You want to know why WoW is ahaving a bat time?Players.I want everything! I want them now! I wsnt to be the best! And I don't want to do anything to earn it!This game is now full of sissies. They want everything and they don't want to do anything to get them. I blame more players then the game. When milions of sissies whine about something and lets say like Mage and their "OP" damage and they blindly ignore what it is and how hard is to master Mage."They OP! Need nerf! Nerf nerf! Neeerrrrf! Nerf them to ground!"People in this game have became ignorant, unpatient, whiner sissies. Removed
I think the player base as it sits is very old in the sense that most have been playing since BC or early WotLK. When you play for that long, there's not a lot left to explore and discover. I'm also afraid that WoW has become more of a novelty game than a gamer's game. Back in the day when people found out you played WoW you were really dorky, nerdy, and really a gamer. Now that WoW has lost it's lackluster and it's newness, it's really just become another game. Sure, it revolutionalized MMOs in a lot of ways but there really has not been anything new or different since it's launch.
I may be wrong but it seems to me that they started losing players as they started to cater to new players. Making things easier, catering to people that were new to the genre, making leveling easier, traveling easier, dungeon finder, LFR, etc. In my opinion catering to primarily console players which tend to bore faster I think is a mistake. WoW started it all and nobody else has come close, they may not have the best graphics but it allows those that don't have wicked computers to still play. In their zeal to recruit new players they have run off their most loyal players. The dailies are awful. I don't mind CRZ so much. I do miss the social aspect of the game, but I do think the world bosses have helped that a bit. I've seen a lot of my WoW friends disappear, old guilds fall apart. It's a shame really. I'm a bit bored too. We switched from a really heavy server due to login times and that has helped, the economy is better. The game used to be a lot slower and the raids were epic, dungeons were long, traveling took forever. The gear was much better looking which I think was the driving factor behind transmog. I think it just boils down to the game was simpler before Cata and now it's just too busy, too much going on, overwhelming at times, what to do now, so much so that I just give up rather than trying to decide what to do with my limited time in the game, the irony being that they were trying to simplify the game. Anymore I just login and run around the tree bored then walk away and go watch TV. On the weekend, I may work on leveling a character or a profession, do some transmog runs with friends, but that's about it anymore.
i have been playing for 5 and half years, i still play now, but the game has become too grindy, too many dailies and too much rep to farm. my guild used to have about 100 plus on a night, since mists the guild has died off and your lucky to see 10 online at once now. many friends have come and gone and frankly i dont think blizz care about how they make the game they're just trying to bang out content to make money. in my opinion i don't think they have put much effort into raids since lich king. ICC for instance, was a very detailed and very hard raid, where you had to gear up inside (with each quarter) the raid before even going onto the next quarter. i miss this kind of raid, i managed to gear for throne of thunder in LFR in a week, to me that's not much of a challenge. i do enjoy wow, but i wish blizz would go back to their roots of the vanilla days. maybe then people will come back.
For me, it's just lots of little things. So many new things to try:Collecting MoP rare treasures (no bag space left)Brawler's guildPet battles (Why are there so many kinds of rabbit/snake/frog/etc...?)Bone grinding on Isle of GiantsThe farm and friendship repsSolo scenario key run (why do we need so much gold and yet so many gold sinks?)Lots of new battlegroundsNew PvP zones in PvE realmsetc...But I rarely do anything new anymore because I know It's going to be nerfed in the future:LFR (the ultimate nerf)Normal and heroic raid progressive nerfsReroll loot tokensMassive XP/Rep bonusesReduction in time to level (85-90 is pretty fast already)Rep commendationsFaction tagging (hit once, walk away, get loot)6000 Valor legendary quest -> 3000 Valor legendary questLegendaries for all (not very legendary)Blacksmithing ghost-iron leveling 1-600 (making a frying pan is more instructive than a huge axe?)MoP Herbalism buff comingTons of valor and gold and coins for doing daliesBuffing VP in dungeons and scenarios100g world item spawns that give huge XPMoP Archaeology for grinding non-MoP ArchaeologyArchaeology leveling fast and grainting huge XPNat Pagle rep grindFarm rep grindFarm resource grind (ore and leather and cloth from plants?)Zandalari book dropsEven the nerfs get nerfed:LFR fail buffsBuffing RNG for reroll tokensElder charms dropping from everything (pet battles?)Cutting the cost on reroll tokensBand-aid rep grinding tokens from warbringers (unless a Blood DK is soloing them)Even more resources from the farmAnd all the strange design decisions:Simplified talent treesScenarios instead of dungeonsClasses drifting towards each other (mages are a pet class?)Arbitrary gold sink profession