The strength and weakness part is so outta touch with the community.... Just look at the WarcraftLog and Raider.io.Everyone can just look up what I am good or bad at, and I'm pretty sure that most people would prefer classes with the best average over those classes with exceptional good at one part but not at the other. This is a needless stubborn idealism. The idea is great, but practical application will never achieve such goal. Why? Because this is not a single-player RPG; this is MMORPG. All these differentiation should come from the individuals who are playing the character, not these needless arbituary factors.
I wish someone would define what "really strong catch-up mechanics" means.
Having dungeon buffs per covenant is a good way to ensure everyone gets a spot in m+.
Renown is your Covenant level. It gives you more stuff to do, it unlocks quests, mounts, pets, soulbinds, transmog, adventures, etc etc.
Love the dungeon interaction with the covenants.
Alot of these concerns about tHe rIgHt cOvenEnt are addressed and solved if you just join a guild. Stop pugging. You're welcome. I loved the legion dungeons that gave buffs based on professions! Wished that carried on into BfA but this is a nice addition to SL.
The dungeon interactions sound interesting. A bit of a concern for pugs of course, if it means you need one person of each covenant to execute the dungeon optimally.. Or if only the covenant of the area where the dungeon is gets a buff in that specific dungeon - which I could see them doing for lore and such. But I can also imagine they'd disable the interactions for M+ to make sure no covenant has an advantage over another.
It's kind of admitting that convenants won't be balanced, and trying to compensate that with something like this is a bad idea.If the convenant buff in a dungeon is too strong, that will incline groups to find a specific convenant player, and that's the opposite effect of what is wanted...(We wan't too bring the player and not the convenant...)If the buff is weak, groups will just search for the OP convenant of the month. And there is no way to keep this buffs balanced when players will gear up, even it will grow stronger, or weaker.Seeing that convenants will be inbalanced in this state is a good thing, but introducing new features that will reinforce this isn't the good way of fixing it.It is still time to change convenant abilities to make it cosmetic only, or abilities with a lesser impact on gameplay / performance.
