Preamble and Scenarios
N'Zoth has some more prophecies! Who do you think the six seats at the high table, enemy of all, and fall of night refer to?
Ahh... you think you know power.
The storm holds strength... but there is a price to be paid.
Harness your fury... make your hatred a weapon.
Children... the depths are my domain.
Deeper, ever deeper...
Let the tides draw you into my dream...
At last... embrace the truth of shadow.
Yes... you draw closer... ever closer.
With every choice, you become more my servant.
Mere baubles decay beneath the gaze of a god.
Yes... you are indeed the ones I seek. The ones to turn the tide.
Receive now the greatest of all gifts. My dream has become your own. The circle of stars made flesh.
She will show you the way. Come... come. The hour approaches when all eyes shall be opened.
The Light has struck a bargain with the enemy of all.
Six seats at the high table. Six mouths that hunger. One will consume all others.
The veil wanes. His crown will open the way.
The fall of night reveals her true face. She will bring only ruin.
When the arrow finds its mark, the last fetter will fall away.
I alone can save you from what is to come.
It grows hungrier... bolder. Alas, your eyes are closed.
He gave himself to the deep places. He gave himself to me.
She is not the last, but the first. Drown her and you will see.
Receive my gift and see all truths before you.
That which was sunken shall rise.
All that were sleeping... shall be awakened.
At some point, the player can see the eye of N'Zoth on other people:
"Something dark is growing within you, $n.
I can sense... the tendrils of N'zoth, burrowing deeper into your mind and soul."
You see eyes everywhere?!? This is more dire than I expected. Do not trust what you are seeing. These "eyes" are surely just N'zoth within your mind, tricking you.
Is that why I can see N'zoth's eye on so many people?
The darkness within you swells. I warn you, this will be very painful.
Now, stand very still. That's it. Let me pull N'zoth's defilement from you.
Are you sure you wish to cleanse the Gift of N'zoth? You will not be able to undo this decision.
There are also some related lines, spoken by unknown characters, about N'Zoth:
The eye sees all! His greatness... his glory!
We slumber no more! We rise... as he rises!
Break open the stone. We will become one with the void!
She leads the lamb to slaughter. A worthy sacrifice.
Many Xal'atath dialogue lines were datamined during the Patch 8.1 PTR. Now in Patch 8.1.5, some of them have received voiceover.
Based on our analysis from the Patch 8.1 dialogue, it appears that Xal'atath is freed from the dagger in return for helping N'Zoth. She then takes on the form of a Void Elf.
Hear me, N'zoth! I bring you a gift!
In exchange, break the final seal, release me!
As you wish.
You have chosen wisely, mortal.
By coming to me, you have opened yourself to great opportunity.
Your name shall be known in the Black Empire.
We will speak again... soon.
You can read the full story of Xa'latath, and how this may be related to Sylvanas, in our
Sylvanas and Xal'atath in Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara
speculation post. Below are the Xal'atath lines that received voiceover so far in 8.1.5.
I hear the ocean's call. What we seek is just up this hill.
Enjoying yourself? We can always find more rabble to slaughter, if that is your desire.
It is no mere coincidence that our paths intersect, $n. You were meant to find me. I was meant to find you.
Be wary. This one has always been irritable. I doubt his mood has improved much over the last few centuries.
Such glory awaits you, my champion.
But enough musing. Make your way to the shores of Vol'dun. That is where the third prize awaits.
I am so pleased that your mind is open to all possible paths.
A powerful naga once possessed the trident. Now his underlings seek to recover it.
What delicious irony that a pirate keeps such a coveted prize... as a trophy.
A weapon forged in the depths...
A grand destiny lies before us. Surely you sense it as well as I.
This way. I doubt Toatana will give us the crown willingly.
That gluttonous fool! Take what is ours, $n.
There! The Tempest Caller sits upon his... little pet.
There you are. Preparations have been made. Shall we?
Place the relics here, in this sacred place. We will draw upon their power.
Well done, my champion. The offerings have been made... and accepted.
The naga on your shores are of no concern. Not when you stand on the threshold of true greatness.
From the moment we met, I recognized your potential. As did he.
A crown for the ruler of all worlds...
Weak-minded fool. Only the strong are worthy of true power.
Here. One path ends... another begins.
That which we seek is nearby. A relic of concentrated void energy.
There! Those novices are performing some sort of ritual on the stone.
Stop them and take what is ours.
A stone to call forth the darkness...
Unleash the Void Stone, $n. It should provide the strength I need to help you find the other two relics.
Our destination lies just ahead. There, at long last, the tide will turn.
Why Toatana! I hardly consider that fair of you to say.
Well... we will see about that!
Strength failing... I need... blood... souls...
I realize it may be... disconcerting to converse with a weapon. Be at ease. I merely wish to see you reach your full potential.
