For a Hunter, Humar is just like the average cat pet, with the exception it has a 1.5 attack speed, and is the only black lion in the game so far.
To find him, you must head to the trees just north of ratchet. There is one tree that has lions around the tree in a horse shoe shaped formation. When Humar the Pridelord spawns, he completes the horse shoe to make a full circle. On a PvP server for alliance, this is the hardest pet to tame, otherwise, it is a lot of luck and a lot of waiting.

Humar is a pet that many hunters want for his looks. He does currently have a good attack speed. However, once BC is released the current talk is that all pet attack speeds will be normalized to 2.0.

If you are camping Humar and are a skinner, you may as well kill off the surrounding mobs to get the skins. I also ended with about 25 greens so far, still trying to get him.

Like the previous post has pointed out, he is a random spawn that only happens 2-3 times a day.

Just tamed on Frostwhisper. The comments people make on rival sites like this about him not spawning if you stand around waiting are lies, he will spawn even if you stand right on his spot. I camped him from 3:30pm til now around 10:15pm and got him. Concussed him following the advice I'd read and led him to the frost trap at my feet which got me to 4 seconds remaining on the tame bar when he started to eat me. I then dismissed him when I hit Revive Pet because I was shaking with nerves, then Titan Stance performed an illegal operation and I had to reload my UI and by the time I actually got to feed him, I was a nervous wreck, but I got him fed and he's now mine.

Lvel 23 Hunter. Just tamed him. Didn't have to use any frost traps or anything, though I did load up on stam buffs (Priest buff, Food buff). He got me down to about 20% health before tame popped. All in all, I would say he is not as difficult to tame as many have stated. Also, I can't confirm nor deny the spawn time, since I was there long enough to kill about 5 Matriarchs before he spawned, probably about 10 minutes.

I just tamed Humar. The directions, co-ordinates and all are completely correct. You can verify you are in the right place because there are matriarchs and cubs wandering around; I have not seen them under other trees.

I'm geared with standard gear from doing Ghostlands quests; nothing on the AH, and I managed to tame him with just Aspect of the Monkey on; I was down to about 40ish% health. I don't think you can last a taming if you are being hit by other mobs, at least at level 23. Make sure you pull the mobs in your path and clear them out first, obviously avoiding aggroing Humar.

I play on a relatively low-pop server (Ravenholdt) but he was there the first time I looked at 23, and I have seen him before as I fly over from Ratchet. Obviously, good times to check he is there are silly times for other people: before you go to work, while people are at work/school, and very late at night.

I have only seen Humar once on another hunter, I am under the impression that now pets have the same attack speed, and all cats have the same stats, many people who may have considered taming him previously simply can't be bothered. I see a whole bunch of Echykayees instead, and I think you'd have to be semi-clued into getting hunter pets if you realised you could tame Echy rather than just beat the heck out of him for the quest. I seriously don't expect you'd need to camp the Humar spawn spot for long; checking once in a while during those times for more than a couple of days would probably work.

I went many times to the barrens and never got luck enough in fiding him! Maybe someday, for now i just got an awesome scorpid terror and i looks and fight awesomely!

My alt just got him, first try too, lol my main never got him.
My alt is level 27, so I got some grinding to do, oh and if you get humar and he is a lower level then you, just grind and do your quests later.

Quest exp doesn't include pets.

OK im a Hunter currently lvl 67, i tamed him when i was 23, died a couple times, just cause it was my first time playing, didnt noe what to do. but i used trap to help. yes spawn times are hella long. as for me i was very very lucky, each first time i went to tame him, he was there, then next couple of times i went to farm for items he was there. then after that it was no show. he did have 1.5 AS b4 BC, and beast spec, he gets i believe around 1.0 or less, dont really remember. iv had him ever since, i got him mostly for looks. and 2nd best attack speed b4 BC. really rare pet. i hardly see ppl with him. i do see occasionally. but now a days. ppl getting the transparent leopard. well to all hes really good pet, can tank well. not perfect thoe. but bring alot of food. because its like all pets when u first tame. he will leave u fast if u dont feed him

I don't know what the big deal is about taming him. I camped him & camped him & got him at 8:30am when I woke up.

He's a rare elite, but those kind rarely ever hit like regular elites. In my experiences rares are just like normal mobs (I could be wrong, but it's never been hard to take a rare down).

Anyway, just to be safe, I set a freeze trap (at level 23), then I tamed him. It was that easy. He stayed trapped for most of the time and just hit me twice. Named him Hero =)

I just tamed this Beauty today. Was fighting over the Spawn with a few Alliance members. I actually felt like being nice and let them have the first spawn. Waited about 24 hours before I actually got him. Named him Cornbread.

It may seem like he will NEVER spawn but I can assure you patience is key. Hope this helps!

Got him.. lv 23 hunter.. went on vacation about 5 minutes after i caught him so didn't have time to post..

-Set up frost trap
-use concussion shot
-when he is out of trap, you should be about 1/2-3/4 done with taming him

i only lost about 1/4 my health.. no buffs or anything

I tamed this beauty yesterday, at about 6pm after the server restart. Love him or hate him xD
Btw, i was lvl 23 and just needed to frost trap him, and im pretty sure i wouldnt need the trap tho, he's not that hard to tame.

been around for 6 hours flat. no sign yet, all though im not giving up. 3 other hunters before me gave up the waiting, hopefully the one with the longest patience gets him. all though when i tamed him with my ne hunter on another server i noticed that no adds attack at all when you tame him, no real use for clearing at all in other words. happy hunting!

This cat is a nice tame for a hunter and he used to have an attack speed of 1.3, but because of the normalization the only thing special about him is his fur color. Just be wary of tracking him down because he is a very rare spawn, and it took me three days of camping his exact spot of spawn which is a tree that is just north of ratchet, a few other low leveled lions are there. But I thought it was worth the time.

grabbed him near the end of a late nite into morning session. Easy peasy, but i was pretty high level. Still need to level him up. I reccomend checking during low server times like i did, should be pretty easy.

I tamed Humar this morning at about 7:30 AM. I didn't want to sit there and wait forever, so last night I parked my hunter just on the hill by the tree. This morning I logged in to Humar laying on the ground under the tree! I layed down my freezing trap and tamed him right away.

I am to say the least a bit disappointed in the size proportion he is to a Draenei compared to how big he is to a blood elf.

Just tamed him! 8:30 in the morning. Sat my Night Elf Hunter, Skorpio, at the Inn in Ratchet and just ran up to the tree whenever I got a chance. And there he was!!

So now I have two barrens rares, my main the Scorpid Death Flayer and now Humar. I am happy.

He looks great! Now for a name....

I just tamed him today as a level 23 Huntress and there's a neat trick that I used to get him without taking any damage. In fact he didn't even make it to me.

First I had saved the "Really Sticky Glue" from the level 7 Durotar quest "A Solvent Spirit" This quest reward is on the engineering timer. The glue holds a target for 10 seconds.

After closing until just within the glue's 20 yard range (guessing on the exact range, but it's less than 30) I moved two steps closer and laid a frost trap. Once the frost trap was down I used the Glue on Humar and started taming him.
Once he broke free of the glue he ran straight into the still waiting frost trap. He was mine well before the frost trap expired.

It worked very slick. I'd definitely recommend saving that glue for difficult tames.

1. Sit at (62,34) in Barrens, against the cliff (Far enough away so that if Humar does spawn, he will not aggro you and your pet kills him FTL). Bring a pet you can abandon.

2. Put pet on defensive mode. This will protect you from wandering mobs killing you while you are AFK.

2.5 Make sure you have Chronos installed. If you have CT_RaidAssist, you have Chronos.

3. Make macro: /script f = function() TargetByName("Humar"); if UnitName("target") ~= "Humar the Pridelord" then Chronos.scheduleByName("Humar", 60, f); DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Humar not found"); else message("HUMAR POPPED WAKE UP"); end; end; f();

4. Press macro. It will attempt to target Humar once a minute. If Humar is targeted, it will pop up a window on your screen to get your attention. If not, it will add a message to your chat window saying "Humar not found."

5. Check in every X minutes.

I spent 4 hours total, over 2 days, camping Humar the Pridelord. If you are wondering where exactly he spawns, or if you have to kill the existing Lions to spawn him, read on.

