Your math's wrong. Every mount in the game has a 50% drop chance. Because you either get it or you don't.
I wish I was bad enough to be there.. Queue up for a LFR where both tanks and/or all healers are insta-MindControlled for having no cloak, and the raid unable to fight the boss due to lack of tanks/heals. So everyone forced to leave the group, get a deserter debuff, and gotta try again in 30 min... Hilarious!
Ohhhhhhhhhh thank you thank you for the LFR and Mount changes. I have nearly 500 for the Panther, gave up on it long ago.
Changes aren't enough. Just joined a group that already had 10 stacks of the raid buff and five wipes later, no kill.Just turn off the sanity mechanic for LFR. The fight's hard enough for the facerollers to wrap their head around without having to click an extra button.
Just got my Ironhoof destroyer today, 302 attempts!
Wait, the reason why I still do not have the Ironhoof Destroyer is because it was bugged?Hurray for intransparent sever-side "randomness".And where is the fix for the Knockoff Blingtron pet?
People looking at the hotfix for the three listed mounts and requesting more 'fixes' seem to be confused about what's just a low drop rate, and a drop rate that was unintentionally lower than intended. MoP world bosses are not bugged (Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent was famously bugged at one point, but that was fixed long ago). Big Love Rocket is not bugged. Rukhmar is not bugged. Unless you can pull up some data that proves a mount's drop rate does not line up with what its generally accepted drop rate is, you'll have to accept that the drop rate, no matter how low, is what Blizzard intended it to be.
And the Iron Raiders not leaving the freaking train still is not fixed.
Been farming the Pandaria world bosses since, well, MoP, Sha dropped his just last year, Rukhmar 2 months ago and I've yet to see Galleon and Nalak drop theirs, yes, they need to increase the drop rate (I was extremely lucky to have Oondasta drop his back when the fight area was a common grave, still confused by it being a direhorn instead of an armored devilsaur)
So many people don't understand probability in here. The "every mount has a 50% drop rate" people are just trolling, so never mind. But the ones saying "No, your chances are the same each time you try" know exactly one thing about probability and think that's all there is to know. The 50% inflection rate people are talking about is actually a really important data point to better understanding what it takes to farm a mount. The people talking about it understand perfectly well that the drop rate is the same for any individual try. But there is such a thing as an aggregate probability that you're refusing to acknowledge because you know that other fact. It's the same flawed line of thinking that makes certain people unable to comprehend why switching doors is advantageous in the Monty Hall problem. If a drop rate of a mount is 1%, yes, that means your chances are 1% each time, whether it's your 1st run or your 1001st run. But it is also true and useful to know, in advance of attempting ANY runs, about how many runs you're liable to have to make before you will probably get it.For a 1% mount:~50% of players that farm it will get the mount within 69 runs.~90% will get it within 230 runs.~99% will get it within 459 runs.Obviously there is no upper bound on the number of runs it will take. Still, if you can't recognize that the above is true and useful information to know in advance of embarking on a mount farm, then you're letting a little understanding of probability blind you to a deeper comprehension.
I would love to see a slight increase on the blazing drake from DS :(
ahhh, i wanted to see half a raid get MCed... darn i knew i should have logged in this week.... XD
I like to think mount drop chances are like spinning the wheel on Wheel of Fortune. A tiny sliver of the wheel is the mount, while the rest is no mount drop. Every time you spin the wheel, you either land on the sliver for a chance to get the mount or you don't. The wheel never changes each time you spin it. The chance to get that mount will always be represented with that tiny sliver you hope to land on.