Why, just recently I helped another mortal hero defeat the Burning Legion. My selfless sacrifice left me weakened. Sadly, that priest proved... shortsighted.
You, though... I sense you are truly destined for greatness. We will accomplish remarkable things together, you and I. Magnificent things.
Yes. YES. It's been so long since I took a mortal form. This body is pleasing... don't you think?
I knew you were the right choice, $n. Your strength and courage are... compelling.
How glorious it is to be renewed! Though I haven't forgotten your callous misuse of me in Silithus. Such a waste of potential.
It pleases me that we have a chance to spend more time together. You should know that of my many companions, you were my favorite.
We will accomplish remarkable things together, you and I. Magnificent things.
We really do make a magnificent team, don't we?
Join me at the Precipice of Oblivion. There the way will be opened. There our path shall be revealed.
Keep me close. I wouldn't want to lose you.
Once again you prove deserving of my admiration. Such a worthy champion.
Do you see it?
You aren't thinking of abandoning me again, are you? That was so unkind, considering all I've done for you.
Do be careful. If anything's going to kill you, I would prefer it to be me.
Here we are. Do not be afraid. This was always meant to be.
What do you seek?
So many possibilities...
Tell me what you want.
Such magnificence awaits us.
Open your mind to the whispers.
The time comes. Soon.
Faction Leaders React to the Old Gods
Sylvanas is excited to learn about Xal'atath, possibly acquiring it to turn the tide of the faction conflict. At BlizzCon2018, we saw a picture of her holding the empty shell of the weapon.
Sylvanas also describes Xal'atath as a "torch that shall light our path forward," which echoes the Il'gynoth whisper "Five torches to light our path."
Xal'atath... a fascinating weapon. I have heard tales of its exploits.
A pity it now lies dormant. But anything that slumbers can be awakened.
This blade is more than a mere dagger. It is a torch that shall light our path forward.
Soon I will call upon you again, champion. And together, we will steer the Horde toward its destiny.
The Alliance believes that by striking down Rastakhan and decimating the Zandalari fleet, they have broken us. That the Horde will soon crumble.
Fools. The boy-king has lied to himself and his people. He hasn't the faintest inkling of what he's truly up against.
War is a living thing. It writhes, it grows, twisting and turning until its final form is revealed.
This war is about to shift yet again. And it will be this blade that guides our way to victory.
Anduin learns about Xal'atath's choice to awaken N'Zoth:
Another Old God awakened... this does not bode well. Our world suffers much as it is. The wound in Silithus, the war...
The Alliance stands on the brink of victory. Of ending this conflict and bringing peace to Azeroth.
Sylvanas sent her champions into that shrine for a reason. She must have discovered something that can shift the war back in her favor.
Whatever that might be, she must not succeed. Be ready for me to call on you again, $n. We will stop Sylvanas--once and for all.
Anduin reacts to Sylvanas:
When Sylvanas Windrunner became warchief, I knew we would not be friends... but I didn't want us to be enemies. Then came the massacre in Arathi... and the burning of Teldrassil.
It's clear she does not fight for Azeroth. She doesn't even fight for the Horde. She wages war upon life itself.
We are so close to ending this conflict and forging a lasting peace. But if Sylvanas uncovers some new weapon that allows her to keep fighting...
No. We must discover what she's after... and stop whatever madness she seeks to unleash upon us.
Talanji reacts to N'Zoth:
As a child, I listened to de elders tell tales of de Old Gods. I thought dey were little more than ghost stories meant to frighten us.
But now I see dat dey are all too real. An infection within de heart of Azeroth.
We defeated G'huun, but N'Zoth poses an even graver threat. In a world torn apart by war, I pray de loa will show us a way to stop him.
Brother Pike reacts to N'Zoth:
All my life, I've witnessed the duality of the sea. It is both a source of life... and a force of destruction.
I became a tidesage to wield the might of the depths for the good of Kul Tiras. To learn of the great darkness lurking beneath us all this time...
The Old God wants us fractured. Divided. I fear this war has given N'Zoth exactly what he wants.
Crucible of Storms
The upcoming raid, Crucible of Storms, features the lieutenants of N'Zoth and Azshara.
Called from the depths to retrieve three relics of ancient power, the Restless Cabal is bound to serve N'Zoth and attend to his will. Zaxasj speaks of promises and power while Fa'thuul crushes their opposition with brute force.
The scent of mortal filth defiles this chamber.
They are insolent... unworthy of his gift.
He has awakened, and they shall slumber in his stead.
Let their flesh become an offering of atonement.
Embrace the master's truth!
Embrace the master's truth!
Rapture in his whispers!
Kneel in the shadow of his glory!
Cower before his might!
For the master!
Your flesh is forfeit!
Your dream dies!
...as the master claims his prize.
...and the world is his to claim.