Use Beast Tracking and look at your MiniMap. You should see the lions forming a horseshoe shape around the tree. The open end of the horseshoe has just the right room for one more dot on your MiniMap doesn't it?

That's exactly where Humar spawns. Nothing else will spawn there. Killing other Lions won't help but might ease the boredom for a little while. Humar will appear in the big shadow of the tree, near the base of the shadow where the trunk and the branches meet.

Like most people Humar did not appear while I was waiting. He was there after I logged back in after work. No more than 20 minutes would go by before a rival player would try to camp him with me. So be prepared to deal with competition.

p.s. He eats exactly the same amount of meat as any other pet as long as you're feeding him food appropriate for his level.

I cannot confirm, nor deny any 'set' spawn times. But 6-8am and 12 midnight are unlikely as exact. I found him at 6:10pm MST. I can confirm that he will spawn directly after a server reset. (aka patch day)

yeah i have had many threats when i was camping him, from both the horde side as well as the alliance side, i cant believe that my own side would try to kill him just because they want their friend to get him befor me, i mean ik even told them the spawn time. this one guy even went as far as the try to get me kicked out of my guild LOL i mean come on how low could you get!

I tamed him again today, 8-19-06 on The Venture Co. server, a relatively new realm, making this an extremely sought after and difficult catch.

Yes, I did say 'again' - this is the second time; I have had Lord Humar on another character as well.

A few things: I would not advise wasting time camping this guy. Twice now I have used the method of logging out a couple of alts at the site and checking in from time to time. Humar is routinely camped, but in my experience, rarely with high success. People seem to come, sit around the tree for 2 or 4 or 6 hours, see nothing, and get frustrated. Just set your hunter's hearth at Ratchet and continue with your life - Humar being 5 or 10 levels behind you when you finally make the catch is not as significant as it sounds.

Secondly, as a member of the Alliance, the above holds doubly true. The Horde guards this spawn point viciously at all times - no sense in brow beating yourself over it.

Thirdly, and most importantly, Humar is the only pet I have ever encountered that seemed to routinely bug during the tame. It happened twice before I got him - the tame would go off normally - ice trap, conc shot, intiate tame, etc, and right at the end, no Humar. He'd just keep on attacking. If this happens, run. By the time he reaches you, provided you started taming from a good distance, he should already be near his maximum attack range. As long as you didn't poke him, he will deaggro relatively quickly. In a dicey situation with a much-sought-after monster like this, you do not want to spend any time corpse running. Play it safe, and expect a fail or two.

Fourth, it is my belief that he was tamed earlier this morning at around 4:00 a.m. or so server time, give or take. I located him at 3:00 p.m. Allowing an hour of difference between the initial tame and my own, and picking a median timer of +7 hours, I have to say that Humars respawn timer is about 8 hours, though Blizzard may have set it on a variable just to keep us guessing. An 8 or 9 or 10 hour timer would make sense, however, because it would explain why Humar is sometimes only seen twice a day, and on others, three times. Regardless, he will take you some time to catch unless you are extremely lucky, which I seem to be, if I don't say so myself.

Finally, he is the best pet in the game. I was literally shaking as I logged out my watcher, logged my hunter, hearthed, and cheetah'd up there. No other pet inspires that kind of sweaty-palms adrenaline rush, and that alone makes this guy the best. He holds aggro well, is intimidating as hell, can meld along with night elves (and prowl for hordies - which can still lend an element of 'Oh noes, I am teh n00bzor huntar wit meh pet not calld out!' that can give you an edge. He's one of the fastest attack speed pets in the game, and will eat casters alive.

That, and he's a black male lion. I mean, c'mon.

I got Humar a few months back, and currently have him leveled at 46. I camped for a few hours, but then decided to just log onto my hunter every half hour to check. He finally appeared around 4pm (Ner'zhul's server clock, which is Pacific Standard Time). I set down a freeze trap, shot a scorpid sting at him (which reduces his strength and agility), followed by a concussive shot (slows/dazes him), and proceeded to tame him. By the time he unfroze, he was only able to whip out a few swats at me, overall, avoiding interruptions. At level 25, I had no trouble at all with this method, and was able to tame him on the first try. He's a 23 elite (yellow dragon around his profile), so just be wary of that. Like I mentioned, he's now a hulking 46 with prowl and dash skills, making him one sweet, deadly weapon in the battlegrounds. :D Best of luck!

Ok, heres a couple tips that im gonna share with you guys so that you can get Humar safe and easy. I can't help the camping go by any faster (wish i could) but i can tell an easy way to tame him.

1) There is a spot that you can run up the tree. Take it and run up as far as you can.

2) Make a macro that targets Humar (/Target Humar) so that if there are any other Hunters camping you can target him fast.

3) When he spawns spam the macro (might also help if your spam it everynow and then just in case) then set your freezing trap.

4) With the trap down, make sure you have Aspect of the Monkey on, cast Concussive Shot and Tame Beast, it will take him awhile to run around the tree, and then up before he gets frozen.

This should prevent him from even touching you, and make it easy to run away (considering you can jump off and he has to run all the way around) incase the Taming Process fails. Happy Hunting and may you have the Best of Luck :)

people, all the pets have been normalized. a cat is a cat, a bear is a bear and an owl is an owl. there are differences in armor/dps/health between the species but other than that, the only real difference in pets these days is the skin. white lion or black lion? just a matter of skin preference since the update.

Most posts don't tell you the server or time so I wanted to include this to help out (grin).

I was up all night waiting for him to respawn. He finally showed up around 6:30 am. He was too easy to get.

I made sure to sit right at the edge of the tree's shadow to discourage other hunters who came along for the same reason. You shouldn't agroo anything while sitting here.

I used "Freezing Trap" to keep him from smacking me around, stepped back a little and then used "Tame Beast".

WOOT!

Now the hard part.
What do I name him?

GOOD LUCK & bring some meat!

I have Humar with both my dwarf and draenei hunter. I have to say that they have very good stats and are very fast in terms of getting a lot of hits in quickly. If you want to tame a cat, go for Humar. =D

Dude I ran right INTO this mofo O_o.

I thought I'd check out "this famous black cat", so I went running over to the tree. Now I didn't expect to see him, because face it, it seems everyone is trying to tame it or kill it to be mean to the hunters trying to get it. When I got there, I was let down to see Humar laying there dead. I went up to get a closer look, cuz I've never seen him before then. The bloody thing wasn't dead, I found out as I "bumped" into him, lol. I was like "OH Crap", as I stumbled to tame him. And I did tame him... barely. I should've died. But hey, I didn't have to wait around for hours.

I just got humar last night. I had a bit of trouble taming him because I had to put my Echeyakee away to tame him. Im completely useless without my pet. Taming humar was MUCH easier than Echeyakee because you dont have to wait for someone to actually do the quest, and THEN you have to tame him before the hord quester kills him. Not sure what I what matters more for a hunter, speed or damage? so ill be switching to two around. So far Ive run into one humar and two echeyakee so I guess humar is more rare.

I logged on at about 1pm PST and made my way there and there was no sign of Humar....decided to go tame that white lion so did that, came back and no sign of Humar....logged off for a bit went to my girls house came back home about 5 hours later and went on at 11pm EST and I tamed him at 2:30am EST which is 11:30pm PST.....I used frost trap....very easy tame

Well, I started camping it at roughly 3:00pm PST. It's 7:23pm and no sign of Humar yet. I tamed The Rake already, and he is far too overrated. His damage is nothing to be excited about, and at 22, he begins to lose aggro from time to time. Oh well, back to camping. Will keep this updated.

On the HUmar spawn time: I'm pretty sure it's random. Of course, HUmar's spawn time is within sane boundaries.

HUmar is a unique cat. HUmar is black and is the only black lion. HUmar is an elite mob! It is hard to tame HUmar because of all the other people trying to tame HUmar for the reasons above HUmar.

hi all,

I am from HK and playing in TW server here is the best hint to get him. Just tell ur low guildies to grind that area and when the Swiftmane spawns there humar spawns too so when they see swiftmane make sure they call u GL HF GG. Or wait there early in the morning after 2-4 hours after server resets.

Humar has a random spawn time.

Humar spawns once a day. NOT the 8-9 hour bs you hear from others.

Humar is on top of the Plateau.

You have the most chances of finding Humar after a server reset.

