havent tried it yet, i can only recommend it! I fell in love with this mode instantly! Such a great community, and simply the best way to play Classic wow! See you on the other side! All Aboard the Hype Train! :D
i love salvdali, and i understand why someone as hardcore as him wants world buffs to stay, but i think most players that aren't hardcore world first-racing speed-running maniacs would agree that world buffs were simply an annoyance, and for alot of people, including myself, it tore us apart from the game. i quit halfway through AQ40 progression, just wasn't having fun anymore, but the best gaming experience i've ever had is leveling in classic, so i'm really excited to go in for a 2nd time.
I don't completely understand why no WBs would make hardcore people quit. You can still be the top speedrun guild without WBs. Are those people upset that the game will be harder? Or that their dps will be lower?
Regarding World Buffs, very few private servers allow them in raid instances--at least until the content is old. I can't imagine this is a make-or-break feature for hardcore Classic players. Also, if the debuff limit is removed AND WBs are allowed, bosses will literally drop in 30 seconds or less. Blizz is already increasing boss health with due to debuff limit removal and would need to increase health even more with WBs.As for increasing the loot drop rate, why does it need to be increased? Who says anyone needs to be "fully geared" before AQ opens? Keeping the loot drops rates the same and increasing cadence will just separate the dogs from the pups, as players with better skill will be able to move onto the next raid tier more easily. The lesser-skilled guilds will need to keep farming and take a little longer, but that's what competition is about. Also, hardcore guilds will be doing split runs anyway, making the gearing process even more of a joke if more loot is dropped.
This is a fantastic work around and one I would welcome. Great idea.
Many private servers did alter the world buffs. One of them disabled WB for the first month of a new tier - and players were fine. The main question of the article should be - "will it be a how it was played version?" versus "how it was technically back then" as the initial release. Either Madseasons or Frostadamus talked about it - how "no chances" lead to "a lot of changes" made by players so alternative Classic version could block "optimizing the fun away" by blocking any non-vanilla spirit parts of the game.Next key question - will they remove majority of instance exp or will they just break few mage pulls? - if they just break few mage pulls then the whole change and idea is kind of pointless as people will spellcleave/anycleave to 60. Either give people the "nochanges" and let them degrade the gampley or make something cohesive. Removing most exp from instance mobs will make questing the optimal leveling route - instead of instances out in the PvE and PvP world. Note that private server did not had such exp in instances and doing instances was really bad for exp ;)Third - will the realms have a smaller population cap and will botting actually be banned quicker and more "effectively? - if they make megarealms then it's not really the "original" experience and creates over-inflated economy/best spot for botting/RMT.In the end I would like to see at least a discussion about P1 short with no raids, P2 with both raids and DM ~2 weeks later. Some pservers did this - to hold sweaties but also to make THE BEST phase ever existed. I was on such server and the preparation was insanely cool as people cooperated, offered services, looked for farmers and so on (and you had to rely on people as there was no 1000 bots to spam AH - low population and no bots meant that each farmer/crafter had huge impact on the community - sill remember how Rumsey Black Label was released day before AQ40 raid and after listing few on AH I got whispers about orders for larger quantities of that stuff from speed guilds). The other option is to merge ZG phase with AQ phase launching scarab/war effort 1-2 weeks after the patch - pure ZG patch is kind of hollow for open world. Having ZG + Silithus give way more activity (unless ZG would be quickly after BWL?).Blizz also needs bit better communication on the 12-month idea. Some see it as "rush" or "go go go" mentality while if they kill instance exp it will be way slower to level than Classic was. People still expect they have to have all their alts and gear. Some pservers run some expansions at 2x speed having fresh merged to static realm each time content progression ends. People can continue playing on static or roll new toon on fresh - either to level organically or try rushing raids in 1/2 the time - and if there will be a "quick" leveling like *cleave in Classic Seasons then leveling zones will be empty after a month for those few that still would want to do it "organically".So will this be semi-finished not-how-it-was and not-how-it-was-played or will they try to do the latter?
If given the choice, I will choose NO WORLD BUFFS IN RAIDS! Woot!I don't mind if they want to give options, but please make sure we get the option to not have them in raids. Cheers!
Blizzard please can you make specific special realms that offer world buffs and pre nerf alterac valley and x1 levelling servers and classic arena and alliance vs alliance battlegroundsYou did that with pvp pve and rpThis will make everyone happySpecial realms Removing bots and mage boosting helps the gameMerge the original batching servers with no batch servers but obviously they are both separate serversMake a world buff and non world buff realm each for Oceanic and European and usMaybe the new faerlina will be a world buff server and maybe whitemane won’t etcDo this for both horde and alliance dominated servers maybeAnd the same for pre nerf and post nerf AvAnd the same with world buff realms and non world buff realms And a realm that has x1 levelling while others are notMaybe add new cinematics showing Katrana prestor actually glaring at the hero when you speak to highlord Bolvar and she might need a voice actress. Have short movie cinematics like final fantasyThen when she turns into a dragon have her actually have a cinematic where she turns into I’m the dragon onyxia and kidnaps Anduin and we are sent to save him instead of varian. Who knows Please don’t add new spells to classes Asmons new class idea is badIf you want to add new classes release wotlkAnd maybe add items as a special addition like talisman of binding shard or ashbringerAnd maybe make the ashbringer a special event of scarlet monastery where you need to do a major special secret classic and tbc quest event quest and you can only do it once a month and it’s very very hard. Classic arena can maybe be a queue up like retro wow did where you stand on the gnomish or goblin teleporter and it ques you for classic arena on a special serverIf you want to improve classes don’t change them so much, people will quit if you do because you will turn the game into a completely different game. Just make small changes. I warn everyone. They change the game too much and people will complain about that. The best thing blizzard can do is fix internal cool downs like shadow oil and neretzek the blood drinker life drains for paladins. Do go buffing the actual paladin spells please. I like playing as the underdog. It gives me motivation. Only change the very silly bugged things. Like seal of command bugs and thick obsidian breastplate internal cool downs and hunter bugs etc. don’t nerf op items or buff weak class spells. Just fix the little bugs associated with them like spells working weird. For example. Reckoning charges dropping if you change targets.Blizzard if you make one server with everything in it it may fail but if you make many servers that have different features you widen it and there’s a less chance people will complainThis is an idea heroes at blizzardNever give up
Good, a chance for the more casual player to experience Classic, without having to stress about world buffs from being peer pressured by the sweaties.
I know it's old code, but they should do seasonal and hardcore characters just like in Diablo 3.Once the season is over, you have a choice to make it a permanent character or not on another server.World buff gone is a very good thing, that was the most annoying thing from Classic, having to gather those to even have decent parses... people want to raid log in those games, we're old and don't have the same amount of time to min/max as we used to.
is salvdali supposed to be a play on Salvador Dalí? nice name if so. legendary artist of our times, if only his opinion was nice. world buffs are a plague on the game. after some research i seen he was in <Onslaught> so that explains enough about him. just another warrior in classic who wishes he was ahlaundoh. see you guys in fresh
Chronoboon was a terrible concept.Just make world buffs undispellable and remove them from players who accept a summon. This will give movement in the world, and force guilds to run to raid together to keep their world buffs instead of summoning inside walls atleast on pvp servers.
