Honestly if Alliance gets one more allied race no one asked for and is beyond boring and ugly like Mechagnomes it will probably be the end of factions in wow since even the remaining pool of players will switch sides. Its enough we have to suffer the fat humans 2.0 now.
Let's hope the sub losses are really high. In this case, we MAY get High Elves, Vrykuls or Ogres.
No! I want sethrak for the Alliance! Just make the junker gnomes extra skins!
QUEL BlessRNG DOREI
Snekbois or riot!
I think it's clear that Mecha/Junker Gnomes are on the way, but as we can see here in this thread, it will be an absolute PR disaster on the whole to do so right now. I really think they should skip to the Calia Undead faction first, so they can hype up the "Lordaeron coming back to the Alliance!" element at Blizzcon rather than try and get Alliance players fired up about a reskin of their least played race (with respect to those who play them of course), while giving the Horde something completely new in terms of culture. As we saw last Blizzcon, Teldrassil burns, our Allied Races were kinda lame, but with just a hint of taking Lordaeron back our blood flowed blue and we were pumped for this expansion. The gnomes should come late in the expansion, which gives some gravitas to Mekkatorque's condition and (hopefully) leads nicely into a Tinker class coming next expansion.
I really don't think the alliance will be getting high elves. I get that they make sense lore-wise, but if they don't make them different enough from blood elves (the most played Horde race) like they did with the void elves then the alliance just basically gets Blood elves with blue eyes.... I don't see how this wouldn't piss everybody off. Sethrakk would be cool, but be realistic, how much work would have to go into item models for helmets. the vulpera are basically a reskin of the goblins with tails so if the allys got mechagnomes it would be consistent. Vrykuls are too big and they are probably the most boring of all the enemies we have faced. Ogres make sense, but may be too big. A mok'nathal would be sweet, but I think they have the same problem as the high elves. Not enough population and too many similar races already. I am all for as many allied races Blizzard can pump out. Who doesn't want the OPTION for more races. Obviously if you don't like little fox people, don't play one. The more options the better.
I don't particularly mind High Elves becoming playable. The issue starts when we get them instead of something much cooler and more unique as a playable race, such as Vrykul. Seeing as how High Elves would just be another recolor of Blood Elves, they are one of the last things we need, though it could be cool to see them integrated later on in the expansion.
What would the lore reason be for introducing/adding mechagnomes as an allied race? We haven't really seen much of them since Wrath, nor worked with them like...ever. It's unlikely to me that we're going to be recruiting them basically out of the blue.
Wowhead is really grasping at those straws on Mechagnomes.