I just got humar on Boulderfist. 25 Dwarf Hunter. Ive been waiting for him for a while now, looking on and off for hours. Then when i was returning from ratchet(repairs) I saw an orc hunter taming him. I said to myself NO GET THE HELL OFF MY CAT. He was level 25 also. So i aimed shot crit him and he dies. I tame the pet and run away. (He had alot of his health gone from humar)

i got Humar on Hakkar at 11:35 pm game time...i just ran over toward rachet to go to booty bay and figured...ah, what the hell, might as well see if hes there....uh, and he was. there werent even any other beasts around him! so i took one last look at my wind sepent and now i have humar (now Carbonmynox) to 30! hes definetely my favorite! w00t

ok ive had echayakee since lvl 21 im a lvl 27 NE hunter now on frostwolf and i just got humar (not insead echayak is stabled) and thne i walked over to mulgore and got the rake ok i agree the rake is fast but he would take a while to lvl up and humar looks awsome but not as cool as Echayakee and then i saw the forms and everyone was talking aobut broken tooth ok so any advice? stats at lvl 60? anything would be helpful (=

I tamed him today with my dwarf after 8 hours waiting! Absolutly nobody showed up in the area, I was just sitting there, feeling lonely... But then, I was just taking a last look before lunch, he was there. :-) Never again I will wait for a rare spawn....

I just tamed him about 6 hours ago on Lightning's Blade I was a lvl 23 dwarf hunter... I've been playing with him the past 6 hours and he %^&*ing rapes! I got real lucky I got to 23 as fast as I could went to the place he wasn't there left for 30 mins came back and he was there! Frost trap helps alot. 1 time looking and got him :)

Just got him at 2100 EST on Garona. There were these 3 hunters logging in and out to check and see, but after 5 minutes they were gone. I got lucky as one of the hunter literally just logged as he began to appear. I didn't bother with a conc shot, just frost trap and tamed. Just as I had him, the other hunter who just logged appear back, shaking his head and crying. He was a troll and I was a drawf..he said something, and couldn't understand (probably better that I didn't LOL).

Lol, so i just hit lvl 30 when i first got him, but the story is awesome. I was running to ratchet, chasting a night elf hunter. Suddenly he ran left and he saw Humar and i knew this was gonna be fun. Instantly after he started to tame him i killed the Alliance fool and ran up to Humar and tamed him. Right then the hunter respawned and i had Humar under my control. So, i tested him out on him. lol. Funny. Later i saw the hunter in ratchet waiting for the ship and the n00b attacked me. lol.

Errr, one more thing. I'm lvl 37 now and so is he...wtf, i thought he could learn prowl or dash or somethin? Am i wrong here? Cuz so far all he knows is bite and growl...pretty freakin whack.

I went to where you can find Humar and he was sleeping under a tree so i put on aspect of the monkey and tamed him on my first try. You have to feed him right away because it takes him awhile to gain loyalty. i have him at level 28 right now. he attacks like 4 or 5 times before an opponent attacks. he is the best pet

well just to let you guys know, ive heard a lot of people talking about humar so i decided to try taming him, went to barrens like 4pm cst waited tried logging in and out no sign, then i read this 1 comment that he spawn aroun 1030pm est, so i went back at 0925pm cst then just started killing all the lions and cubs under the tree around 0930pm i was on my way up the tree then i saw this black lion i was like finally, adrenaline rush came up, its around 0935pm cst, so freeze trap, concussive shot then tamed him, finally got him...

I went to the tree where the mother and cubs were and killed using multi shot on 3 of the pairs b4 he spawned, granted i'm a lvl 39 so i killed them in one shot... Used freeze trap, and started taming...

Humar is better then Echeyakee, in dps and armor even AFTER Blizzard's nerf attack. My humar is lv 24 and its better than my lv 25 Echeyakee :P

I waited from about 9:30pm to 2:15am logging on and off to check for him. To me it was worth it, i like to tame rare and elite beasts. It also helps to ask around int he Gen chat to see if anyone has killed/tamed him recently, if so, he will show up 4-8 hours later.

This guy made me pretty happy for a while.

I was running around in Darkshore, and saw a guy with Humar. Asked where he got him, and he said in the barrens. I ran around, North of Ratchet, forever, not able to find him. When he said North, I didn't know he actually meant, right above Ratchet lol.

So anyways, I got on the net and googled him. Found out where he was and read up on him some. One guy had said you needed to kill all the other lions. Pft, that didn't work. What a bunch of bull lol. So after reading some more, I found out he was on a spawn time. This was the first rare spawn pet I'd ever tamed. So I was really excited lol.

I waited and waited, but he didn't show. Being a school night, I had to get off. But at around 8am - EST, I decided I'd check before I went to school. What do you know, there he was! Anxious, I quickly tamed him without a problem. I was level 27 then, so I had no problem.

It was a hassel leveling him up, but it was worth it. He didn't stay too long though. After I got past level 30, I just stopped getting him out. I was happier with my non-special tiger lol. Oh well. The pets I have now are much better. Every once in a while I still go back to see if he's there. Took my friend there once on a random occasion. He tamed Humar, was happy. :) So all was good. Lol.

So anyways, he's a good pet for lower levels. But when you get higher, get King Bangalash. :D

Well, I was on my main and decided to take a peek (had been futzin' around in RFK) and wouldn't you know it, there he was. I put out a message in General in case someone wanted him, then decided to go ahead and jump on my hunter (lvl 28). Logged her in at SW, put out another message in SW General chat for interested hunters, then made my way to Ratchet.
Amazingly enough Humar was still there and not a soul in sight, so I went ahead and tamed him.

Approximately 2:00pm, Malygos server. So if his spawn time is really on the 8-12 hour cycle, he should show up again between 10:00pm - 2:00am.

Went looking for him after reading the site, found him sitting there with about 20 huntresses around him, tamed him no problems.

What is the next big challenge for a 25th level Tauren Hunter?

Would say those that are having trouble are on PVP servers where people feel the need to kill everything, on a roleplaying server, where the Tauren's are keeping the wasteful slaughter down and it certainly makes finding things easier.

When I was camping him with my hunter (level 23) waiting to get my shot at taming him, I noticed a strange pattern with the spawning of the lions around the tree.

When I first went there, it was fully spawned, then after I had cleared it a few times, the cats would only spawn on one side of the tree... and when I killed those, almost immediately, they would respawn on the other side.

Anyway, after going afk for a while, I came back, cleared around the tree a few more times, and waited. And waited... and waited...

For 40 minutes, not one single lion/cat spawned anywhere around the tree. Confused, I ran away from the tree and came back to see if there was an anti-camping thing implemented, where if you're sitting too near a mobs spawn point, it wont spawn. Nada with that.

Waited around a little bit longer and bam. He spawns. No other cats around for 40 minutes and then he shows up. I tame him and wait 15 more minutes before another cat respawns finally.

He popped exactly 3:05am server time tonight (just after midnight PST). Cought me so off guard he almost killed me at 28 lol. Nothing a few "scare beast" and bandaids didn't fix. Finally tamed him. I checked pretty much every evening hour over the last 2 nights and this was the only time I seen him.

Well on my server i think im one of 5 or 6 people woth Humar the Pridelord that i can see...i camped him for about 4 hours a few days ago and i finally got him! his attack speed is cool 1.30 so if im not mistaken his swings pretty damn fast.Also because he is a Black Lion with green eyes...he looks kick ass...i dont think i will be getting any other pet foe leveling with anytime soon...he can take a hit and give it too...hell im only lvl 32 and i can now kill lvl 38 gorillas in STV easy its great to have suck a kick ass pet...it was well worth the wait and the time to lvl him up.

OMG LOL AFTER 20 MINS I FOUND HIM. but people misinformed you i am on Kil'Jaedan server and he spawns at the tree with patriarchs and matriarchs coordinates are 61,33 i was at tree that is uber close to ratchet and decided to use eagle eye on other trees and boom there he was. ME SO HAPPY

I just tamed him this morning. 10/5/5.

I ran to The Barrens from Ashenvale around 8:10ish EST. After reading the posts posted here, I figured out which tree he spawns at. It actually is the only tree in the area where Matriarchs and Patriarchs spawn.

After 2 hours of killing anything that moved, I got bored and tried to kill Swiftmane, who was roaming the area. That bastard had me chase him through every agro-able creature in the area. Long story short, I died a quick death from the 5-7 other Mobs in the area.