Their dreams are ended...
The fish shall feast...
Your terror... will be... unending...
He... will yet... claim you...
ENOUGH! Let it all be ended!
You will befoul this chamber no more!
Your screams will echo through his halls!
Behold the end of your pitiful defiance!
Victory will yet be ours!
Master! Grant me strength!
Quake in fear of his endless strength!
You are but rubble in the storm's wake!
You will drown in your terror!
Your pathetic existence will be washed away!
Tremble before his hunger! His darkness!
All will be consumed!
Uunat, Harbinger of the Void
When she struck her bargain with N'Zoth ten thousand years ago, Queen Azshara offered one of her most devoted followers into the Old God's service. Now Uu'nat and the crawling masses he commands herald the coming of their master, as foretold by the stars.
Pay the price for your defiance!
Bow before your true master!
The flesh was weak!
Your dream has ended!
They were tested... and found wanting.
They were not the ones you sought, master. We will find others to open the way.
Master... they are... worthy...
All... shall be... awakened...
The blood tide rises!
His eyes behold every truth... every unnumbered crime!
His devoted outnumber the sands... the stars!
His gaze falls upon every path... every dream given form!
Taste his true power!
All glory to the master!
His wrath has awakened!
Aid your faithful servant, o mighty N'Zoth!
These lowly mortals desecrate your shrine, master. Let us drown them and wash away their defiance!
N'Zoth: Patience... patience. They may yet prove worthy of my gift. I will taste their dreams... their flesh.
Let it be as you command! They will serve... or they will die!

"the light struck a deal with the enemy of all" is this referring to calia menethil?
I think so, too. And the sentence really does not say a lot. We know from the sisters-comic that the void (which N'Zoth probably still is a part of) considers death/undeath the "enemy of all". Since the Naaru raised Calia as an Undead....they did "strike a deal" with it....that does not say anything about which side Calia or the Naaru are on, however. We know they probably are not on Sylvanas's side. And since N'Zoth calls them "the light" it is also unlikely they are on his (=void) side.
My take from this is that he just wants us (the players) to not trust Calia or the Naaru to serve his own ends. I really, really like this sentece, as it is not a lie...it's true, just told in a way to make us believe into lies. This is exactly what i love the void to do.
Oh yeah let's give even more reasons for Sylvanas to act evil for no reason ... "Oh, we can awaken an old god ? Sure let's do that lolz"
Is she being evil for no reason tho? "Everyone" has been saying how in the past she has always been ruthless, cold and always had a plan to keep herself and her people alive. Perhaps that is what this is now. I have always thought that the tree burning was intentional. It seems like it was a random impulsive action but she was prepared to burn the thing. She would not have dragged the materials along that would allow her to burn the tree if she had no intention of using them. At least she would not have done so if she is indeed a tactical genius like people claim. In the novel she does order the murder of those of her people who she thought were being disloyal but that is also ruthless and has was done for a reason. The other "evil" thing that people are pointing at is the programming of the proudmore corpse to kill his family. This is also in line with the idea of her being ruthless and using any means necessary to win and secure victory and freedom for her people.
I am not endorsing her actions, I play alliance and have always thought her to be evil, but she has always had purpose to her actions and that purpose has been survival for her and by extension her people. I don't believe the ends ever justifies the means
Sylvanas always hated the living, as they're the antithesis of what she and her Forsaken are. She always wanted to kill everyone to raise them as her Forsaken ever since she wanted a plague that could not only kill the Scourge but the living as well. Not to mention she's gone as far as killing her own Horde in the process, as seen on the Siege of Lordaeron scenario
"Another Old God awakened... this does not bode well."
You know, a little bit more of a reaction would be nice.
Considering we royally punked every single Old God thrown at us so far, I'd also be worried but not *too* worried.
Ofc they have no chance againts us! They dont PAY any subs... But from the moment Bosses realise this.... it will all end! END I TELL U!
What if all these lines that seem to point to Sylvanas, actually point to Jaina. Because I still refuse to believe that they'd go full Garrosh, there has to be a curveball somewhere along the way.
What if they point to Tyrande...what with all the references to darkness, power that has been locked away for a reason, etc...as well as this previous comment:
Wonder if "fall of night reveals her true face. She will bring only ruin" is reffering to Elune. If yes, why N'zoth is caring about the ruin that is yet to be brought by her? Elune must be his enemy also(?) For me it seems that he is concerned about it and I think that it is possible. In Legion Elune cleansed Nightmare corruption from Ysera and her pillar. That is my guess at least.
If Elune is an old god, and Sylvanas somehow knows - you'd think she'd tell someone...
She's cunning, tactical, secretive, and powerful. She wouldn't show her hand like that if she were to say...
be interested in capturing the power of Elune within the confines of Xal'atath's blade or anything...
