I'm honestly feeling now like I did in WoD. That I should just quit. Ion doesn't give a single !@#$ about the player base. The only thing that schmuck cares about is lining his pockets and he's going to do that with time gates and terrible designs. Because apparently he thinks "If we just time gate everything, they'll keep paying monthly just to unlock everything."Elder Scrolls Online is starting to look like it's worth switching to.And I can't stand Elder Scrolls Online.
Ion is aware of the state of Shadow Priests. He left them out this expansion to work on them more? The whole community been vocal about what changes they needed over few years. There is no execuse for this response:"We know that there are shadow priests who have some concerns with the state of your current talent tree, the state of your class. But at this point those are going to have to wait for a major content update. That's just a question of us drawing a line at some point, because we could continue iterating forever. And it's not the same as saying those specs are unfinished, or we're shipping without them complete. Because the reality is they're never complete. That's the nature of World of Warcraft."
And again...the try to change it...dont getting, that the system itself feels not great.Swapping stuff for gold - SucksSwapping stuff only in town - SucksGetting gear with only "meh" traits - SucksI am not one of those "Oh that numbers are great"-players. I love the aspect of giving the system some synergies to how I love to play my char.I love the fact, that some enable you to create small AOEs where there was just single target dps in a certain skill. In reality tho, many of these are really weak and they sound great but they simply dont carry over that feeling of a thing that has changed. There are no cool visuals like with those legendaries, that create atmosphere. Also those "fun traits" are too few.The traits also stack really stupid. Sure you actually never see that they stack anyway...but some increase a valued, others increase duration...thats just strange. To be fair I would have expected to have far more active skills that come with the gear.Or to have alot more passives that dont give stats but that let skills behave differently. As a Hunter:-Why not a skill that let exhilaration apply a hot of X percent to you and X members of your group with low health (X being the number of stacks of that trait)-Or a turtle shell that gets reduced by X percent time but lets you attack but with decreased dmg by X percent (X being the number of stacks of that trait)-Something that generates focus by X percent chance on using disengage, or something that gives you more defensives meassures against casters.-Something that lets you hit X targets with serpent sting and raptor strike by X percent of main dmg. Instead of that stupid talent you can take.A Proc by X percent chance to re enable something that has a CD.There are lots of options that quite actually alter the way you can play with such a system, while not making it a total math disaster show. Its three skills. Three skills that could be better than just "Increase something by X sometimes" and thats it.Also it would be great to have one piece of gear, that has three traits for your spec to choose from. And that defaults to a lesser generic trait when you play in another spec. I dont want to be gifted something. I just hate to carry mutliple set around.I dont want to be a badass hardcore player...I am casual and that game (while always saying "we reduce the effectiveness of secondary gear") forces me to carry lots of sets again just to use this expansions main feature. Its not about I want to be 100% powerful with one piece of gear in all specs. Its just that I would love to switch gear for certain content without having it feel like a 10kg weight per piece dragging me down.Let those progress hardcore guys farm their 5th gear set...This system sofar is quite dead to me.
I don't know if "post-mortem"'s English meaning is the same as the Latin one, but as a Latin Language and Literature student, I must say that this title couldn't be more fitting.
The main problem is with Ion. Glorified lawyer that is just a placeholder caretaker. No innovation. No systems re design. Just rehash the same stuff for the sub. Bellular laid it all out-not one word of response from Ion or Blizzard. Good job.
stop crying ppl it isn't that bad at all
The amount of timegating in the game is very sad. I'm not a game designer but I understand you can't let everything be available all at once. You need to require your player base spend a certain amount of time in the game in order to get them to pay for that subscription. Otherwise they'd race though everything in a few days or weeks (some still do) and then you'd have nothing left. Well why not have more open ended stuff like Eve Online.Anyway that is besides the point. Dark Iron Dwarves quest after you unlocked it. That was 100% busy work. You've already grinded out the ridiculous rep grind, you go to the emissary in SW aaaaAAANNNddd suprise! More busy work and quests. I think that was a slap in the face of the players. You know they'll do it since they've come that far but it's wrong. You should just be given the allied race unlock as soon as you have the rep grind down. If you want to do something maybe have them fly to Blackrock and talk to one Dark Iron leader. THAT's IT. That Dark Iron thing was 100% BS busywork. So bad.
I wouldn't think it is "universally hated". I honestly like the system. I think with a few tweaks it could be pretty sweet. I for one as a long time gamer am starting to get really tired of all the Negative Nancies in the community. It is so easy to be negative and toxic online so the vocal minority are the ones being heard. We should try and spread more positivity throughout the community. That doesn't mean you have to agree with everything either. You can totally disagree with something or not like such and such but there is no reason to personally bash someone specifically online. Absolutely no reason for it. You can state your opinion without attacking someone. Come on guys, you are better than this.
I really don't like reading interviews with him, he drags out his answers so long without adding any useful information. I didn't know his backgroud before, but he was certainly not an engineer, which for the most part use short and concise answers. So painful to read so may words that are just filler without any information. I guess they are intented as diplomatic to keep shareholders and investors happy, but that only shows in what situation WoW, Blizzard and probably Activision in general are.And I honestly can't fathom how a system like Island Expedition could not be seen as the repeditive mess it is - the randomization is bare bones at best and its just overall boring. Maybe its just me that doesn't enjoy WoWs combat system all that much, as it is way to static and passiv for my taste, I prefer more active combat. But WoW hat so much more going, which is why I kept playing. Iquit every expansion at some point after I've seen everyting and lost interest in it due to just having played too much of it (I switch games quite fast), but I never left one that fast, only six weeks afters its release as it was so boring, bland and seemed overall like a copy of Legion with less stuff overall. And the one big new feature, the faction conflict was little more than a prologue, with "more to come", but I'm not waiting on it, especially as I don't think Blizzards track record concerning patches is that good.Too me it just shows that WoW is not far form its demise: pumping out expansions that fast to keep subscribers (and the 180days+mounts promition, which I don't think they would do if the subscriber base was all that healthy) shows that the numbers are probably declining faster than ever and I doubt the pre-launch-controvery did them any good in the long run. Maybe that should not focus on keeping it going as long as possible but instead on how they can bring it to a satisfying end.
So many entitled haters here. If you are so upset then unsub. Myself I am eagerly waiting for 8.1, and the elemental shaman improvements have me excited. And so much new story.Vocal minority is vocal minority. Blizzard generally dont post much on forums anymore due to the toxic players polluting the forums.
The entire interview should have been a bit at the beginning where Ion says 'This is what you get for not liking our Legion Legendary ideas.' After that he drops the mic, picks it up only to drop it again; and this goes on for the rest of the video.