When I got back to my body, I noticed that I had not kept up with the spawn rate around the tree. When I was clearing the lions, I noticed Humar in the shade just as it was posted. After clearing any possible adds, I put down a frost trap and it was an easy tame after that. I looked at the time, and it was 10am EST exactly when I tamed him.

Hope my long winded story helps.

I pretty much almost got an heart attack when i saw him. THe rush of adrenaline was like whoa. Haha. Anyways here's my story, I was waiting since 3 pm -5 EST for him, but decided to try to find another elite somewhere else. No luck so at 9:56 pm ish. I decided to go back and take a look, he was there!

First try, freeze trap....tame tame tame, scratch scratch ouch, taming FAILED. Died. Second try same thing again, this time he did his... agonizing pain Skill on me, it took more than half of my hunter's hp.. and I am lvl 24 too. At the final moments, I thought i would never be able to tame him this time but try again. To my surprise, I tamed him RIGHT BEFORE I died. I had basically 2-4 hp left. Couldn't even see the red bar. I was so happy, hopefully some of you guys can also tame him one day.

I have always admired Humar, but I never really had it out to tame him. But...literally seconds ago, I did.

I've read all these stories about hunters camping by that damn tree for a week - something I'd never do - and seeing nothing. I wasn't too interested in taming Humar, but I just wanted to swing by for kicks and giggles to see if he was there. Natrually, I was expecting the regular Barrens lion spawn. But low and behold, there was Humar! I had a surge of adreneline, for I had never seen him in the wild before. Being 15 levels higher than him, he was pretty easy to tame. (Although that gap won't be too convinenent in the future.) I probobally don't deserve to have him as much as all these eccentric players who spend hours looking for him, but nevertheless I am overly extatic that I have him!

My advice for those who want to tame Humar...don't camp. You'll be dissapointed. Just check back every once in a while, and he'll be there....eventually.

Above all else, Tame Humar. He is the ultimate pet. You see all the hunters running around Ironforge with their white cats from Winterspring. Compare the stats. Humar does more dps than these cats, and he's so darn good looking. I find myself traveling to the Barrens once in awile just to see if his brother is up. Even though it's just a game, I love this pet so much, I almost feel a real life bond to him. I didn't tame Humar until level 42, but after some hard work. I got him up to my level. Tame him and you won't regret it.

just got humar after a 16 hour strait camp and he owns hard. took him around barrens to try him out and without any kind of upgrads from the pet trainer he hit harder than any other pet of that lvl.

Got him at 26. I just kept logging back at the suggested times in the post till I saw him. Easy tame at my lvl with ice trap. Still have him at 48 I still go back there when I'm near just to see. It's a pvp server so if I catch an alliance there I'll be sure to give him a tough time. If you miss out don't worry just wait till you can get King Bangalash. Lil slower but just as easy on the eyes.

i tamed him on friday (4pm CEST on "die todeskrallen"), it was easy.

i went to booty bay, on the ship to rachet (killed by an orc on the ship). awake on the other side of the ship fare (killed again by the orc lvl40+).
came back to live on the cemetery (nice bug). but good shortcut.
went up to the tree, and there he was yawning.

Walked up to him, freezing trap, tame beast...he didn't tame the first time, but I stayed and tamed again...got me down to 100 hps...and then he was mine! :) Took all of 5 minutes from the time I noticed him on Petopia.com. Waited for like 2 hours and i was playing my PSP and checking on the search like every 5 minutes and like my 10th time i checked on it with track beast and finally saw him. i was so happy win i caught him i just used tame on him and got em. just got humar! So random too! Sat his spawn the day before for 9 hours. lvl 60 hunter friend helped by killing anything in site to try and get Humar to spawn,and he didn't spawn. I tamed Humar at 6:30am PST on the Antonidas server.

Not sure how often he spawns, the posts here say 9hrs and 12hrs.

I tried most of yesterday to catch him without success - partly because I was looking under the wrong tree for half the day - lol. To be clear for those who don't have coord addons like me - there are two trees with lions under them just north of Rachet. Just as you leave Rachet, heading North, there is a tree by the side of the road to your right with male lions asleep under it. This is not Humar's tree. Go west across country, past this tree, to the next tree you come to on the edge of the plane by the cliff. This one has female lions and cubs and just one or two males. If Humar has spawned he will he here. As someone said, it is the tree just to the north of the word Rachet on your minimap.

He's a lvl 23, the lions around him are 15 to 18. I found I only needed to kill one other to get him alone, but then they don't aggro me as I am lvl 32. I used a freeze trap on him and tamed him easily (well if I am honest, I messed up the first time and started attacking him so played dead till he disengaged and then did it again - good tip if you can play dead and a taming goes wrong).

Now I just need to train him up to my level quickly and get him dash off a stranglehorn tiger - and he will be an awesome pet.

This one's for keeps! Long may Humar reign!

Update - just for fun - or perhaps becuase I'm cruel - I took pet Humar back to kill wild Humar. Would have been easy except that when he had taken several hits, his whole pride (about a dozen lions) came to defend him. We only just escaped with our lives and the loot from wild Humar, thanks to some swiftness potion. Just a tip for those of you thinking of killing him - you may want to kill off the tribe first - and hope like hell no-one gets to Humar while you are doing this for them.

I have been watching and waiting for the last few days. Everytime i went there he was nowhere to be found. I finally got him early in the morning on the hydraxis server at about 8am eastern.

Keep going back if your trying to get one. To me he's really worth it.

He sits alone in the shade and there are mothers and cubs to the outer side not one single one bothered me, But make sure that you have your armor full and extra protection he killed me the first time and i was a level 24 when hes only 23.

After a seven and a half hour camp I finally tamed him at level 23 using every trick I had.

After running back to Ratchet to unload my goods, I got back in time to catch his spawn at the same time as a Tauren hunter who was intent on killing him. I made it to him first but the Tauren made for the attack. After dying due to some troubles with the Hunter, I ran back to find the Hunter had left him be. This was my second shot and the first tame failed and I died again. With a heart full of hope and a solid battle plan I made it back to find him still there and not a single player in the area.

After droping an ice trap and moving back to maximum tame distance I poped aspect of the monkey and stoneform, hit him with a scorpid sting to lower his attack and went to work. The ice trap held him for most the tame and when he finally made it to me I only lost a quarter of my life.

I already threw a point into beastial swiftness to learn it and he is much faster than my Moonstalk that I had tamed and had been using up to this point.

It was a proud moment and I'm flaunting him proudly.

Next goal is the White Lion, which might take a little finagling.

I have a level 34 Hunter and I've been looking for a pet that's good and yet does decent damage as well. I searched around these list things and finally found this guy. I ran over to Crossroads and then to the area above Ratchet. I went under the tree like you all said and he wasn't there... Then I realized there was another tree, so I quickly ran over there, nothing. I did this with another tree with the same results. After a while I just started killing the little lions and skinning them. Then my little brother comes to kick me off the computer and I just gave up and started toward Crossroads. On the way there, about 25 feet from where I had been, Humar spawned ON me.. I couldn't believe my eyes since some of these guys camped here for 9 hours while I sat there for FIFTEEN MINUTES! I quickly tamed him and ran to Crossroads. He's an amazing pet!

i have a question, why did you try and tank with a cat. the rake has 1.2 attack speed and is really good in pvp and against elite people for the begining part of the game. the rake is not a tank. he dies realitivly fast compared to others but he killes fast. that is the point. you need the rake for spirit bond and other moves like that. he cant tank worth crap. like most high attack speed cats.

Just read here about the Pridelord today. Looks very cool and so I went to Ratchet to get him. After spending half an hour farming at the wrong Place, I read about the Pat & Mat Tree.
What can I say... just went to this tree... and there he was, piecefully sleepin´in the sun : )
Tamed him with an Ice Trap after a few seconds.

Hmm... I´m a Lvl. 54 Hunter... will take a lot of time, spending in leveling up my Pridelord.

Any Ideas, what will be the easiest way therefor ?

Well not sure if this helps but it is what i tried and has worked twice in testing to get Humar in less than 2 hours each time...maybe just a fluke don't know. Anyway I just sat in the tree, there will be one Savannah Patriarch at the tree. I reasoned that he was the place holder seeing as how you can only have male pride leader in a lion family. So I started killing just him and left the matriarchs alone. Respawn time on patriarch is maybe 15-20 minutes. And voila instead of patriarch on one of the spawns Humar pops. Worked for me so hope it does for you.

