Found and Tamed this cat as my pet!!! Location was the 60,15 point, picked up the and out he came...nearly killed me but i got the best of him...Great times!!!

You'll have to run around the ruins for a bit, looting every little kitty statue you see. One will randomly spawn Ghost Saber (was lvl 20 for me). So you have an idea how long it'll take, I got it on my 8th statue.

Hunters can tame these when they are summoned. You have to click on the cat figurines to summon them. They are not always summoned though. When they are tamed they have a "transparent" look to them WITHOUT the "prowl" ability.

I would recommend being at least level 20 when doing this because it will randomly spawn as a level 19 or 20 and you cannot tame it if it spawns as level 20 and your only level 19.

The pets attack speed is 2.0 and comes with claw rank 3.

They will die naturally after being tamed, as a despawn feature of the mob. Don't worry, just revive him and he's yours!

I have a 19 Twink Hunter and had to have a 70 Rogue friend clear the Nagas from around the temple. Just click on the small cat statues. If you are lucky, then a Ghost Saber will appear and start attacking. If not, then you get a cat statue to put in your bag. It took 8 statues before I got my saber and luckily it was a 19! I just put Gift of Narruu on me before I clicked the statue and it heals me while the saber is beating on me during the taming process. A priest shield would work fine too. He comes with Claw 3 and is good to go into WSG.

I caught this cat on a 20 Twink Hunter too, the Nagas were too hard for me, so I got one of my friends to come in and clear them all out. I opened 10 that day, and my friend opened 10 and we got four cats, but each time they killed me. We tried together for around 2 hours yesterday and I spent around 6 hours on this alone (Lol, talk about determined, I was a 19 that day, I leveled up to 20 though). Okay, so today I walked out again (I'm on the Horde) and opened 2. Luckily, the second one was a winner! =D I tried to tame the Ghost Saber without the ice trap and sadly died again. I rezed and it was still there, I healed up and got it! Such a lovely pet to have, lol in The Crossroads I got so many compliments =) So in a nutshell, it's a very lengthy process, good luck to everbody else who wants one! =D

I notice a lot of people almost died taming these guys...Drop a freezing trap at your feet whenever you loot a figurine. It'll give you plenty of time to abandon the temporary pet you're using to clear out the naga and get a head start on taming your saber. I had about half health when I tamed mine despite some crits and crushes. Also make sure to switch to aspect of the monkey before you loot the figurines to avoid a blow or two.

I noticed the pet died after about 5 mins as others reported, and when I revived him he was very unhappy just like any other death. Don't forget to re-freed your pet after his initial death!

Yep - 8 statuettes to get him, took me half an hour or so to find the damn things... tamed him very easily (as a lvl 30 hunter) and off I go.
As everyone else says, he dies on you pretty early on but the revive pet works and he's yours then...

It's a good thing he likes clam meat, as you get a couple of stacks of it from killing all the mobs around the place =)

OK. It IS Tameable. Ghost Saber is spawned by picking up the random cat figurines in the area Ruins of Mathrystra. KILLING it may drop the Ghost Saber summon, the summon is what people keep confusing that you cannot tame. This cat is just the same as a Snow Leopard but as the previous posts noted it is translucent. I'm a lvl 60 NE hunter and taming unique, rare and odd pets is one of my favorite pastimes. I have Rak'Shiri, Broken Tooth and Bloodaxe Worg. However in the last patch 1.12, Blizzard fixed the color changing unique-ness I loved about Bloodaxe, so I abandoned Worg and decided to find a new pet. A few days later I ran into a hunter with this pet, I have only seen one other hunter with this cat on my entire realm and i dimissed it as me just seeing a cat in Prowl. However I noticed her cat was only lvl 19. I told her "Your pet is awesome, but what is it?" She replied "a ghost lol" and I was instantly intrigued. After her telling me her story about her saber "Casper" I decided to get one myself. I headed to the ruins and picked up 8 cat figurines and it popped. I tamed it and was instantly impressed with it. It's a 2.0 Attack speed. Slow compared to my BT or Rak'Shiri but its color alone really makes up for it. I've been grinding with it got it to about 28 in about 3hrs in Felwood. I did notice a strange thing, on my way back to Auberdine, while on my mount blasting along the path, my cat (now named Zero) suddenly dropped dead. Nothing had aggro'd or attacked. I revived pet and fed him and went on my way. He's a great pet.

I think I've figured out why the Ghost Saber will die after taming for no reason. To get the cat, you have to open the figurines, which summons the cat through the game mechanic. The hunter then tames the saber, but there's probably a spawn, wait, despawn mechanic on the mob. So, at the time where the cat would have usualy despawned, he dies. However, because he's now your pet, you can res him. Both myself and a friend got these recently just for fun, and they both died after a couple minutes of being tamed. Since then, they haven't died. I think after you get past the spawn, despawn mechanic, you own the cat like any other pet.

I got mine tonight. I was only 19 and the first one that spawned was 20 so i couldn't tame it. Then the second one that spawned, the taming failed and I died when I attempted again. Finally, on the third spawn, I tamed my new kitty with about 30 health to spare. I had to collect about 30 statues to get the three spawns.

