I think it was an epic gem (I know, intense). And some days later I was told that gem was going to be obsolete :'(
Never really spent that much for a single item, as I tend to prefer farming things myself.
The new 450g Legion Gems. One guy on my server has bought them all up, and is trying to sell them for 10,500g. Same guy. All the gems.Raiders all leaving. The 750g runes, I used to sell in a stack of 20 for 350g each, are now 60g each.Everyone + their dog is leaving. However, I'm told, this not a bad thing. Because after the banks are empty and subs have ran out the prices go back up.It's crazy.
The most expensive things I can remember buying recently were the two BoE parts of the Normal Tomb of Sargeras set (the boots and belt, I think). Together they cost me 170K gold. Two days later in my next guild run, one of the items dropped, and I think the other item dropped the next week. I was understandably very annoyed. It took me a while to recoup most of the money I'd spent; you can almost guarantee that the prices will drop just before you want to offload something for the price at which you got it.
A 200k flip of a TCG mount without a doubt. Did not have much gold at the time so this is basically all my capital. Took a week of /2 spamming to sell but god damn did it feel great.
the most expensive thing regrettably for me was purchasing 200+ sumptuous furs so i could make enough hex weave, for the bag, and get the secrets of draenor currencies to buy the recipe. i was a level 110 and still very new, and i had not unlocked the imbued silk weave bag yet. the auction cost thousands of gold and i had only about 10,000 so i spent most of it on that. after getting my bags i tried to sell the fur back but only got a fraction of what i paid; didnt realize till i started getting more serious about professions i should have made more bags and sold them. #noob
I don't have track of most expensive item that I bought so I can't say for sure which it is since been buying things of AH for quite while. I have been buying mostly materials for various crafts but one of more expensive individual items probably have been game time tokens, which were then +200k a piece, so spent gold quite much in there.Afterwards I was thinking that I should have invested that gold somehow... oh well can't get everything.
Probably my most expensive purchases involve pets. I am creeping up on 900 unique pets, because I enjoy the goals of collecting them all. I rarely can spend the time to farm enough for huge purchases but I have spent around 65k on a rare pet before.
My soul. From the moment I stepped foot into the god dang Ironforge auction house. I'm pretty sure I've never left it in the last 10 years
I was saving up/grinding out gold to buy the TCG Feldrake mount when it was around 700k. The day i had enough was the day the gold cap went up to 10m and, of course, the seller immediately increased the price to 10m (eventually it settled down to 3-4m). Since i didn't actually buy that, but thought the story somewhat relevant, my most expensive purchase was probably 140k for Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger. It's sitting in my bags because i both, A) want to learn it, but also, B) flip it for 300+k. I'll eventually right-click it to learn, but it has been hard to do. Thanks for the gold-making posts, they're great!
Actually, my most expensive purchase wasn't exactly on the AH. It was the Reins of Poseidus, which was listed for 160k on the AH back in MoP. I contacted the vendor and made an offer for 140k. He accepted and I became an owner of this stupid mount... Not as much regret as it counts towards the mounts achievement, but a very silly mount indeed.
Bought a rare alchemy recipe for ~120k
The most expensive thing I have ever bought on the AH is the Fiery Hippogryph for 60k back in WoD. I don't really like the model as much anymore, but in total for boes and transmog I have probably spent 500k.
my most expensive was the Plague Protodrake from the BMAH for around 160k (Was back in Pandaria) i even left my raid for a couple of mins to bid on it :D:D
The most expensive "item" i've ever bought in the AH is the Sandstone Drake, that at that momment was going for about 30k on my server, and Gametime aswell.Mostly I use the AH to sell flasks and Herbs.
My Glorious Legplates set me back about 125K. I believe that is the most I have ever spent on the AH.
Honestly, I'm not even sure what my most expensive purchase would be. I'm sure it is at least in the 100k to 200k range but I can't even begin to picture what it might have been. For the most part things that climb that high in price are almost always sought after as trades to cut out the AH cut!
Can't really remember, might have been some transmog or a bag. Not really interested in mounts or battle pets because i want to try and collect them myself without buying them from AH.
Since I started playing in '07, I made a choice to keep my expenses to, and in, the game at the minimum. I have found that I really enjoy the time I spend questing, gathering, and working on Achievements to be more satisfying than doing the "hurry up and max level" such things as professions. So I rarely ever spend any gold I earn in-game on the AH. That being said, the most I've spent in the AH was for that "one last" pet I needed for an Achievement, Crazy Cat Lady. 5k gold to be exact. But, after years trying for it, I gave in.
The most expensive was Onyx panther mount. It was a must as I am collector of everything
