He's located in Wildhammer Keep (the big building were you have the mail box).

Go to the entrance, take a left, follow the corridor to the end and walk down the stairs.

The Alliance Master Leatherworking Trainer, Drakk Stonehand, is in the main Wildhammer Keep in Aerie Peak of the Hinterlands, North of South Shore. He's sort of to the left inside, and down one layer of stairs. A woman that will sell you thread is right next to him.

You need to be level 35, and 215 (or whatever, the usual) skill to become an artisan by apprenticing to this Master Trainer.

He will teach you four important wildvine patterns "Turtle Scale Helm" "Turtle Scale Bracers" "Nightscape Pants" "Nightscape Boots"

To find the gryphon here, exit Wildhammer keep, take a right-hand turn, going up the first curvy path, and up, and up. The gryphon point is at the top of this curvey path, after it turns into dwarven-made cascading carved rock structures.

Sometimes people get a wrong address in here by mistake for a person.

Drakk does not ever go to Ironforge, and you will not see him there, he's an Aerie Peak type of guy.

Elemental, tribal, and dragon leather paths allow you to build different types of armor as you progress.

For Leather-users, a lot of people like the Tribal path. You need the 7 wild-leather quests for this path, but wild-leather does NOT lock you into this path.

For Mail-wearers, Dragon seems to be popular. You might need Scorpid for this one.

I don't remember all the details for all the types, but there's more information about it to be had on the web, so keep searching if you need more :)

Note, you will be warned in the mission text when you are about to specialize in one of the MAIN three paths, elemental, tribal, or dragon. Once you pick this path, you can NEVER go back, even if you drop leatherworking and re-learn it from the start. All other paths besides these main three, feel free to learn to your heart's content :)

I tried to walk this easy route, but there is no easy route! I cant find the unmarked path at the given location, I cant walk up the mountain anywhere.

Yes, Virginia there is an easy way.
go to Thoradin's Wall on the Hillsbrad side and head North past Durnholde Keep. At the hills turn left and follow the hills to a valley going into the hills to your right. The valley is currently guarded by a couple of level 40 Griffons. Go up the valley and a little ways up you'll find a path. Follow it to Aerie Peak.

To train to 375 you need to go to Outlands, and you must be level 50.
Honor hold usually has all the high level trainers.

now that im up to artisan in leatherworking, what path if any should i take to benefit myself the most and turn a nice profit? some ppl say dragonscale, others say tribal, etc. any info or suggestions would be appreciated.

More patterns are sold in various parts of the world for all the 3 specs
you just have to find them
many others are drop only

It is important to note that Drakk Stonehand in the Wildhammer Keep only sells you Artisian Lvl Leatherworking. In other words, you have to visit him when your skill lvl is high enough (mine was at 185 at the time of my visit) AND then visit the specific NPC for the Leather working specialization of your choice.

Drakk Stonehand offers a few recipies, mostly the same you will find off of most high lvl LW dealers (turtle scale, scorpid, ect).

You should be strictly 225 pts into leatherworking to get any further information from Wark Nightsky.

Try going to Feathermoon Stronghold for Leatherworking Quests. The recipes there are Wild Leather equipment with random enchantments. Its pretty worthwhile a trip.

heres a tip i have discovered.

if u buy a dragonscale recipe on the auction and memorize that recipe. your committed to that craft. you cannot do tribal or elemental leathercrafting after meming that recipe. regardless of questing.

in addition if u goto wark nightsky he offers all three crafts for you to learn at a price! if you pay the 5gold for this learning he will offer you a set of recipes. regardless of doing the quest you will be commited to that craft.

now i havent done the quest yet. and im 255 skill in dragonscale but here is what im wondering and what im about to do. if i complete the quest will i be offerd additional recipes?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each of the three separate crafts (tribal, dragonscale and elemental)?

What was important in your choosing one of these and were your initial impressions upheld?

Most important but unable to ascertain or change: Why would blizzard wait till now to limit your abilities? Why isn't there a way to do all three? Seems rather ignorant (insult intended) to limit this craft? How many people are going to be able to have three characters for each craft so that they can have all three?

Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) is much more intelligent about classes and crafts (This is where the flames begin, i.e.: "If you dont like this game, go play final fantasy XI" Dont you just love it. People love to show off their intelligence quotient. Just to try and defuse those who resort to violence when having an intellectual conversation -- I love WOW! I just think it could be better.)

In FFXI you can do ALL crafts with no restriction. Anyone can make anything, provided they take the time to develop the crafting skills. You can also do all classes (warrior, rogue, etc.) all you need to do is go to your bank/apartment in town and switch your profession. You do not loose levels, attributes, experience, or skills when you do this. FFXI saves all the stats for each profession for each character.

The FFXI system is the nicest class and craft system I have seen. I love the way Blizzard does the crafts in WOW. I just wish i could do more of them.

Thank you for the information on the higher levels of the crafts other than fishing ins FFXI. I now am disallusioned. I do not understant the purpose of limiting anything except for time invested. I do not believe in the impossible. People in the real world do the impossible every day. Impossible is just a bit more difficult than the possible. Games need to provide more choices and more impossible tasks.

Buying dragonscale on the auction and memorizing it commits you to the skill? What about turtle scale? I thought turtlescale was one of the patterns for dragonscale? Turtlescale can be purchased from the trainer in darnassus.

The arguement that by restricting the classes the items those classes make appear to be more valuable does not seem to hold water. I have been unable to get good prices for any of these items in the limited class. What it comes down to is that most people prefer only one class of items and that one becomes more valuable because of the dumb people who made the mistake of selecting one of the other two options after 225 skill.

I noticed that you can increase your reputation with the wildhammer clan. Does this give you any extra "special" paterns for leather? or does it give you anything at all? I have tons of necklaces and was going to use them for pure exp on a lower alt but wouldnt want to waste them if i could get a cool patern?

Is there anything after masterleatherworking? I am at level 300 with my leatherworking and my player level is 54. Dakk Stonehand isn't sending me anywhere to get to the next level, what do I need to do?

As of October 5, 2019 (Classic WoW), for now, this trainer DOES NOT teach you Barbaric Shoulders only Telonis located in Darnasus does.

As you go behind Durnhold Keep look for the Gryphons and go down the path between them, follow the path until you hit the big garrison building on the left with the mailbox outside. Go in and turn left, then go right, then straight through the archway in front of you, not to the right, and down the stairs. He's in front of you. You need to be level 35 and 200+ Leatherworking.

While there look at the supplier for the Nightscape Shoulders that Nioma has next to him.