A couple of points to note:

You do not need to be on a quest to tame this cat. There is a quest that involves collecting relics from the Ruins of Mathystra, but the cat figurine is not a relic and is interactive for anyone.

The cat randomly spawns when you open the statues. The statues drop both dull figurines and bright ones. The cat can spawn from either.

This cat remains translucent after taming but this is not an inherent prowl skill. The cat moves at normal speed and does not have a harder-hitting opening attack.

My cat also dropped dead about 5 minutes after I tamed it, but was immediately revivable. I like the earlier explanation about the spawn-despawn mechanic, as the cat is essentially a guardian of the statues and despawns automatically after a few minutes if you run away or stop the fight some other way.

Ghost Saber is tameable. Just keep your "trash" pet handy cause those mobs around the ruins are a pain. Put pet on passive right before you open a cat figurine, and if Ghost Saber spawns abandon the "trash" pet and start taming. He does retain the ghosty form after taming. Real cool!

If you have to run away and heal up he does not dissappear. I had time to bandage up and retry the tame. Got him the 2nd try.

By the way it took 24 figurines for him to spawn for me.

1. required level 20+ (sabers are 19 and 20, they are rare enough so you won't want one to spawn that you can't tame yet... lvl 19 twinks need help killing the nagas or they might level up before being able to tame one)

2. bring your regular pet, you need to fight alot of nagas

3. bring enough food (meat), water, mana pots, health pots, bandages. a defense potion doesn't hurt either (they hit hard and fast for lvl 20 mobs)

4. go to the very north part of Darkshore, Ruins of Mystara.

5. be patient, the statues are rare and hard to see (I found most of them on the outer rims of the area, and none down. needed 17 statues before a cat spawned)

6. when you find a cat figurine, clear the whole area around it (because you might need to retreat and come back quickly)

Then lay a frost trap (pet on passive), if a ghost saber spawns, let it go into the trap, quickly abandon your pet, and start taming.
This mob is hard to tame, I needed 3 attempts at lvl 60 !
If you fail an attempt and your health/mana is low, run away, recover quickly and try again
If you fail and the cat despawns and your pet is gone, you can simply tame a new cat north of the ruins. (~lvl 18)

7. enjoy your new pet ! it has a really cool transparent look, does nice damage and it move pretty fast too! I have never seen another hunter with this pet on my server o.O
mine died after a few minutes for no reason, but was instantly revivable and didn't die again.

i would like to clear up any misconceptions. the cat skin is transparent not stealthed. he will die 5 minutes (Approx) after you tame him. its fine just res and you are ok. you collect the cat figurines from around the same area wher the naga's are. they are placed on the floor in the area. just open the statue when it opens there is a chance that the cat will appear it is different for everyone. he is a great cat and i hope more of you can enjoy him as i do. thanks bye.

Well, it took me about 2 hours but I got my cat! It took 4 figurines for a ghost saber to spawn, which makes my lucky, but I had a hard time finding them. They're always sitting next to a pile of rubble.

*NOTE* After getting my first one, I found a second in the same place. I thought this was normal and just piddled around waiting to it to respawn, nope. You have to go search out the cat figurines, it's not that easy. I suggest using eagle eye so you don't have to run around totally blind...

On my 4th figurine, I got the cat, but also got a naga... *&@^#*! I died and ghost ran all the way back, expecting to be at the computer for another couple hours, but when I got to my corpse, the cat was waiting! I bandaged quickly and then had try #2 at it! Dropped a frost trap and tamed on first attempt... or second, but the first since I rezzed. Cat immediately dropped dead, but after reading posts I wasn't worried. I rezzed her and was set!

I was lvl 26 when I tamed this cat, but it's so cool and now that I've had her a while, I couldn't be happier! In less than a week, I'm level 31 and she's about to join me in a half of a bar.

Not a lot of people have this cat because it is so much work, but I'm so much happier with Luthien than I was with my first cat (a nightsaber I got at level 10) or my raptor, Smaug. I highly suggest taming this pet if you have the patience! =) I can seriously see myself keeping her for the rest of the time I play!

I hit 40 a couple days ago and this cat is still great! I'm a draenei and hated the elek mount, so I farmed Darnassus rep for about a week (I did *ALL* the grey, beginning NE quests) and got exhaulted with Darnassus by level 36. I got the spotted frostsaber mount and it looks pretty sweet! Definitely cool with the matching mount.

Level 20 at the time. Could tear through the nagas with my windserpent, but got my butt handed to me alone. Went off and tamed a nearby moonstalker sire. Got the ghostcat on my fourth pick up. dropped the moonstalker and tamed the liitle ghostie. His attack speed is only 2.00, but comes with claw 3. I love it that he's all see through. A lot of people don't know they exist, and even the ones that do don't think you can tame them, just get the glowing figurine that gives you one for ten minuets. A reletivly small cat, but looks like a rare pet. When I came back later for a quest I got another one to drop on my second figurine. Maybe I'm just lucky.