I'm pretty lucky with rare spawns with my new hunter alt :)

I've went looking for The Rake twice, he was there both times. While I was there I thought I might as well look for Ghost Howl and Mazzranache, they too were there both times. Earlier today I decided I wanted a Worg as a pet, so I looked up the rare spawns around my level and found Gorefang, lvl 13 rare in Silverpine. He was there when I arrived.
Now a minute ago I was reading here about Humar and I was standing in Ratchet, so I thought "I'll go check, maybe he's there.". To my rather big surprise, there he was, standing in the shadow under the tree. Unluckily I'm only lvl 14 and can't tame him, but when I hit 23 in a few days I will come looking for him again. I hope that my luck won't have run out by then. :)

Just got him...WOOO! Spawned at 1 PM EST on the Dalaran server. Standing in the tree, using ice trap, concussive shot, scorpid sting, then tame, works like a charm. I'm lv 26 and was barely scratched by the time the taming finished.

I don't even care about him being uber...I just love that he looks different from all the other kitties. ;)

He completely pwns ass and now I don't go anywhere without him, and as a team we are unstoppable as he just learned Claw & Bite. I finally got to lvl 23 and was questing & WC'ing in Barrens. Took two days to actually find him when I was 23, had two friends cheering me on, and I went after him. I set a freeze trap and it worked perfectly. It went smooth as can be, until he didn't take the tame. I said, that's fine, I can get him next time I get up there. I then noticed a dwarf just run in and kill it. Killed it like it was nothing. He must have saw us standing there. I hate Alliance. Oh yeah, i noticed he must spawn at 600 something around central time by everyone's stories. Can anyone tell me if I'm too low lvl to tame 23 elite? I am 23 myself.

I camped up in that tree where humar spawns for 2 days. Gained a level (frm 23 to 24) while waiting for him to spawn. Tamed him in a single try with concussion and freeze trap when he did. For those who cant find him, a little more perseverence helps.

Like what others said, he can almost tank like a bear, with an attack speed of 1.3. His dps ranges from 21-28. Now we're both level 27. He loves fish and i can find em anywhere.

Great versatile pet to have! Im trying to get an Echayakee now..

I just got HUMAR and I am so pumped! Yes I know it is just a game and all...but DAMN, that's awsome for a Hunter to have! I got him @ 11:30 mst on a tuesday, no idea how long he had been there. He was sleeping in the middle of the shadow of the tree...you can't miss him...he is an awsome huge black lion. Was a bit of a challenge to tame even at 26. First attempt failed...I had to run away and eat/drink. Second time, I used concussive shot and a freeze trap and he was mine.

Anyway, It was about 11 hours after a server restart, so maybe there is some truth to that. Don't camp this guy, you will just be bored and frustrated. I camped him for about 6 hours one day then gave up. I just set my hearth to ratchet and used eagle eye to spy on the tree every time i hearthed. Eventually his big black a$$ was there for me to tame. Good luck to the rest of ya!

I finally got him! After a lot of camping and out lasting other players, I got him! He is beautiful and we will spend plenty of levels together.

Be careful of coords, I had a different set from thott, and wasted several hours in the wrong spot. Humar's tree up top a hill from the one that you first see down on the plain. So the coords will almost appear to be the same.

I was able to get him without to much trouble, but he spawned right near the spot I was standing, so had no time for a concussion shot, I did lay a freeze trap and started, and even with my health lowered a bit because of fighting the other lions, I was able to tame, he spawed as a 23 Elite.

Bring a friend to help clear the ton of lioness and cubs and the random horde player. Over all the camping was quiet in the Barrens. But to be honest, I had more difficulty from Alliance players then horde. ARGH!

And in between, helped a guildie get Echeyakee!

I wont tell how I have tamed it or my level, or how it was easy... because it is the only thing that people do here, but I have tamed both Echeyakee and Humar and these are the stats for both of them, having a beast mastery hunter:

Humar @ lvl 27:

Strength: 56
Agility: 47
Stamina: 137
Intellect: 23
Spirit: 39

Power: 122
Damage: 53-66
Armor: 1898

Echeyakee @ lvl 25:

Strength: 53
Agility: 45
Stamina: 129
Intellect: 23
Spirit: 37

Power: 116
Damage: 40-49
Armor: 1813

The stats looks to be equivalent for the 2 cats considering Echeyakee was 2 lvl lower when I took these stats. The damage done seems to be a little bigger with Humar, but it's still almost the same. I'll try to post the stats with both at the same lvl.

Also have Echeyakee, deciding what to do, so far Echeyakee is 26 and Humar is 23 with Humar at approx 13 DPS, Echeyakee at 17. will try and get Humar up to 26 before I decide which I want to keep, Echeyakee is getting rarer and Humar is getting far more. When I get Humar to 26, I'll post the comparison.

I learned about Humar the Pridelord from the WoW hunter forums and decided I had to have him. A task easier said than done. Allakhazam gave the exact location of where he spawned, but I had my doubts as to whether I was in the right spot or not. I spent three days in the area killing lions and figured the best bet would be to wait until after a shutdown and see if he spawned. I killed countless Savannah Matriarchs, Patriarchs and Cubs, but still no Humar. I logged out on a little knoll-like hill and came back a few times here and there. No matter how many times you prepare yourself, you're never quite prepared for when you see ole Humar for the first time. It was shock, surprise and YES! at the same time. He did finally spawn and was there when I logged in just this last time--an hour before the Tuesday routine shutdown. I was so happy. A couple notes: 1) Bring a hefty health potion because he hits hard; at level 27 I barely lived through the tame, 2) He spawns near the tree directly north of Ratchet. You'll know you're in the right place when you're near the cliff and all you see are Savannah Matriarchs, Patriarchs and Cubs. He roams a little area around the tree. He's black so you can't miss him. My best advice is to go back to the area often and logout there and use another character until you tame him. He's a prize for me. I named him "Humar" so I can role-play him with my character. Yes, the skin may be the only difference, but I think I'm the only one on my server so far to have him. And that's pretty darn cool to have a one-of-a-kind pet. He's a nice replacement for The Rake.

I got him yesterday(Mon) at around 4:30. Count 9 hrs up from there to figure out around when he will spawn. Hope that helps! Had to wait. Two trolls got him b4 me. Stealth helps tho when you are a n/e. None of the other lions attack and you can wait right in the shadow. I dont like hiding in the tree b/c it kinda blocks your view. Thats how I lost him the first time.

ok i just got humar a few mins ago on frost wolf server i had got echayakee at lvl 16 whne i was 21 and i was helping someone get echayakee and just decided to check and see if humar was there cuz i had been check for the past week or so and bam! there he was tamed him and then my friend got echayakee and now im going to get the rake (=

Finally got him. Even on a fairly new server he was hard to track down, the first time I spent around 8 hours staring at the tree and gave up. Now I'm level 40 and went to go get broken tooth instead, lot of people out there too, almost gave up on that till i decided to pop in before dinner and thankfully there he was so i tamed him, and happened to tame barnabas there a couple hours earlier. So this morning I woke up around 5 AM and decided since I was awake to pop into WoW just too give humar a shot again, so I sat there for 45 mins, then this annoying dwarf showed up, started jumping over me and running circles around my mount..I didnt move. I guess he got tired of being annoying cause he went and sat himself down on the other side of the tree, lucky me! Humar showed up right in front of me 5 mins later and the dwarf had no clue. So three rares in less then 24 hours total. Cant complain.

Ok, so, I've been camping Humar at the location in The Barrens for several days now... killing all the Patriarchs, Matriarchs and cubs (for lack of anything else to do and in a vain hope that it will force Humar to pop)- and thus far, nothing. Not a sausage. I am really hoping he hasn't been removed from the game, as some postings I have seen have suggested. Should he turn up, i'll be certain to follow this post with another confirming his existance.

Ok, English time, I tamed him at 7:24pm on Argent Dawn and he was sat at the very back of the tree.

Little feline.. shall we call him ..almost killed me xD had to freeze trap the poor thing.. Oh well, he's mine now and ravashing through my food supplies.

