Well, since I mained demonhunter in Legion, already tanked there quite a bit and will likely turn into a maintank during BfA (since our guild lost a tank, I already did quite well with the other tank and finding new tanks has always been a pain in the ass) I will drop my thoughts here.I am not sure about Vengance atm. It might be because I acciedentially sold my tank-gear at the start of the prepatch, because of the tank-nerfs in general or because legion-scaling is still a bit too... off (hey there onehitting Hyria), but even running around with the Neck and the legs I feel pretty weak as a tank.I might need to get used to that tho, since the active mitigation got worse for Vengance. 20 seconds of cooldwon on demon spikes (or 14 seconds of downtime each charge). Even with a good ammount of haste that feels really harsh for the only actual active mitigation we have. It might still work out for single-target-bossfights in raids, since you can recharge while you are not the active tank, but still... It is harsh. I hope azerite traits will have somethign good here (feed the demon as a talent is fine...ish for that problem, but it is not enough and imo outshined by fracture).Concerning cooldowns: fiery brand. That is it atm. Metamorphosis is basically only a tool to look good with some bonus hp. I suspect this will get better with BfA-content since I hope there will be less heavy magic damage in that (since they had the tank-nerfs in mind while creating it... I hope). Now for the positives:The new fracture is amazing. With all the haste you will most likely build (see demonspikes) it allows for a really great resource generation. The changes to soul fragments should work out nicely too. Healing based of damage taken is always pretty nice, especially with high burst (hello again, hyria). If it were not for the nerf to soul cleave (only consuming 2 fragments) I would dare to call it op (105% attackpower + 40% of damage taken with one soul cleave...)The demonhunter seems to be the tank with the least inconveniences due to the changes of the threat-level. In general the damage of Vengance, especially in AoE is pretty nice. All in all I look forward to tanking, I am just a little concerned about the class's survivability in general (well and my skill but that is fixable). Time will tell (soon guys... VERRY soon.)
I wanted to apologize to the community for this. I will also post this inside of the article itself. Thank you.https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gd1rPDrUu-o8KPJfrde0-QP-pkyOQ2ojdPpxYalaeFI/edit?usp=sharing
For me DH tank was the one Tank that made the MOST fun of all tanks in whole legion.Even when I am mostly dps, I tanked often and I tanked with pleasure.Since the pre-patch I absolutely HATE it.That *new* fracture changed everything. The gameplay feels so clunky and slow, with trying to NOT overcap either on souls or pain. And weaving in Soul Cleaves while trying to just squeeze them in after a Soul Bomb (so that Soul Cleave does not use up any souls) just makes is so dumb... the gameplay becomes stale and boring. Not even mentioning the WEAK meta form cd, Gluttony not baseline.. Fel Devastation STILL not baseline. FieryDemise gone. Why trying to fix something that isn't broke? Typical blizzard. The one thing I can appreciate is, that souls now spawn a little farther away, so that you do not instantly consume them by taking one little step to the side.Either way .. The new fracture-fracture-immoAura-soulbomb-soulcleave-soulcleave-REPEAT gameplay is NOT fun.
As a Warrior prot main during Legion, I'm in the process of leveling every other class that can tank, except Druid I think. The only one left is Brewmaster Monk, which is a work in progress.I already had a DH, like a majority of Legion players I guess. However, I found the class quite lazy and frankly boring to play, so reading that -