It most certainly is tameable. It took me 2 attempts, the first one it just kept attacking after i tamed it...But, on the second run it went w/o a hitch. I noticed mine did like the others and died moments after charming. But I'm happy with my new cat XD

Can somebody let me know if I am doing this right? I have been trying for 3 days to get this kat but to no avail. Does it matter if I have a pet with me? (to keep those damn nagas off my ass) Does the Ghost Sabre spawn from the statue or the figure? I open the statues, get a figure, then click on the figure and if nothing happens, I throw the figure out. If it does spawn from the figure, does the figure that it spawns from look different from the figures that do not spawn? After three..scratch that..four days, I am getting the impression that I am doing something wrong. Any help would be..well helpfull.

I love the glowing figurines. If you are doing WSG at level the 10-19 range. I suggerst you try and get some of these. I wanted to see how helpfull they were and me being a hunter basically had 2 pets. A wolf and a cat, man no on could touch me. I even got the flag twice. So, if you wanna rock WSG get on of these and summon it on the field.

The Find Treasure racial ability also makes the Cat Figurines show up, so It's much easier to find them.

one when u first tame him hes like alive then he dies and when u rez him hes like "Dead" in a beastly kinda way (duh his name is "GHOST SABER")so when u think about it makes sense he dies becomes a beast/ghost mob and there questions solved y he dies 10 min after tame and also....dont feed him all ur meet and fish cuz he dies goes frm happy to content or frm content to pissed so only feed him a little or none

Just wondering, but doesn't it just die anyway after 10 minutes or so should you run away from it? Guess it is just the normal counter on a spawned mob so that they won't stay around for ever.
Got one myself btw, love it when people make their dun morogh kitty go prowl and then put this baby next to it and let it completely dissapear :). In prowl mode it is truly invisible.

ohw and for all you dwarf hunters out there, the figurines show up on your treasure finding.

ok i went there at lv 19 with my hunter hung around for hrs killing a few lv 19 -20 naga, and never saw this cat once ,so whats the spawn time on it then does anyone have any idea, and whats this in one of the post collect glowing figurines and spawn a cat for 10 ?minuts ?i even made a target macro to find this cat but no luck!

I got my ghost kitty at lvl 19 and now she is lvl 22. The problem I have with her is she can't keep up at a normal run. I simply go off and leave here and have to use pet call to bring back.

It's always wondering for me if someone tells about trouble in taming Ghost saber. It's not easy to have it when you're 19 because it usually spawns 20 lvl. But later... Maybe I'm just experienced in this but it's very easy for me. In several days i'll make it with BE hunter. ;) Really love this pet. But maybe i'm just crazy about pets because not every NE could solo tame Dishu at 14 lvl :D having trouble with horde & mobs during Ashenvale run, horde while waiting for Dishu's spawn in Barrens & her cubs during taming.

got mine on 60 hunta 2 days ago, summoned from first figurine, and tamed a nice kitten. she went from 20 to 30 already if you train it in felwood/winterspring on green mobs. also made like 15-17g on "large bear bone"'s while training.

OK...ppl are both right and wrong on here. The cat is tamable. However, there is a figurine that allows you to summon one to fight for you ONCE for 10 mins. If you are trying to tame, you can't have this special figurine in your possession or it will kill your pet after 10 mins as if you summoned with the figurine. The figurine version isn't controllable either. Only reacts if you are attacked, etc. Doesn't truly stealth...stays sort of "twinkle" or semi-transparent.

So I was in mind for a new pet, but wanted somehting different on my lvl 18 NE Hunter. So I do a search on petopia, and come accross the Ghost Saber, I had never seen one on anybody on my server and was intrigued. But firt I see that I need to get to lvl 19 first to even have a chance, so with this done, I go off in hunt of the elusive beast, as I've read I could die or it could take hours for it to spawn.

With me is a lvl 48 Hunter for back up, and YES, I needed it. There were a huge number of naga around the site and the statues are spread all over. After activating 3 cat statues, he spaws and is glorious! I had only dismissed my current pet instead of abandoning him, and this caused the taming to not work, so my hunter friend thows a freeze trap on him, I abandon the wolf real quick, get the sabers attention and begin to tame. i was down to my last bit of mana, and it was him or me, but at the last second it works !

I love him so! He is a beauty to have! He does get lots of stares.

He did die about 10 mins later, but I revived him, fed him and all is good. For some reason, he appeard as a lvl 19, but somewhere in there he lost a lvl, and spawned with -7 trainig. But that was taken care of with alot of solo killing for him in Westfall. After about 20 kills or so he lvls to 19, and 12 training points.

Items: Between 1-20 Cat Figurines.

Pick up small cat figurines from the statues around the naga location; Ghost Saber is a random spawn from your cat figurines. Place your freeze trap, and tame him. After taming him, throw out your cat figurines else Ghost Saber will die.

Notes: I was helping a guildy tame Ghost Saber this morning. He spawned after three cat figurines. Took three attempts at taming before success. Carry plenty of meat to make this cat happy at first. After 10 minutes with figurines in inventory, Ghostsaber Died.

Actually got him twice..1st time i got him at lvl 29... Then i found Lupos and abandoned him for lupos.

