Grumble, grumble, grumble. One free 90 to get new players into WoD will not destroy the game. Seeing all the supposed pros rip them when they ask for help just might. You want the game to continue, we need subscribers. That means getting new players and people who have been away to come back. Asking new players to join, have no one to play with from 1-90, know nothing, and then expect them to stay is stupid. All you vanilla players who feel like its wrong because you didn't get handed anything, well guess what, you are getting handed something too! Plus you already have a network of friends, achieves, and a deeper understanding and appreciation for the game. So enjoy it while it lasts, because if Blizz can't attract new players then future content will be a lot less awesome.
Hey all the they people who got hit by the ban wave don't have to start completely fresh, just buy a lvl 90 and start botting again.
it would be interesting though if everyone in heroic warfroged seige gear actually had an intense amount of trouble on the level 91 mobs though....instantly rendering a year of grinding gear useless as they are replaced by quest greens :D MoP had this power curve in realative spades if not for the ilvl 450 lvl 85 blues...
Question, so if i make a new character and level it to 61 with 1 lvl in both professions...(say engineering and blacksmithing by far the most $$$$$ to level)....will it boost said professions to the MoP cap? if so that saves 20-30K gold and weeks or weeks of mats grinding...All for about 8-12 hours of leveling :C
On one hand, I want to be like many people on here that believe everyone should suffer the same trials of leveling. However, a couple years ago I tried to get my brother into WoW. He played for about 20 levels on my server (which is PvP) and quit after repeatedly being ganked. He then created a toon on a PvE server, but soon grew bored when he found social interaction to be low and most people only wanting to do max level content (and consequently just wanting to race through low level content when leveling their alts). I think a boost like this would be just what he needs to get into the game. He'd quickly (enough) get to max level and be able participate in raids and what not. And, knowing him as I do, he'd probably create another toon soon enough to level from the beginning and drag through the whole process. Because of that, I think Blizzard is making a smart move with the level 90 boost.
Blizzard is doing the same thing that UO did back in the day. i think it is a good idea for new and and returning players so they wont spend months getting to 90 to experience the new content. So me personally im all for it.
This system in general has many good sides and down sides that i believe blizzard reviewed through before they decided on making this system. I personally find it pretty interesting for veteran characters who rather not have to wait for their friend to level or have been planning to make another character that they have a knowledge base of already. On the other hand this system will eventually create chaos in many different aspects. For example a new player makes a character and decides to take the jump from 1 to 90, they will literally be thrown into the middle of a mysterious terrain with a bunch of abilities, empty slots(glyph, gear), almost no knowledge of what to do, and a system that he will still need to learn. When I first began with my Level 1 shaman I was very confused but as i began i began to understand the world around me to the point where i was able to grow to max level and know what all my abilities did. I Every new spell I gain I learned to use it because I needed them to survive longer. This system will also affect some systems such as LFG, take for example a new paladin decides that he wants to tank but doesn't know how too. Now the rest of the group will have to suffer for his inability and knowing how most WoW players are today it would just lead to leaving and complaining. Personally i would like to see how Blizzard will make this system work for new people.P.s. Most people don't read manuals they just like to jump into the Fray
Who cares what others do. Its nothing different than people playing CoD or Battlefield. If people want to camp in a corner then so be it, they are paying to play the way they want to play, and no im no camper, ill slit your throat. Here, its no different. If someone sucks in your raid then kick them out and make them learn how to play their class or if they are new to your guild then help them out to understand the basics, thats part of being in a guild. There is really no reason to be so upset about this, you will play how you want to play and others will do the same. As a player who has been around since pretty much the beginning, give or take a month of two after it all started it does get a repetitious doing the same things over and over with different chars. I like this idea on what they are doing, could it be tweaked a little bit regarding the profession aspects of it, probably, but hell, you can buy almost anything in AH anyways to level it up so whats the big deal with regards to that, all-in-all its a way for all (new and old players) to enjoy the game at a different level.
This conversation is ridiculous. Would you all $%^&*ing about this be ok if they called it World of Warcraft 2 and started everyone at 90? For those people 90 is the new level 1, with a max level of 10. It's new graphics, new instances, new spells and stuff, it's a whole new game, just like every other expansion. Oh and you can actually go back and see all the old stuff if you want to. If you have make the argument that it's "unfair" and think of your years of playing as a hardship then you clearly aren't having fun playing anymore.
I've been reading the comments, and tend to see the same thing being said on both sides of the argument. Personally, I think in order to buy a 90, you should be required to have 2 90's (the WoD 90 included in that.). In other words, you have your free WoD 90 and you have to level 1 toon (not a full list) to 90. My reasoning is that, while it is a lot of work, you experience the content from each expansion. Perhaps not the raids (until probably max level), but the dungeons and/or the quests. People also have the chance to see classes other than the one they're leveling now to see which one might suit their play style more. In general, I'm saying that, yes, I feel, should they introduce purchasing a 90, people should have to level 1 toon to max level. Now, what I would do, rather than making it available to purchase a 90, is change it to 85. Keep the free 90 in WoD. I'm perfectly fine with that. The reason I say change it to 85, rather than keep it 90, is because They'll have MoP to level through to pick up a class rotation, learn what gear they need, and to learn their class a little better before entering WoD. In other words, make it like a "modern" death knight.Blizzard will do what Blizzard wants to. If purchasing a 90 upgrade becomes possible, then not only I, but my guild as well, will help the new players to not only get geared, but to get acquainted with what spells to use with their spec. It does no good to hate on people because they want to skip content. As someone who has played since BC, I feel it is my responsibility to help other, newer, players. I feel that's something a lot of players seem to miss about being a "veteran" WoW player. Instead of being unhelpful, if you see a person that needs some help give them some advice. If they take your advice, then cool you've helped someone become a better player. If not, then oh well you tried.
In my opinion they should give lvl 90 characters only to the ppl that already has one.
And I think that blizzard should spend more time on one time limited events then this bunch of crap(srsly I spent tons of time on leveling my Druid up from zero and your giving it for free...like really...?)
Its just like went wrath came out and the Death Knight that started at LV 55 some cry about. The thing i hate about was the AH price went NUTS for mats so they cant jump the Prof up fast giving the new toons no way to get any thing for there profs from ah. So went they do the (90) lv ill be happy with the max prof so you don't have to spend a few hrs on get mats. myself i might wait for the WoD to come out to get the free one just to get my last alt up cuz going 1-90 doing the same thing for the13th time get old fast.
... thank you.... first comment not whining about free boosts I could find
