Nothing would turn me off more than being able to switch covenants at will. Musing over which covenant to pick for each of my characters is fun, I can't wait to do it for real. It would all feel meaningless if we just had everything available all the time.
We quest through every zone until max level, right? Suppose each covenant teaches you their abilities. So when you choose one at max level, you then get to assign one signature and class ability for each of your specs. I would like to keep covenants a semi-permanent choice though, it should simply not be easy to swap them.
@Hops7 emphasize in his long post most of the aspect I wanted to say, and I'm completly agree with him. I will add something more for people who seems to not understand. In my opinion covenants should be only aesthetics because it will let you choose the covenant you feel that you belong too. You will make that choose purely based on how it look, of the lore, and how that covenant represent you as a person. People have to understand the rest of us who want to change the curent situation don't want to swap the entire covenant, only the signature ability that is tied to them. Is in human nature to be competitive about something, everything else around us is based on that aspect. You keep saying that is nothing wrong being tied to one of the covenant, and that ability is nothing. You must obviously not play the same game as the rest of the world. Not saying Mythic raiders level but at least Heroic difficulty and M+7-10. You took part only,at a small proportion of what this game to offer. In that part of the game what you choose is not that relevant, because you only press random buttons anyway. You prefer all of us to be locked into something so you all feel good about being actualy bad at this game, and don't care at all. If you don't belive me, have you watched streamers, or people who are well known for their history in his game and what they think about being locked? I can't say I listened everyone opinion (again, people who have a word to say) but so far NO ONE say it is good for the game.Is nothing great being locked into something, this come from a WW monk which I was during the beggining of BFA, one of the least played class. It has great lore, great potential, but not being able to compete as good as DH or Rogues so I was forced to quit and then change the class entirely. Why? Because people ignored me, for playing that spec, long wait time, lots of rejects. Eventualy I had to change, and I was able to play the game as it fullest as dps.I want to mention that I'm not a min-maxer, not carring to have BIS for everything, but I always want to perform well according to the content that I'm doing. There will be some of you that gonna say I'm wrong, why I'm not quiting and they can't see how it would affect me that bad. I tell you want is gonna happen. I will take part of SL as soon as it launch but if the covenants are still gonna be locked like now, will make me slowly feel bad about playing and being locked. Anytime that i wanna do something else which covenant that I choosed would be useless, and see how others are doing well, will drive me away, bit by bit.
Maybe upon reaching max renown with your main covenant, you can be allowed to choose a secondary covenant to have limited access to? Like you are fully Night fae covenant but you have some access to venthyr soul binds/abilities? It's not the almighty solution but it might get some gears turning to someone to come up with a better one.
Hi. I'd like to swap between Horde and Alliance any time I want. Thanks
Personally I welcome a proper difficult RPG choice in the game! I'm not a huge fan of others saying they speak for me and throwing around assurances that the "majority" of players feel one way or another? Maybe Blizzard could put it to a poll, I hear some other games do that?I do like how the NPCs here don't just put up with number-chasing nonsense haha like "Oh well here comes the might Azerothian hero for the 14th time this week but I bet they're TOTALLY here for good this time!"