Now, i realize that i made a mistake.. i whent back on my mount(Spotted Frostsaber- matches Ghost Paw) and found him in one try.. (much easier)

Im gonna get him up to lvl 40... hes soo sick looking

What are the stats of this pet ... i hope it's dmg is bigger, couse this 2.00 attack speed sure is dumb :C At the moment e got a moonstalker lvled up to 21 and I'm just interested in this one here :D Is it worth it's time to search & tame ? :/

I just tamed mine at lv19. Came with Claw (rank 3), and hit Loyalty level 6 in no time flat. I can't wait to put prowl on her, she should be mostly invisible!

On a side note, I named her Wanageeska, a Native American Sioux name meaning " white spirit."

FYI, this setup is really a PvE pet. PvP I'd change the resists, drop Bite and add Dash. But that's me.

So with a tear in my eye i said goodbye to my old pet and tried to train my ghost saber. It DIDNT work for me. Very disapointed, wasted a perfectly trained pet and ghost saber for nothing. dunno is somethings changed in the game or if theres a trick to it or what but yea very very lame.

I tamed one today and hunted with it for almost half a level. He's now at friendly stage. The problem is is that he's not earning any experience points toward leveling. I've hunted level 21 and 22 mobs ... human and animal... with no XP. Does his loyalty level need to be higher than 3? I tamed The Rake and had no problem.

how after 2 years of playing a hunter in WoW is there still an incredbley unique pet like this out there? most pets are common knowledge to hunters this long after release (1.0 pets, that worg that did shadow dmg, gamooras 900k armor that doesnt stay after taming etc...) but then i read about this on hunter forums, think its complete BS and low and behold its true? omg! too bad i just tamed broken tooth for my 3rd stable slot like 2 weeks ago, otherwise id get one of these in a heartbeat even though their atk speed is sucky

but btw, what do the statues look like? im running around, ive seen different objects scattered among the ruins that look like they could be opened or part of a quest or something...stone spheres, goblets, nelf statues...not any cat statues tho. someone post a screen!

I finally found the cat figurine. And it is exactly what it sounds like, you can't miss it, if you were like me and thought you must be missing it someplace. They are just mini tigers, that u can loot.

I got a spawn on my 5th statue loot, and beastial lore confirmed that it is tameable. however the mob did not drop the , which they have a 30% chance of doing, so I did not get to check if that guardian version is tameable. However I'm still at it, and going to find out some time soon hopefully...

Before knowing about this creature, I accidentally killed one while looking for relics for a quest. I went in last night specifically trying to tame one. First cat figurine I found--spawned one! I was literally 3 seconds away from a tame when some warrior walks up and starts hacking away. I even said "don't hit--I'm taming." I gave him a brow-beating of course. A nearby druid told him he was an idiot to support my frustration. So, spent the rest of the night opening figurines to no avail.
I woke up early this morning to find that the realm had a rolling restart...first figurine I opened and--Ghost Saber! Nobody was around so early so I was able to tame NP. I'm so stoked, I can't wait to start hunting with my new translucent kitty =)

Here's my issue. I've tamed her and I've kept her happy. I've killed AT LEAST 100 mobs all level 16-23 and Ghost Saber STILL hasn't gained a single experience point. What gives? Anybody else have this problem? If anybody can shed some light on this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it.

ok just to prove yall wrong i was out hunting the black pearl ring and happend to spawn the saber i used beast lore to look at it and it said tameable so i went all the way back to crossroads banked my pet ran bank and i now have the ghost saber as my secondary pet o yea im on ysondre if ya dont belive me send a tell to Anur

Just tamed this lovely tonight. I guess waiting until 3 AM to ensure the ruins were deserted before bringing in my level 20 orc hunter was what a few other people had planned on doing as well because I had some Night Elf competition for awhile. It was nice having two extra people helping clear out the nagas, but we were clearly making it difficult on each other when it came to finding and opening statues.

They left after about an hour of no success. I pressed on, though, determined to come away with something to show for my trouble, but it was incredibly slow-going with nagas popping up everywhere and the statues having no real static spawn points, it seemed.

After three hours I only had ten cat statues to show for my trouble (and the level I'd ground up while killing snakemen) and was starting to lose heart in this mission. Especially having read here that some people had to open upward of 40 statues to make the ghost saber appear for them.

A half hour later, I'd opened 12 statues total and was down to 83 arrows which I'd been conserving for crowd control, so my surrogate ghostpaw and I were meleeing up a storm and managing to squeak by. The occasional chest and ore veins appearing were nice...if nothing else, I could proudly return to the Barrens with the knowledge I could now mine silver...

After downing a cluster of three sorceresses around another statue, I set my freeze trap and started to open, wondering at this point whether I should hearth back to XR to restock my supplies when I finally cried uncle or if I should just find a safe plaec to log out here and resume trying with a fresh mind later.

As soon as the statue opened, there was a noise and my freeze trap activated. Figures she'd spawn on the 13th statue, eh?

I abandoned my throwaway pet as quickly as possible and started taming just as the ghost saber shook it off and started attacking me. It was very, very close. If she'd gotten in one more hit, I'd have been dead.