Tamed Humar the Pride Lord at 6:25 AM server time on US Medivh server. I started a Draenei Hunter, and once I hit a level 23 sat and waited for him to spawn. Started taming him, missed the first time, used scare beast, healed up, ice trap and tamed again. No problem. Good luck all. =)

he's really easy to tame actually. Log out near his respawn place and just come back every few hours. When he spawns, lay down a frost trap and start taming. I you have things like really sticky glue, that helps, and even a concussive shot before. he's a great pet and really makes casters pissed.

Short story - Humar popped on Vashj @ 9:45PM PST. exact coordinates under the shade of the tree.

I headed up to camp Humar and a lvl 43 NE hunter was there camping as well. We harassed each other for the better part of 6 hours (kill me) - he tried to run a few mob trains into me then feign death (the bastage), but what else do you expect on a pvp server? At some point we both must have taken a break and ran into each other at the inn at Ratchet - and both tore back there. Before I took my break I was pretty irritated - I was determined to be there and get him myself and if I couldn't tag him, I was going to do my best to keep NE Hunter him from getting Him. I even went so far as to name the pet I was going to abandon a derogatory name towards his mother (no offense, btw). We were there for not more than 10 minutes at most (Approx. 9:45ish pm PST) and Humar popped.

But he absolutely started taming him first and he was pretty paranoid and was camping RIGHT on the place where he spawned, so he didn't have time to set a trap or pretty much do anything other than start taming out of sheer fear I was going to start first or that I was going to be a b*tch and mess with him. But I didn't have the heart to when it came down to it. What a softee I'm turning out to be.

So I'm camping there now with my slumber sand and sticky glue and freezing trap.

I guess I must have just gotten lucky. I have been playing WoW for about a week. I found a list of pets on a website and Humar sounded cool. I went to the spot it showed on the map and he was there. Tamed first try. Glad I didn't have to camp for hours like some of you!

Just wanted to post stats for humar at lvl 51 . I have endurance training 5/5 and bestial swiftness.
Hps.2471 Sta. 212 attack. 255 power. 210
Dmg. 52-69 Defense. 255 armor. 3069

With bestial swiftness he has no prob running down people on there mounts. Have had some surpised allaince that are wonderibg how a lion is keeping up with him =).

Sorry to say, but Humar isn't that great. All his stats are lower than Rake at the same level. I compared him at level 28 to my level 28 Rake, and the only thing Humar had over her was 0.2 damage and 30 more HP. Everything else, every stat, armor, speed, all lower. He is neat looking and somewhat rare, but overall, not worth your time to camp when you could get a better pet that's easier to tame sooner with Rake.

That's right. Spent 10 hrs camping him all in the name of RP. He is a cool looking cat none the less. Makes a fine edition to the stable with the rake.

When he spawned I had a level 54 priest assistin me but man did he hate the priest. They had to fade to lose agro after I spendt a while trying to taunt shot him off the priest. He spawns at the tree with all the patriarchs and matriarchs closest to ratchet too like the others said.

I made my way to The Barrens last night as soon as I hit 23 (Dwarf Hunter on Laughing Skull). I didn't realize that you don't get a durability hit if Horde kill you (as opposed to mobs, or at least that's what it seems like from the combat log), so I went completely naked. It was my first time doing this (going to the Horde continent, and going anywhere naked), so I didn't even bring a gun (big mistake).

Naked hunter without ranged attack = call for all Horde to attack me. I died twice, then an extremely nice Night Elf Rogue (Level 51) decided to help me get to the spot. Looked around the bushes for a bit, no luck. Then moved to the tree with the patriarchs/matriarchs. He wasn't there, and I camped for about 45 minutes-1 hour, then logged (this was last night).

Got up this morning and logged on right before work (~7:45 AM EST), and there he was. Lay down a freezing trap and started taming, it was no problem, even for a naked 23. Unfortunately I had to go to work right after (which is where I am now), so haven't had a chance to test him out. But he looks badass ^_^ Good luck to all trying to get him.

Humar's spawn is random. I've seen him spawn at 10 hours, and 8 hours after the server was back up. I know this for a fact because I do alot of skinning around his tree. Killing the named charger Swiftwind did not make him spawn either. All you can do is wait until he pops, and hope that you can tame him before someone else does.

I took a young guild member into the Barrens to kill a demon and get the cloak he drops, after letting him run around killing things to lvl, me and my wife ( a NE Hunter ) went to see if Humar was there, we approached the tree and she told me he isn't there, so I walked around and on the west side of the tree he was there! In utter shock I ran through all the other lions and began taming while my wife slaughtered the other lions and there cubs.

9pm Server time. Humar is mine, Finally.

So now my Pet list is as follow...

1. Echeyakee ( lvl16 in training )
2. Stranglethorn Vale Panther lvl35 ( Main atm )
3. Humar the Pridelord ( Will be main for now )

I may drop the White lion just so I might pick up a Rotting Boar to learn Dash. Not sure. I need a tank. Any suggestions?

I am a level 36 Dwarf Hunter, I have had a great week, Hit my 1000 Gold mark, Caught Humar and got the weapon of my dreams.

I tamed him again today, 8-19-06 on The Venture Co. server, a relatively new realm, making this an extremely sought after and difficult catch.

Yes, I did say 'again' - this is the second time; I have had Lord Humar on another character as well.

A few things: I would not advise wasting time camping this guy. Twice now I have used the method of logging out a couple of alts at the site and checking in from time to time. Humar is routinely camped, but in my experience, rarely with high success. People seem to come, sit around the tree for 2 or 4 or 6 hours, see nothing, and get frustrated. Just set your hunter's hearth at Ratchet and continue with your life - Humar being 5 or 10 levels behind you when you finally make the catch is not as significant as it sounds.

Secondly, as a member of the Alliance, the above holds doubly true. The Horde guards this spawn point viciously at all times - no sense in brow beating yourself over it.

Thirdly, and most importantly, Humar is the only pet I have ever encountered that seemed to routinely bug during the tame. It happened twice before I got him - the tame would go off normally - ice trap, conc shot, intiate tame, etc, and right at the end, no Humar. He'd just keep on attacking. If this happens, run. By the time he reaches you, provided you started taming from a good distance, he should already be near his maximum attack range. As long as you didn't poke him, he will deaggro relatively quickly. In a dicey situation with a much-sought-after monster like this, you do not want to spend any time corpse running. Play it safe, and expect a fail or two.

Fourth, it is my belief that he was tamed earlier this morning at around 4:00 or so server time, give or take. I located him at 3:00. Allowing an hour of difference between the initial tame and my own, and picking a median timer of +7 hours, I have to say that Humars respawn timer is about 8 hours, though Blizzard may have set it on a variable just to keep us guessing. An 8 or 9 or 10 hour timer would make sense, however, because it would explain why Humar is sometimes only seen twice a day, and on others, three times. Regardless, he will take you some time to catch unless you are extremely lucky, which I seem to be, if I don't say so myself.

Finally, he is the best pet in the game. I was literally shaking as I logged out my watcher, logged my hunter, hearthed, and cheetah'd up there. No other pet inspires that kind of sweaty-palms adrenaline rush, and that alone makes this guy the best. He holds aggro well, is intimidating as hell, can meld along with night elves (and prowl for hordies - which can still lend an element of 'Oh noes, I am teh n00bzor huntar wit meh pet not calld out!' that can give you an edge. He's one of the fastest attack speed pets in the game, and will eat casters alive.

That, and he's a black male lion. I mean, c'mon.

I've still been trying to get this guy on my hunter, when I got to level 22 I came here looking for him and/or Dishu. I got Dishu and after a while, gave up trying to get Humar. I rerolled then came back and made my 60 Paladin. Now I decide to make my hunter a twink, now level 24 and... No Humar yet -.-

omg! i had waited about 3 hours and he showed up... right before the horde killed me and i was reserecting thinking the horde was still there but they werent. I dont know how good he is yet because i was reading this as i was taming him but he is a cool lion... i have echeyakee and the rake in the stable lol. so i guess you can call me the lion guy. but if you want to catch him dont stress about it. if you have a nightelf go invisible so horde dont see you. it was at 8:30 about at mal'ganis. im happy i have him... i have been looking forward to it since i started my hunter cuz my uncle plays this and he told me that his friend had him. so i have been capturing lions ever since. but now i have humar... well as i named him Fluffy because thats what i name all my pets... woohoo!

