I have played casters ever since Aardwolf. (MUDs, ye olde-school MMOs.) I prefer to analyze things from afar, edge closer, and then rain death upon my helpless foes. About the only exception to this was Diablo 1 - I played a Ranger.

I have always preferred up close and personal, the rogue is my favorite. Untouchable, unseen, death.
Hello there! I'm PaladinWat, and I prefer melee-based characters in role-playing games. I enjoy running into the fray, getting my hands dirty, and making things happen. However, I do not dislike casting-based classes. Helping from a safe distance can be an advantage, especially if you are a tired old wizard like my mage.
Normally an archer of some sort, staying away from my enemy feels more satisfying than getting in the creature's face.
I tend to go towards a melee class, usually to do shed loads of dps but im beginning to prefer the tanking side of melee. i just like the idea of everything attacking me to no prevail as i rise out of the mound of twisted bodies that were once my enemies :D
Melee. Usually i play classes that need a lot of player skill bcuz it is way more fun.
I normally go for the holy warrior/knight type roles, I'm a big fan of the paladin class and enjoy being able to utilize magic which enhances my close-quarter combat abilities.
I usually go with the caster-type, as long as they have some ability to survive on their own.
I usually like to play whatever can do the most damage the fastest, which usually means I play a caster or some type, though in any game that'll let me summon minions of some type I gotta go with the summoner. It's always a lot of fun to send your li'l critter in and make them do all the work, lol.
I am learning toward melee although I tend to play mages.
I use to play the healer a lot but then I started getting tired of having the easy job, or so it seemed to me. I am more of a tank class now, I really like being the one up in the bosses face saying: Hey you, your not tough at all. I guess I like being the one every one has to depend upon to really do their job. :) There is just something to being a tank that I can not explain I just love it, nothing seems to fit right anymore ever since I picked up that sword and shield. Also, I always feel like when I am getting aggro or taunting a boss that my character is yelling some sort of insult to the boss to get his attention.
I usually play casters. I enjoy ranged classes, and casters often have a lot of utility and flexibility that melee classes don't.Otherwise, I enjoy playing roguelike classes. Stealth and powerful ambushes are my second favorite way to go, besides huge fireballs.
Caster all the way!
I am almost always a caster of some sort. :) Mage, wizard, necromancer, whatever you wanna call em.
The Thief/Rouge/Sneaky type. I like to be light on my feet and be able to sneak around anything that might turn me into a red spot on the floor.
I tend to play melee warrior like classes. But after playing the demo for Reckoning, i'm going to have to go with the Assassin like gameplay. I'm just hoping there's something to increase the speed at which you walk while in "stealth" though, because that's painfully slow.