I fed her until she was happy, fitted her with her new name, Misha, and hearthed back to XR to turn in some quests. As a few people mentioned, she DID randomly die while I was smelting the ore I'd mined while looking for her, but only that once. A quick revive and she was good as new.

To celebrate her becoming my new friend, we took down Swiftmane together, which has become a rite of passage with all pets I tame after level 20.

I'm loving this cat :) I'm not sure that I'd go through all that again, knowing what I know now, but I don't regret having done it.

After getting 20 statues it finally spawned. Taming failed 2 times. But i succeeded with a freezing trap.
It looks awesome! I leveled it to 30 and gave it prowl... it looks almost invisible to me with prowl :D. I'm not sure if it's harder to see for other players though.

I tamed this pet last night and love it so far. I had a level 23 Raptor but had to abandon it when I saw this cat. From the sounds of it, I had it a lot easier than a lot of you guys. I got him on my first try.

Dang that must mean I have the worst luck. It took me 27 tries for it to show up. I finally go it though its all good though because I got some good stuff looking for it. Then it did die like everyone said it did. After that its a really good pet. I say it was worth it.

Got him last night at lvl 19 Draenei Hunter ! i did't use any traps or anything ! just opened 3 statues and he spawned next to me ! started taming him ! got me below half life but i was alive :)! so i dont know why lots of u died first time .... maby he crited a lot lol! He is gorgeous!

I was able to tame him at 58,24 took 8 cat figurines before I got her...it wasn't easy..took three casts of tame in order to do it..cause it kept fading, but I got her. Granted I am a lvl 45 hunter so I am gonna have to lvl her up, but I am very happy to have her..she's pretty cool to look at :)

Finally got this little guy! it took me 18 figurines as a level 20 hunter w/o my pet by my side lol, whata pain in the ass! It was def. worth it though, he's a tough little guy. 947 default armor as a level 20 with no buffs or talents.

I was browsing Petopia when I came across this really cool looking cat. As soon as I hit lvl 21, I threw the cat I had in stables (just in case), and ran to the loc and started clearing out the area until I came across the small cat figurines (purple) which spawn on the ground. My first attempt at opening it I got this>> cat figurine.. which is useless of course. 2nd attempt.. opened it and the cat suddenly appeared.. a lvl 20 too! (if you try to tame a pet the same level as you or higher.. it will fail) And I died.. lol. When I ran back it was still there, so I just threw a freeze trap in front of it and tamed it np. I've since abandoned my other cat since there is no comparison. The Ghost Saber has great armor, hp's, speed and comes with Claw 3! I also had the same incident where it just suddenly dropped dead within 1 min of having it.. but it revived ok and has been a great offensive companion ever since! I can't wait till it can be taught prowl, apparently you can't even see it! <3

My friend told me about the cat, so I decided to go exploring, even though I am lvl 60. First try opening the figurine, the cat spawned. Tamed it with no problem. It did not despawn or die like people say it does. I just tamed it and hearthed outta there (since I am horde.. Didn't want people to think I was there to cause trouble). For me, my lvl 20 Ghost Saber has:

Another note, someone had mentioned before about the cat not keeping up in regards to run speed.. It has kept up just fine with my mount + spurs, hasn't fallen behind once, so maybe they were just having lag issues.

To tame one, you go to north auberdine like shown on the map, click the statues, take the loot, and if one doesn't spawn immediatly, then time to move to the next statue. It can take several tries to get one to spawn, so don't give up!

The cat statues are very small and hard to see unless you know what you're looking for, so look hard. They look identical to a tiny little tiger.

Just tamed this beauty on my lvl20 BE. I've had it for awhile on my NE hunter but it's obviously a little easier to obtain if you're alliance, lol. The first time taming it on my NE it was a piece of cake (though she didn't tame the first time, I had to do it again, but thankfully my armor was good enough so that I didn't die). On my BE though it was pretty tough... not sure why, but I don't have the best armor. I literally had about 20hp left after the battle but I tamed her! I'm so excited. I did it at lvl21 on my NE and lvl20 on my BE. I think the hardest part on my BE was actually getting there...

I'm now lvl40 on my NE and still have him! He's amazing, high armor, looks cool, probably one of the most unique pets in the game :) I see more Alliance with it than horde, and so far on my server I'm the only horde I have seen with it as a pet. :D

im a mage and i was very bored so i decided to get me one of these figurines.
it took me a few tries to get the figurine from the saber, but when i did i was real happy.
after getting the saber (lvl 19) i had to keep him from dying.
eventually i was running around on my mount and noticed he wasnt following.
he didnt get killed by a mob, so it look like he dropped dead on his own for some reason
got pissed, try to get another one, but i never got a saber to spawn after 10 tries or so....

Just got my girl today...not to bad except the cat figures are hard to come by..On my NElf I have the winterspring cat, I had no idea these existed. So on my BElf had to run up and get her...She also died a few minutes after I got her, rezzed her and she is fine and beautiful. Still want to get Humar tho, I just dont have the patience to sit and wait

Tamed him with my NE Hunter, lvl 32. Went there yesterday and took me 9 figurines.

