My favorite zone would have to be Mount Hyjal. It is a great zone with a great questline.
My favorite zone was Zul'drak. Something about the architecture of the zone itself was a breath of fresh air. The follow up to Drakuru's quest chain gave me one of the first quest chains that actually made me care and feel interested. Not to mention fighting with the Argent Crusade against the scourge presence that caused the trolls to turn on their gods.Overall, it was a great experience, the only way it could have been better was if I had a sweet headset to hear the music clearer(That hint was about as subtle as a Billy Goat Blaster DX)
Gnomergan, may be a small-time dungeon, but it's a glimpse into how the Gnome's life was before the Troggs and the leperecy. They are an amazing technologically advanced race, if a little out-there. When Dwarves had gunpowder these pint-ize inventors had hydrolic lifts in this awesome sprawling city.
This is easy. Uldum. I thought about Nagrand, because it's so beautiful and I would totally live there if I could. I thought about Sholozar, for similar reasons. But it all comes back to Uldum. I remember the first time I ever saw the gates of Uldum there in Tanaris, back in Ye Olden Vanillae Dayes, and I was dying to know what was behind there. I was positive it was all awesome and fascinating and and and OH GOD LET ME IN THERE, but no. We couldn't. But now we can.And it was worth the wait.I quested through there, and I read every last line of text. I treated that zone like it was a novel and I was participating in the writing. And I loved every second of it. And I can't wait to do it again.
I would have to say that playing the pre-Shattering Hillsbrad Foothills as any non-Forsaken race was my favorite zone, quest wise. You immersed yourself in the culture of your "allies", and if you actually paid attention to the quests and npcs, realized they are borderline malicious. All the way down to recovering Hercule's rod and releasing him on Southshore and lowbie alliance players.
Northern Barrens, story on the horde side made feel for poor taurens.
Black Temple would be my choice, great music, it was a cool time in the game, i mean, "you are not prepared" = epic, illidans encounter was pretty leet, everyone was looking forward to complete this raid, plus you could get Illidans warglaives!. This raid have it all music, legendary items, the coolest boss, and imo the best items collection ever: Bulwark of Azzinoth, Cursed Vision of Sargeras, Shard of Azzinoth, etc.
I love Grizzly Hills because of the whole Great Outdoors experience you get while in the zone. Plus, the music is really relaxing no matter what time of the day it is.
Looking at Dun Morogh I remember my first gnome mage toon and bring back memories :3
I've always loved Duskwood. As a primarily a alliance player, it was the first "dark, gloomy, and spooky" zone I encountered. I especially loved it in vanilla WoW, when you were never quite sure whether or not Stitches would be on the road and kill you, and you had to be very very careful in parts of Raven Hill Cemetary, or Mor'Ladim would sneak up on you and kill you *and* your friends.