Wednesday - 22.04 @ Outland (24 orc)

Well, at 1th i only heard of him from an other hunt, cuz i were searching for a rare pet somewhere. And the pet i had was an elite bear from dun moroph, but he sucked sow i wanna change him :)

So, after i got the cords i starded to camp under the three. After like 2h came 2 other ppls and i asked them wut they were here for:

Grind da sannawa $%^&*! on of them said.. so i gave up for the night (23.30 GMT)

Next day the server were rebooted (as usuall) on the wednesdays, so i loged in and i waited for ever.. like 4h then came 3 ppls ~~lvls 28, 29, 29~~ and said they were here for grind him.. but then i called my irl friend whos 70 ally on that server, so he came and "protected" me from others :)

after i had went for dinner and so my irl friend called me and screamed that he had respawn, so i ran to the comp and tamed him :D:D i were so ^&*!ing happy, and all the waiting were all worth it, omg hes qute :) dont give up all, over nd out /kewk

I found Humar exactly where everyone here mentioned. I was really lucky; when I approached the area, he was snoozing under the tree with his ladies. I released some random bear I had brought along on my journey, and started to tame him. A female and her cub joined the fight, and I was toast. Tried again. Got him to fight me alone, but he still killed me. I tried again, using aspect of the monkey. I would have been dead, but the big guy missed the last two killing shots, and I got him with about 12 hit points left O_O! (I was at level 24).

I once saw Humar while playing with my Undead Priest, doing quests in The Barrens. Then I thought I can come back and tame him, looking so cool! :)
But later I learned that it has a long respawn timer. Nevertheless, I stopped by his spot once in a while passing The Barrens with my now L32 Hunter, and spotted him late at night. Tamed him nicely :) But not so long after my tame, my girlfriend called and we talked a long while. When I returned to my screen, Humar has ran away :( I parked my Hunter to his spot and logout. Checking him every 1-2 hours, I saw him again like 6-7 hours later and tamed him again :) So, not so long respawn timer, normal.
He surely looks cool!

I waited for Humar for 8 hours straight. The time was 4:40pm EST-12:45AM EST. I don't know about his spawn time. I have heard ppl camp him for days on end, maybe I was just a lucky one to get him after 8 hours lol. He is a really good pet to have. I am lvl 40 and he is also. I do know at lvl 40 his armor is over 2400. Not sure what the rest is, I'll have to write it down and post it :)

After thinking about future pets (Currently level 18) i decided to take a look at his place, just to know where it is. And guess what, there he was! It was around 2am in the morning. I just watched him, killed some random mobs there, and 1 hour later he was gone. 100% sure he didnt got killed or tamed.. Seems he only spwams for X hours of time, and then he's gone again. I'll keep my Dishu untill i can get this baby xD

I don't know why there is a map of felwood up there, Humar is NOT in Felwood.
There is a map just below that, that is the right map. Humar is just to the left as you enter ratchet. He is under the huge tree (about 2 trees in) close to those rocks. But NOT in Felwood!

In order to get Humar the Pridelord to spawn is to kill all the lions around the tree, yes, even the cubs! At first, he will not be there. You will have to kill off all the lions and cubs. When the lions respawn, he will spawn with them. Now, this was my experience, and I'm sure ppl have their stories but this worked best for me. I got him to spawn on the first try doing this. Make sure you find the tree with the cubs - because that's where he will spawn. Easy as pie. Good luck, he's a keeper.

I camped him for 6 hours on Saturday (1/20). No sign of him! I was really discouraged, esp since I was already nervous of the horde ganking me while I was there and not having a pet at my side to help me.

Anyway, I went to bed and the next morning I logged in at 5:30 server time (Maelstrom). I went to Ratchet, and the town was empty! Guess all the horde were sleeping. LOL As I approached the pride tree, there he was! I tamed him in one shot, he never called in any lions to help or anything. As soon as I got him, I fed him and hearthed back to Stormwind City. He's AWESOME! SOOOO worth the wait!

I got him Saturday morning at 7:45AM (Icecrown) server time. I had been camping him for a week, checking for him every 2-3 hours, and logging off at the rock right across from "The Pride Tree". I abandoned my Echeyakee right then and there for this guy. I still do not notice any distinguishing characteristic of his spawn time. I am trying to help my brother, and fellow BE Hunter get him as well. I have seen him twice since then, but...by the time I get him logged in, someone else has beat me to the punch. He is using a leveled up Ghostclaw Ravager. I stayed in the Barrens near the pride tree all day after I tamed him, save for a few quests I picked up from Ratchet, but...I saw him tamed all three times in one day. I got him in the morning...a dwarf Hunter got him at 3:45PM, and...he was last tamed at 11:50PM. Now...my brother stayed on to try and get him the next time he spawned, which...by the time of the last three spawns was every 8 hours, right? Wrong! He was not there again at 7:45 in the morning. IT has to rest each day, apparently...or, he might just be a random spawn at different times each day but, but...on a schedule after the first spawn. Truth be told...we will never know, it is just stupid, blind luck if you camp there and re-log and find him. Now that all pets have been nerfed though...I guess it doesn't matter between Humar and a freaking crab. I like him though, and...I do not regret wasting a week to get him.

Thx to the ppl posting the area to find Humar,made getting him a lot easier.
The hardest part was running a Nightelf hunter into the heart of Horde territory.
Got there after about an hour of travelling (mainly working out the best path through enemy areas)and LUCKY ME ! Humar was snoozing under his tree :)
If theres a certain pet you want just try and get it whether it be a rare or just a type you like the look of ! Sometimes luck will go with you

I finally tamed Humar after 3 weeks of camping his tree with my lvl 27 Hunter on Celeron Circle. I logged into my hunter about 1am last night just to check before going off to bed and there he was! I almost dropped my bow in surprise. I had about given up looking for him. I set my freeze trap and had him 2/3 tamed before he started hitting me but he still almost killed me the first time I tried. I ran away, healed and reset my trap. I got him the second time. He shows up as elite (has the fancy icon) so I'm confused by these posts that say he's a rare, not elite. His stats are:

Str = 50 Attk = 115
Agil = 42 Power = 80
Stam = 104 Dmg = 115
Intel = 28 Def = 115
Spirit = 36 A/C = 1243

His AC and strength are higher than mine are even though I am four levels higher, and he can take on mobs four levels higher than he is without help from me. I'm looking forward to kicking some major mob booty with this bad boy.

well after 11 total hours camping him i finally spoted him on a run back to that tree with the mats and pats... he was jut there... he never spwaned when i waited there so i guess hewasbeing gay... i dunno... but i ran up there and hit my /target humar macro and there he was... dropped current pet(dishu) stoneform, ice trap, tame, MINE ill put up a SS of the place and pet when i get a chance...

Humar can be found under the last tree on the ridge above Ratchet. Coming from the docks in Ratchet that would be on the right, coming from the crossroads along the road it would be on the left. Coming from the Crossroads simply dont go into the valley where Ratchet is, follow the cliff up onto the escarpment( like in the old Tarzan movies ) and continue until youd fall off - youll see Ratchet on your right in the valley below. The last tree is surrounded by lions - 2 Patriarchs and 4 or 5 matriarch/cub pairs. All can be pulled singly , matriarch/cub counts as single since the cubs are only a lv 5 nuisance. There is also a copper vein and plenty of 15-19 wanderers to level with as well as the named Zhevra - Swiftmane. Hell spawn if you kill enough of his fellow zhevra. He dropped Greenwood Gloves of Healing +15 healing spells for me. Its also a great place to practice skinning, I got 2 stacks of medium skins and a few light hides while i waited for Humar to spawn. Just letting you all know, I was camping Humar for a couple hours this morning...went afk for less than 2min adn along came another hunter and tamed him! ARG! That was at 12:25pm game time. Waited and waited...checking in every hour...waiting out the full hours watching and staring at my track... 11:25pm game time he spawned. Thats an 11hr respawn for me on the Draka server. I read a message on Thotbot saying they werent sure if he still existed cuz he hadnt been seen for awhile. Fear not! He is still there! I'm a level 60 Hunter and I decided to have Humar because he has good dps plus the attack speed which is 1.3. Does anybody know what is the best way to level him up quickly gradually. i just got Humar today after about only 2 hours of camping the tree (thank god for WoW Cartographe or I woulda been camping the wrong tree). anyways... i read someone mention "BT" in this thread as having a faster attack than humar? I was going to RFD when my friend says he is just getting to the end. So I thought "Hey I would camp humar days after days." But after I couldnt get humar I went after broken tooth. I got broken tooth and now found humar.