You can have a pet with you to help clear out the nagas. But you have to abandon it just before you start taming the Ghost Saber.

Funny thing is that I helped a Horde lvl 19 hunter to get his before I got mine. He got his on the third try. After that, he bowed and left.
I just hope he doesn't becomes a ganker in the future...

This mob was one of my main influences to create a hunter, because I wanted one of these as a pet to fight by my side (for more than 10 minutes). So I created my hunter, and was very excited when I reached level 20. I went to Darkshore to tame my new pet, only to be disappointed. This creature cannot be tamed!

By the way, in case anyone's wondering where the heck these mobs are, they randomly spawn when you open the Cat Figurines that are scattered about the Ruins of Mathystra. Sometimes they drop a Glowing Cat Figurine which summons one to fight for you for 10 minutes.

I was up there to get Lady Vesperia and i picked up two figurines but nothing happend. I thought it was an allince quest thing like the Shredder Operating Manual. Anyway nothing happend but i did get the Black Pearl ring from Lady Vesperia, attempted to sell these, and then vendored for like 40c. Now that i know i have two rare mobs to go for up there.

As of 1.12, these no longer spawn from the statues. I collected 78 figurines and no sabers spawned. Grats to everyone that tamed one before 1.12 hit, because it looks like they are gone for good again.

I just got the ghost saber today. I ran around with a disposable pet forestrider killing naga and opening cat statues. I had 14 statues in my inventory when the first ghost saber spawned. I abandoned my bird and started taming the saber. When I attempted to tame it the first time, when the spell ran out nothing happened. I was puzzled, and it killed me off.

I ran back to my corpse to see it was still spawned, and I accidently killed it *doh* Luckily, the next statue I opened spawned another one and this time it tamed. It died after a few minutes, but I was able to revive it.

Edited to add: The ghost saber does keep its transparency after taming, similar to shamans' ghost wolf form. Fun for BGs, opponents don't see her coming until the last minute :P

I got my ghost kitty at lvl 19 and now she is lvl 22. The problem I have with her is she can't keep up at a normal run. At first she could keep up with no problem. Now all of a sudden she can't. I simply go off and leave here and have to use pet call to bring back.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I tamed last night after hitting 20 & training on freeze trap, aspect of the cheetah, etc. The cat figurine were kind of tough to find. I laid a freeze trap before I opened each one. I got lucky & a Ghost Saber spawned on the 3rd figurine! I tried to abandon Takk the Leaper (I tamed him on the way) & tame. He almost killed me & the 1st attempt didn't take! I ran away till I lost agro (I'd clear an escape route in case), healed & mana'd up & tried again. This time it worked! I got worried because right after I fed him he died! I rez'd him and a naga rez'd on top of us and killed him again! A couple of more rez'd while I tried to run away and killed me! I decided to rez at the graveyard and make sure I still had my cat. Thank goodness I did! I fed him to happy & waited for the death sickness to pass till we started killing. I personally like slower, harder hitting cats & this one definitely has a major difference in looks! Personally, I'd never seen a ghostly pet before (except in prowl). 3 more lvl's & I'll add Humar to my stable as well!

FYI! I finally hit lvl 32 and flew to Alterac to tame a mountain lion for Prowl 1 to teach it to my Ghost Saber. I hadn't used him since lvl 28 so I had to get him to 30 to learn it. Oh Boy! Folks, with Prowl I can barely see it! I kid you not, it's almost completely invisible! Sweet! This kitty is becoming my favorite over Humar, lol. I finally saw another player with one in STV. This is definitely not as well known as others. I discovered it doing a cat search online. No one's ever told me about it.

These can in fact be tamed. I did it last night. Whats more, they retain their ghostly appearance once they have been tamed. Very cool. The ones that can't be tamed are the ones dropped by the glowing cat figurine that are designed to fight for you for 10 minutes. Pick up a figurine, if it drops a cat immediately on opening, you can tame that cat. If it drops a glowing figurine, then when that figurine is opened a cat will spawn that is not tameable, but that will fight for you for 10 minutes.

I just got my yesterday,after 3 of the cat figurenes,I was lvl 27,and forgot the freeze trap (Silly me) but it worked out.As a pre-caution,I had healing potions (never go ANYWHERE without one)And the tame went smoothly the first time.As I was leaving the ruins,It just up and died (Scared me half to death) But I belive it was lag,as Aerie peak has alot of it.After finding out He was rez-able,I jumped for joy.So I named Him Mythical,and I have him out now,if you wanna see him,send me a tell on Aerie Peak,and the name's Crimsonlight.

I found my first figurine at level 19 while doing the Mathystra Relics quest. After looking up on here I decided to try to get one to spawn and tame it. Unfortunately the first was 20th level. So I continued to farm the cat figurines and after collecting 18 I got a second one to spawn on the 19th, but by then I was 21st level.

I set a freeze trap before collecting each figurine and then once it spawned I abandoned my bird and tamed it (failed the first time so healed and tamed immediately again). Be sure to clear out all the Naga in a circle around you before collecting the figurine.

It is a 2.00 speed cat, comes with Claw 3.

