Personally I'm for this. Thanks guys! I'll try not to use it unless I get stuck, or want some lore - but that's how I've always used it anyway.Although will the existing wowhead client work for classic too, or will there be a separate one? (I would also recommend advertising the wowhead client more publicly for more users tbh...)
The real question is do you have people that know vanilla (original/clones) to run the classic subsite? Or will it be just dry database? There are private-server and Vanilla/BC/WoTLK copies of databases already online:RemovedAnd it's handy to see comments on removed - even thoug some are from WoTLK there is still knowledge to be found there.
thank you.
It would be so cool if they remade thottbot just for this.
Is this really worth the effort?Okay, yes, I welcome the idea that Classic content will not show up (as much) on the main page then. But you just can not bring back the Classic experience without using a MiB Neuralyzer. So I give this experiment with *paying* customers a lifespan of two to three years before the realms will feel abandoned.
Hi. My thoughts on this is that the site needs to be improved overall. The search function is rather slow and has no autocomplete, once you delete a letter you need to type it all over again for the system to recognize it.I have given feedback on this and all I got was "check your browser", but my browser is not the problem. The database is slow, hence why it takes longer to search I'm guessing (have no clue how coding works). But comparing google search system and yours, googles is so fast and has a list of different sentences/words so you can just click. Thanks.
I've been curious since Classic was announced what wowhead would do, and I figured it would be this. Really looking forward to it. Also very awesome that old comments for now removed pages (like spell ranks/talents/etc) will be restored.
We were using Thottbot in the beta I'm pretty sure (early after launch at the latest, I can't quite recall) so looking stuff up is completely part of the vanilla experience.Definitely need to make a mandatory Thottbot front end for the Classic WoW version of WoWhead.
I seem to recall thottbot did not mine blizzard IDs for items, quests, etc, but generated their own. So any matching up would have to be done on name, rather than on ID.However if I recall correctly wowhead was launched during wow 1.12, so the amount of classic comments collected 'at level' is likely to be limited. Thottbot would offer a richer source of pre-available comments from that era.
