Pre-Shattering Thousand Needles. The idea of all the small interconnected plateaus making all small towns interested me. How great the drop it was to get to the bottom. The steam pools and nests of creatures making their homes at the bottom. The shimmering flats was an interesting idea to putting the neutral goblin vs gnome race track there made it unique and very different from the needle part of the zone, putting two opposites next to each other.
My favorite zone is KEZAN! I've made dozens of goblins already because their my favorite race since Blood Elves lol. Kezan was masterfully done, it was mind blowing to see it!Don't forget to stop by Vinny Slapchop on your way out either because sadly, you'll never go back!

uldum, without a doubt.flying around this zone for the first time and having been to egypt you can see what and how blizzard have tried to capture the essence of ancient egypt.golden flowing sands, oasis water holes, semi destroyed relics of an ancient civilisation, it's all there!the music brings the whole zone to life and that's why i love it when my archaeology digs take me to uldum.
NagrandWasn't very active in those times.. but the scenery alone is amazing. Sunset on a floating rock in Nagrand is like no other.
Special place in my heart still holds Dwarf staring zone, and whole Dun Morogh. It's where i 1st made my 1st ever char back in late 2006 on some pirate server with lot of buggs. It was first time i saw and experienced the world and magic of WoW,my first killed npc. Than a year after bought game, and again started in Dun Morogh as dwarf again. And still today i go there to lvl with every new alt.I vote for Dun Morogh.
I would say that my favorit zone is Gm island lulz.Because it's great fun, nothing better than going to gm island and get banned. ;)
I like Vashj'ir the most because being an underwater area is just awesome, the seahorse mount is amazingly fast, and the bosses down there are fun to kill. The quest line was also great.
My favorite zone in this game was and is Karazahn. Yeah, its an instance, but its still a zone.In fact in my humble opinion most of the best zones in this game are instanced areas. Battle for Mount Hyjal, Kara, Black Temple, Sunwell, Blackwing Lair, Molten Core.. All these areas are steeped in lore and were highly challenging at there prime. They offered a lot for many people, and there was a lot of blood, sweat and tears spilled there. After The Burning Crusade the games instanced zones just didn't have that grand scale anymore. It's one of the reasons I'm so excited about Firelands.EDIT: also my "OTHER" favorite zone is where ever Noxy is. Damn, that woman can draw! :3
I must say Blasted Lands before the first expansion was out, camping that zone for the elusive Lord Kazzak and those simply AMAZING Fel Infused Leggings, it sure took a while but it was well worth it, not to mention everything else in that zone, i feel that zone was way underestimated back then, now, its not the same, fel infused leggings and lord kazzak is long gone, at least in that zone, but it still offers some nice and easy leveling from 54-58 where you are just a big-a$$ portal away from Hellfire Peninsula.
My favorite zone was always be Tanaris. Something about the pirates, Sandfury, Caverns of Time, and endless sand. It just gets to me.
My favorite zone would be the old Alterac Valley, That place was an entire community in itself since it provided quests, miniature distractions, gave a feeling of a controlled open pvp while having raid elements, awesome battles that lasted for days at times, good loot and better tactics to break the constant amount of respawning players at home base.