I've flown on a gryphon, dismissed and recalled it, had it die and also stabled it and it always comes back transparent, so it looks like I have a rare looking pet!

Have lots of patience and swerve your mouse around any ruins around the main sunken temple on the hill (like the BFD entrance) and down to the west and NW of it. You'll see a tooltip pop-up with "Cat Figurine" in the description.

Training mine up now. Tamed it as a 60 hunter and decided that I'd keep up on my Wintersaber Trainer Rep, just because I can get a little faction and grind at the same time. It levels fast killing the 56-59 Elder Shardtooths and Chillwind Ravagers, as well as the Winterfall Shaman and Ursas. I'm pleased.

She looks great, just need a name for her. Level 29, almost 30 after grinding a bit.

My advice, don't get discouraged by grind training. Farm some money and faction somewhere and you'll have a great cat in no time flat. If you can solo 58-59's you'll be golden.

I just got this cat! He's beautiful!

Went up there w/ no pet. Tamed a lvl 15 moonstalker to kill Nagas.

First figurine I saw, I put the moonst on no attack. I dropped a freeze trap. I clicked figurine.

BANG! Ghost saber. He hit trap. Frozen. I abandoned moonstalker and trained him.

Fed him.

He died 5 min later or so. Revived him. He's "invisible" or like a ghost. Very very cool. He is fast - not slow. Normal pet speed.

Appeared on about the 10th or so time. I laid a freezing trap before clicking the relic, and backed away immediately after looting it. He appeared and did not attack me. Then I abandoned the temp pet I picked up on the way, threw a concussive shot and immediately started taming. Between the conc and trap, he only got 2 hits in before I had tamed him.

I hit cheetah immediately and got to 44,35 on the way back to Auberdine when he just keeled over dead. LOL Very strange. Anyway, I kept going and rez'd him to level him up in STV. No problems since.

I love the translucent look! He's a few shades more visible than I am in Shadowmeld, but we'll see when he gets prowl. :)

Finally got mine after 45 minutes and ten figurines (yeah, I suck at finding them. =)) The funny thing is, he died about ten minutes after I tamed him, for no apparent reason. This seems to have happened to other people as well. Maybe it's the game not realizing he has been tamed and trying to despawn him. =/

Back when my Troll Hunter was around L20 last year, I was so excited to tame one of these buggers... I'd found out about them on my elf druid months before. And of course... Non-tameable. I was so bummed.
I went on to L60, tamed many pets, had a great time. I still have my Vampiric Duskbat back from when I was L11 and it was L9- he's now L60 and still an awesome, faithful pet.

Anyway, yesterday I was bored and fishing up Deviate Fish, when this L21 elf hunter comes up to fish beside me... and his white spotted ghost cat! I was so stunned. I quickly looked up the Ghost Saber on Alla here.. and low and behold, they are tameable!
I immediately dismissed my new tank Urisus, flew from xroads and ran giddily up to the elf Ruins. 10 Cat Figurines later, I had my new beautiful- and very low level- L19 Ghost Saber.

Now the rub is to get him to my level... So I respecc'd out of Beast Mastery (my new "Precious" isnt gonna be tanking anytime soon) to a Marks/Survival setup, and I'm farming Savage Fronds in the Un'goro Crater. Kill two birds with one stone, I wants those mail leggings from the AD rewards. :) :)

Can't wait to see how hard it is to see him while stealthed. He's gonna rock in PvP- and also his very nice 2.0 AS, for huge Prowl crits.

EDIT: My kitten never fell over and died or "despawned". I did, however, take a flight to Orgrimmar soon after training him, which made him despawn- prehaps that accounted for it. I grinded with him by my side for 3+ hours afterwards, and never a peep from him. So prehaps taking a short flight soon after taming one is a good idea.

Grabbed mine today, took somewhere between 8-10 figures for me. slightly annoying but worth the wait. I cleared the area near each figure, dropped a frost trap, and had the abandon pet menu up before clicking the figure. worked pretty well for me, level 22 horde. if you aren't high level my best advice is take your time, clear the mobs, all it takes is 1 or 2 extra and it can set you back. :)

For those hunters in Classic and/or more clarification...

Spawns from the ghost figurines on the ground around the same area BUT does not give you an item to click on. It will automatically summon ghost saber as soon as you click on the figurine (a chance too that is). I had to click on 6 different figurines before one spawn the Ghost Saber.

What I found out by accident and, with my pet still out, was I had to abandon my pet but by the time I did that all I was able to do was die. The Ghost saber was still there when I got my body to be able to tame. I was able to do this at 19 though I guess I got lucky that it spawned a level 19 (impatient) ... LOL

Ok putting an update up here for WoW Classic. The Ghost Saber is still available as a pet. Pro Tip, you have to be at least Level 20 to tame it as the mob its self spawns as a Level 20.
The most difficult part in the whole process is clearing out all the Naga in the area. Even when you think you have the 3 or 4 cleared from around the statue, make sure you do a final sweep to make sure there isn't one the may pat just close enough to aggro. And since you have to be Level 20 to tame it, you should have your Freeze Trap learned so remember to throw it down to make the tame that much easier.

This is the OG phasing pet and looks so very cool.

