I like a priest-but-not-cleric role, so what I get into varies greatly by game. Sometimes the only caster is a pure mage and glass cannon is not for me. If I can't get some utility or healing or necromancy into my casting mix, then anything's possible class-wise!
I always play a healer, right now, a priest. I feel that its the heart of the battle. If I do it good, we are all good.

I usually enjoy playing the least played class, most of the time its a dps class, but i find the least played classes are generally a bit more challenging, so i like a good challenge
DPS class that can wield 2h weapons because attack is the best defense or something like that.
As a monk, I've learned a great deal of self control over the years. I am anon-violent, non-confrontational path of least resistance sort of person. But like all people, the urge to be physically aggressive exists within me. As such, I like to play melee classes, especially high-DPS or Tanking classes, so I have a cathartic outlet for such feelings and compulsions. It's far more satisfying to beat the monsters to pieces than to stand back and throw spells or arrows. In real life when someone wants to harm you, or dislikes you, it's better to simply smile and try to appease them, or walk away, avoiding conflict and making people feel better. It's better to bring joy than sorrow, and show others how much better that is for the world as well. In a video game, however, when you run at me I can take out a hatchet and chop your head off, and /dance on the body to show them the error of their ways, which is what many of us are compelled by nature to do. So I play melee classes to do in video games what I've sworn to never do in the real world.
I love casters, expecially mages, the chance to use arcane power it's probably the dream of most people who play rpgs, as caster i like the challenge to be powerful but with low resistances, that let me play my role like a real wizard like those of the legends, powerful but not immortal! :)
I usually play rogue/warrior styled classes. I like to smash things up!
Melee/Ranged, light armor and quick attacks.
I usually like to play caster classes at first then work my way to the melee. I always take pride in seeing people die before they touch me >:) mwuahahahahaha
I prefer to play ranged classes like archer or in wow a hunter.
I used to always play wizard-esque classes, but I've been gravitating more towards rangers lately. Arrows are fun!
The past few games I have tended to be a melee type. I like the spiritual warrior archetype. So paladin/monk, that sort of thing. In pen and paper games I have also like stealthy type characters.
Tank; I can't stand to be in the back throwing sticks or spells... I like to be right "in the thick of it", build threat, and laugh at attempts to kill me. In the Amalur demo I tweaked that a bit and still kept the sword an shield, but threw in the spells for combos.
