People see the past with nostalgia and generally over appreciate the good things and forget about the bad things. I really think a lot (not all, just a lot) of people don't realise just how much of a slog levelling was in vanilla (and there are lots of complaints about levelling taking too long now which I find unbelieveable). Also, rule changes, - there is no way i would want to go back to carrying bags full of ammo. Multiple specs were really bad. balancing was terrible and hopefully all those horde paladin/alliance shaman players won't mind not being able to do so.if they do Classic servers they have to do it exactly as it was.
So the "old players" are finally getting the "make wow great again" server? OF to the shelf with you, then. :)
Well if the Nostalrius guys are ever out of a job...
While I have no interest in classic servers, I'm happy the people who've wanted this for so long will finally have it.
I never played WoW back then so this sounds like a neat idea!
So. Hyped.
Back to good ol daysThough i havent play classic wow before XD
i know a lot of people who have been waiting for this!
I really don't understand the allure at all. Vanilla wasn't great.
So happy this is happening, I only hope it doesn't get chipped away by the people wanting QoL changes; the true essence of vanilla includes the annoying bits. I'm fine with exploits, server crashes etc being fixed, and with anti hacking/botting stuff, wouldn't complain if modern right-click report was added to reduce the load on the GMs, but anything that affects gameplay in any way isn't something I'd like, I want the true vanilla experience, warts and all. And I think that those who feel like me are the ones most likely to stick around longest, so my hope is that Blizzard will go with the purest possible form.
To remember crossroads and Mulgore as they used to be <3
Excited for this!
This hype will keep me pumped for months on end for sure
I believe Blizzard puts quite a lot of resource into this (instead into the new expansion), and when these classic servers open up, quite a lot people will start trying this out. After a few days, or weeks, or at least when reaching lv60, they will lose their rose-colored glasses along the way and get desillusioned about how... crude and unrefined the game actually was at that time. Yes, they were great times back then (I play since classic beta), but the game has developed a LOT in all these years and the most people calling out loudly for classic servers tend to forget that.I'm happy for those who really wanted that feature, but I personally think it's a waste of time and resource.
I hope they, aside from like...fixing game-crashing bugs...leave everything how it was. I want to be able to infect people with pandemic dots I steal from raids.
It will be interesting to see what comes out of this. Hopefully it's exactly like vanilla.
My guess is that new classic version will use a lot of completely new code as this endeavour is likely quite more complex than it looks. With that taken into account, I humbly estimate we will not see WoW: Classic live any sooner than 2019. On the other hand, I cannot wait to play classic "again"! ^^