Just because I came here for this info after reading that it was no longer available in BFA and couldn't find confirmation either way: this gorgeous beast is still available in current content. You do not need to be on Classic to get it.

You just have to talk to Zidormi and ask "Can you show me what Darkshore was like before the battle?"

I got lucky and it took me less than five minutes--it spawned from the second cat statue I found. I thought it might've just been luck because when I tamed it years ago on my old hunter, it took quite some time. Since I have the "Animal Companion" talent, I figured why not get her a twin, and it only took about 10 minutes max and four cat statues for it to spawn again, so it doesn't appear to be quite the grind I remember it being, making this a win/win situation.

I tamed 2 of these on my Night Elf Hunter in the past couple of weeks. The first I got at level 20 on my lucky 13th statue. But I gave it a silly name, and as there’s no Certificate of Ownership in Classic, I abandoned it to get a second on the second statue at level 27 (much easier that time, but I still used the trusty frost trap).

It almost completely disappears with Prowl, even when it’s right next to me. I love it. The attack speed is sad for Classic (pets still keep their original attack speed), but mine isn’t going anywhere. It looks great with my spotted mount, and despite not being that hard to get (0 deaths in both attempts for me), I’ve never seen another one as a pet on my server.

Hi everyone,

This may be a dumb question, but are there a limited amount of cat figurines? Do they respawn?

I happened to be in this area at level 19 on my hunter, and a level 20 Ghost Saber spawned which I could not tame. When I went back at level 20, I was not able to find any cat figurines in the areas I had found them before. I was only able to find ones in areas I had not picked before. Hence the question... will these respawn or is there a limited number of them?

I am going back today to see if I can find any more, but I was wandering around there last night and could not find any figurines.

Update: and of course, the second I post this, I found one more cat figurine, and the Ghost Saber spawns. Wooohoooo! For the record, I have 13 cat figurines in my bags, and the Ghost Saber has spawned twice (I couldn't tame the first one, as mentioned earlier). I have yet to find any cat figurines in areas where I had found them previously, BTW.

Now I try it in World of Warcarft Classic. It doesnt show after 14 figuirnes, but I was in party. After I left the party on 15th shows up. I dont know is the number increased to 15 or just shouldn't be in party.

Tamed today after approx 5 figurines. Level 20 Troll hunter. Used freezing trap. Easy to tame. I have not experienced the pet dying/de-spawning and having to resurrect (suspect this is not an issue in Classic WoW). Has been at least 15 mins since I tamed it. It looks beautiful and remains see through even in combat. Teaches Claw

Got lucky twice tonight, on only five figurines! Also, I didn't know it could be a problem if you're only 19 and it spawns as a 20, got lucky there too. After collecting all of Mystra's Relics for the quest, found a cat figurine. I thought you collected a bunch and then activate them to try for the spawn. Of course the first one spawned immediately, but I still had my regular cat with me, so I couldn't tame a new pet, bummer! Had to kill that one, sadly.

Now that I knew how it worked, abandoned my current pet, then we went around and found 3 more cats. The 5th one of the night spawned again! Luckily it was 19, since I'm only 19. I also didn't know it stayed stealthy, even without a 'Prowl' skill. Crazy! Now to find the perfect name... "Ghosty"? Can't decide...

Cat with a Rank 3, Claw...yes pls! Solo'd through Lord Cobrahn in WC with this at level 22 last night. Look for kitty statues in the ruins (outside edge), got one to spawn on 4th pull. Rick click your pet pane as you are opening the container and hover over abandon. When a Ghost Saber appears quickly hit abandon and cast tame. Had 20% hp to spare so don't sweat it. Don't know if there are any other translucent pets like this for Phase 1 either...so pretty cool.

They are in the game in SOD. Just tamed mine at lv 19. The first one I spawned was 20 though, it still came with claw rank 3. I kept my owl until I found a level 19 cat. Bring a lesser health potion as you'll need to abandon your current pet for this one. I did not use a potion and by the time I got him tamed I was around 15-20% hp. Mine did not die and have to be ress'ed once I tamed him. It went right to my side.

In SoD make sure your pet is on passive. My pet 1 shotted him after 21 cat figures :s got him after 10 more!

Did this today in SoD for my hunter it took 18 attempts with the cat figurines to summon the saber. Another hunter in the area got it done in 4 so be prepared to be running around the loop for a while if your unlucky as I was :)

On my 4th figurine he spawned. Took about 15 minutes or so in the area. I had read a comment on here to look around the edges of the area for figurines and found mine pretty fast. At 25 managed to just avoid the naga.

Got it on the 19th cat statue, it's possible to keep your old pet as long as it is on passive/you get the Ghost Saber in a Freezing Trapp and don't attack it; Abandon old pet, tame Ghost Saber; be at least over lvl 20; being 25 helps that alliance don't really bug you
Took about an hour as horde including running from Ashenvale

Just posting an update for SoD; the "bug" with the pet dying after you tame it doesn't happen anymore. Tamed one just fine and it never randomly died on me.

You can use your "Treasure Finder" racial if you are a Dwarf Hunter to find the figurines super fast