matsThe warlock book drops from IoT rares?Valor "books" drop from IoT rares?JP is for what now?The old reroll tokens are... money now? To buy... rocks?Fishing is still really boringCRZAnd all the imbalance in how to achieve in the game. Why bust ass trying to get into the newest raid when the next patch will give me rep based valor gear that is way better for practically no effort?I'm not a great raider by any stretch. But, when I got gear in wrath, I felt awesome because I wasn't walking through the tourist version of a raid. I had to learn strats. I had to care about my fellow raiders. I had to get out of the fire. There was a sense of accomplishment I don't feel waltzing through ToT in LFR. We died? AWESOME! We get a buff! Did I get gear? No? Click a button to try again! Didn't get any that time? We'll fix that so you do! World bosses? That sounds exciting! Nope, just hit it once and finish my dailies. Didn't fight the world boss? Wait 15 min, he'll be back! Cata was too slow? MoP is turbo charged! New content every 3 days! It's a bizarre combination of feeling overwhelmed for stuff to do but at the same time being unable to muster the motivation to do it all because I know with 100% certainty it will be easier later or gone completely or changed into something completely different. What's the solution? I'm not sure there is one. It feels kind of out of control and needs to be reined in. Drastic, reactionary changes aren't fixing anything. They're just adding to the chaos.
CRZ is the real cataclysm...Just get fewer servers running, i'd personally move to another one with all my guildies anytime if it's free and if it can stop that CRZ *!@#.
Good. This is what Blizzard deserves for being adamant in their thought on how things are and not listening to their fan base. They decided to slow down the game for casual players by making drop rates lower so that those who raided 6 hours a night 4 to 5 nights a week would not cry that the game was too easy anymore. So by alienating those if their core subscribers who don't want to be bogged down with dailies to gear because they want gear but can not get gear because the devs are hellbent on keeping the game slow so that not everyone is seeing heroic raids. Force people into dailies to stay with the pack see how well that works. I believe some server merging may be necessary to save the underpopulated ones or more people will leave soon.

Quarter 1 was also busy for Blizzard--they announced Diablo III coming to consoles, Hearthstone was revealed at PAX East, and Heart of the Storm launched in March. You mean Heart of the Swarm?
Well , no news about it, too much power in single hands without supervision means that u gonna crack sometime.A lot of bad changes trying to reduce costs well guess what. u reduced the player base too.well done GC ! i bet on u and i win !
Just stop with adding in daily quest after daily quest and focus more on what the players want, not what YOU want Blizzard.
All these speculations as to the cause for the sub loss seem to all stem from the individuals personal pet peeve with the game, when in fact people stop playing for a multitude of reasons.Players with personal grievances toward the game fail to acknowledge this and more importantly fail to see the real reason, the game is getting old and there simply aren't as many new players to take the place of players that leave. The good news is profits are actually up this quarter, which means of course the game will continue for those of us that still love it, despite its imperfections.
Typo fixed >.> Had to leave the thread a bit and go help some devs with battle pet data before.
I have played, nearly daily, since late Vanilla. WoW was a full blown 'addiction' for me. I continued to play steadily through the first few months of MoP, but the repetitive grind of dailies, finally did me in. Logging in was no longer 'fun'...it seemed almost mandatory to spend at least an hour doing dailies. And with each new patch, more dailies. I stopped raiding regularly because of schedule issues, LFR was just to easy, or too full of some form of jackass, and everything else just sort of dwindled away. No more 5 mans, (at least not worth running), professions were stupid easy to max out, farming mats was no linger needed because professions were nerfed...ect. I still have my sub, and I probably will keep it. I do still pop in game from time to time, but it has been more than a month (I have yet to do anything since 5.2) since I actually 'played'.
Forgive my ignorance but what is CRZ? I have been playing since vanilla but do not raid or run dungeons with groups. I am mainly a solo player. I liked MOP adventuring in the new areas but the grind of dailies is beginning to get on my nerves as I am doing them on my second toon now. I enjoy being able to get good gear tho with VP, again because I do not run raids in order to get my gear. I realize I have to do the dailies in order for me to get the gear I need. I suppose I cannot complain. I haven't been tempted to quit although all my kids and grandkids have quit because of class nerfs mostly. Being an older player with allot of time to play now that I am retired, I must say the game is still keeping me interested.
I've been playing since late 2005 and still love it. I think the only question is "where's the bottom?" Guys like me will keep playing as long as there's new content...and probably a couple years past that.
