The Calling the Storm icon is a fish, possibly referring to N'Zoth's fishy appearance in Warbringers: Azshara.

Calling the Storm is cast by the Naga, and in Warbringers: Azshara we learned that N'Zoth transformed the Highborne into Naga as part of his deal with Azshara.

The name of the spell is similar to the Battle for Azeroth tie-in novel Before the Storm, covering escalating tensions between the Alliance and Horde.

As a Naga, this NPC has the following quotes. Isn't BFA a faction war though?

He's holding a farmer stable against encroaching corruption, and he sends you off for help because he can't stop channeling long enough to do stuff himself. Once the quests are done, he stops channeling, and he and his apprentice leave.

Nothing in the quests addresses any particular witch, and I don't think there's any mystery in that. I mean, it's Drustvar. The entire zone story is about witches.

I think the long channel is just a game mechanic to show a cast that's either meant to be without a concrete story end. Like, Morwin is determined to save the farmer and will channel until he gets help. The real truth is - numbers take up game data.
Every number in WoW that is crunched takes up game data and computer and server resources.
The higher the number that needs to be crunched, the more game data and resources being used. To summarize, it is my honest opinion that although the 'technical explanation" does bring up some valid points about 32 bit coding (which interestingly enough can be refuted right off the bat since Blizzard switched WoW to 64 bit ages ago and no longer even supports 32 bit tech) it is wrong.
Comment by Spectrencei'm sorry but that guy with the "technical explanation" seems to be on drugs. Even if what he is saying is based in truth, it is not based in logic. His argument leaves out one very important factor - the why factor.

Why did blizzard put these NPCs in the game at all?

To think that Blizzard would include NPCs casting a 50 day long spell, which just so happened to correspond with important patches and what not, for absolutely 0 reason other than for them just to be there is quite ludicrous. To do so would be to waste hours of their time that could have been spent doing something quite more reasonable.

To further disprove his argument, let's shed some more light.

In Warlord's of Draenor Blizzard instituted the stat squish. Every expansion since than has seen a stat squish, and most recently a item level squish as well.
Blizzard's non technical explanation for this was

"We want our players to see numbers that make sense. We don't want them wrapping their heads around billions of dps. We want to keep things simple."

Ok. Let's say that's true for a minute....they just insulted us all and called us stupid. They think we are not able to count and do basic math.

Think about that for a moment.

This may not seem like a big deal, but when 5 million people are all online counting to 5 billion (or whatever it was up to), it gets a little tenuous on the servers. Blizzard decided to initiate this stat squish so it could put other more productive things into it's game, such as better models, higher graphics etc.They could have provided a more technical explanation, but really to do so would have shed light on just how archaic their game engine is, which they were already getting heck for. So, they stuck with that statement.

POINT 2

In Warlords of Draenor Blizzard forced players to get proving grounds silver to que for heroic Dungeons. Half way through the expansion they removed this. Why? Was it because the player base couldn't finish proving grounds silver? Again, we are not stupid, maybe some of the player base is, but most of us, NOT STUPID (though i like to point out otherwise at times). So, why did they remove this feature. Simply put, it was irrelevant. It was so easy to get proving grounds silver that it wasn't even on par with the difficulty of heroic dungeons.

So, once again, Blizzard REMOVED or EDITED an in game feature which was irrelevant and taking up space that could be used for something else.
They are a company after all, which has been operating for over 25 years, so one would think they would make wise decisions like this.

FAST FORWARD TO LEGION and our current topic and to finalize ask yourselves these important questions

are the cultists still counting down (the one's from legion) I don't believe so
Were the dates for their countdown actually wrong at times (only being off by a few minute, hours or 1 day) Yes, because server maintenance lasted longer than usual and also the game is not only played in one time zone duh.

Blizzard has shown us through many hidden secrets that seem mind boggling at first glance that they take extra measures to incorporate easter eggs, teasers and hidden features into their game that test the brain power of their player base IE THEY DON'T THINK WE ARE STUPID. Same for a Torcalin Cleric.

It seems they may not be related, who knows. I choose to believe that they're hyping something :D