My collection consists of Shadowclaw, Broken Tooth, and now Humar the Pridelord. Only the rares for me :D

I thought this game was different from FF. I thought people were more relaxed, that this game was funnier. I did the mistake to think that way, and to change my old ff for a wow.

Now here's the story. I meet a nice lady hunter lv 60, that shows me her cool black lion. Im just a noob, like lv 15. Been waiting to lv up just to get one like this one.

At the second i reach 23, all happy i rush into the Barrens.

There, i camp for hours. HOURS. like maybe...9 hours, maybe more. I kill tonnes of lions. I'm bored to death, but reading the net "It is worth it".
Suddenly, a guy lv 60 warrior hume (and happily i don't remember his name), come there and tells me that Blizz moved the lion onto another tree. All naive that i am, i follow him. 5 min after that, and im not exagerating, 5 MINUTES and Humar is under the other tree. The one tree i camped for hours. He tells me that "HAHA i fooled you he is here. But i like you so hurry up blabla."
I run run and a guard attacks me and kills me. Resurect at gravyard and run like mad. Get there, tried to tame, but weakened, helpless, i die, even using potion.

Now, my character is deleted. Yes. Just for that. MMORPG are a waste of time and energy, and people are more mean than idiot. I don't say it's a generality. I'd like to thanx my guild, <Forest Officials> for being so nice with me.

For the big info this was on Dragonblight and it was 20 min ago. If you recognize yourself, you the warrior 60, i hope you can watch yourself in a mirror.

Anyway, good luck on camping that.
I'm going back to FF, that is not as !@#$ as that afterwards.

I got Humar today. I waited under the tree for three hours this afternoon, killing stuff and farming light leather (I got over 250 pieces). He didn't spawn, so I left. I came back right before I went to bed, which was 1:30 am my time and 11:30 pm server time. He was hanging out there, just sleeping in the shade.

The GM has responded to my ticket finally. There is no problem with his spawn he said that the spawn time can be as rare as 2 times a week and I was in the right exact spot. so ill keep u posted if I get lucky enough im at 16 hours running now so wish me luck

I just recently got Humar after checking every day for three days. I thought he'd be awsome, and he is, but there is one thing that is throwing me off. His DPS is .4 lower than that of the white lion, Echeyakee. Alot of people are saying that the .7 faster attack speed is great, but i dont know why it would make that much of a difference. Lastly, Humar does run faster. Anyone know which is better? (all other stats are the exact same)

P.S. My durotar tiger had same stats with with same dps as Echeyakee and the 1.3 attack speed.

i think that most people are just looking for him in the wrong place. hes not near the prowlers, theres a tree near the clif (far right from the road), wheres lioness' and matriarhs with theyr cobs. he's right there, a bit far away from the road. the map doesnt show the right place. and i didnt notice him on my minimap also, when i was there and has track beasts on (just missed it) so i walked around the tree - and there he was! cought my eye at the first moment.

thats the tree i've found him 3 times, dont know if he spawns anywhere else. when i went there to tame him, he was there, just waiting for me. next 2 times,when i went just checking (not to kill him, just to know if hes there) he was also just sitting there, surrounded by his females.

i dont know if he has a timer or something, but i got him at 12:00pm and thats the time i always see him.

Waited at the tree for 25 hours on and off before he popped. I was on the tree and there was a full spawn of lions around the tree. I started taming and he came up the tree and drug 2 of his friends. I died 2 seconds after successfully taming him.

Ran back to the tree, whistled, and there he was.

I have been camping him for two days now. Im on archimonde Server. Started at 8pm server time 12/5 till maintenance at 5am. Then resumed at 11am server time 12/6 so far..till 8:30pm server time. I got lucky and found Humar on my first outting. Get him early at around level 23-25, and work him constently. I have him up to lvl 38 now, and he's a brute in PvE and PvP!

i took a tour south from aubordine to thousand needles, i tamed and dismissed:
-a white wolf from ashenvale
-a couple raptors from wc
-the rake
-the rare windserpent just south of the mulgore entrance
-(got me pissed)i saw eyach's corpse
i decided not to wait around and went down for some pvp action (and a small dance party) by ratchet, checked this page and decided to take myself (29 dwarf) and my guildy (27 gnome mage) back to check for humar, he wasnt there so we slaughtered the area, logged, and logged back in 10 min later... saw him, tamed him, done.

i waited for the damn thing for weeks stopin by every now n then thinkin hey maybe heyl be here this time.. never happened till one day i saw him and got all excited (at lvl 29) i abandoned my lvl 29 pet without thinking and tamed humar... now after this he became impossible to level up and after one day of having him i logged off only to find the next day he was gone... imagine my frustration right now.

I got him today as a level 23 NE hunter, and is he a nice pet.

Failed the first time and had to run away, but the second time he didnt resist my ice trap nor my taming.

To test him out, attacked Swiftmane which is an elite zebra than runs about the place (level 21) and I was able to kill him with Humar knowing only Growl 3 (dropped a nice pair of cloth boots). WSG here I come! Watch out casters :)

Watched my friend get this beast last night by complete chance. We were in Ratchet on our way to the oasis to farm some Deviate Fish, and decided to take a quick look for Humar, and all the poor souls who waste their life waiting for him, and sure enough, I walk over the hill, to see a beautiful black lion sitting in the shadows of the tree. He now has Humar and Echeyakee, pointless yes, but damn, it is so cool. Eilyse, Alliance Night Elf Hunter, Smolderthorn server. Oh yeah, it was around 4:30 a.m. when we caught him.

I went today after reading a post about Humar and got her on the 3rd try. Took me maybe 5 mins to get her. She was sleeping under the tree the 1st time and then she was walking around it the other 2. Since Im a lvl 29 and she is only a lvl 23, it will be a fun test to see if she is worth all the rave everyone is talking about

Ok time 2 piss people off. I got him my first try, I never wanted him or was looking for him, (on my alliance character to).
I just came across him couldn't find any 1 looking for him, heard he was good at pvp and taimed him. I'll lose him if I find a pet I wan't, cause I'm happy with my strider cluchmother, and mist howler.

Well here i am after an 8 hour camp (2,4 hr intervals)for Humar at the patriarch and matriarch tree by the edge of cliff near Ratchet. I wanted this cat so bad I ran around farming cats at different spots on the map, fighting(and dying by) various horde while I waited. Just when i was about to log out and no spawnage of other cats had takin place for about 1/2an hr...*DING* there he was a-sleepin'. I was so excited i nearly fell outta my office chair! My heart was pounding the whole time until i tamed him. I am very happy and don't mind in the slightest all the leveling of him I will have to do(I'm 38n/e, he's 23)as it just means i get to show him off more! He even did fine in SM party -no buffs. A very fast, strong wicked looking pet..Well worth the wait!

Everyone is posting their level they tamed him... I just got him... at 60.

Heh, and as far as pets go, take whatever you like to look at, because the difference betwen a bear and cat tanking is pretty minor. Or a turtle and cat. (A turtle has 2% more damage reduction, and the same health. Yay.)

I bear has 1% more damage reduction, and 300 more health at 60. It really isn't a big deal. For me, as long as my pet will eat fish, it works for me. :) Honestly my cat's DPS applies every fight, while a bears extra health only applies if it gets to 300 or less health. Othewise my cat would have lived. Turtles... well... sorry all I didn't make armor in this game, just reminding you that low armor on a pet at 60 is 39.3% damage reduction, and high armor is 42%. Up to you if you think taking 2 less damage per 100 taken is worth sacrificing pet DPS for.

I replaced echeyakee with humar today.. and even if hes not more than lvl 4, he is absolutly worth it.

I waited by that tree for 2 hours and he finally showed up.

He is in the shadow off the tree as allakhazam says and he wasnt that hard to get. im a lvl 23 hunter i put down a freeze trap and started to tame him. worked first try.

Further to my post below of June 2nd...

I created a new Troll hunter. I have trained Rake, Echy and Humar, got them all to 24, Happy, and Best Friend. I put no talent points into Beast Mastery.

They all have IDENTICAL stats with the exception of attack speed (not to be confused with run speed, which are also all identical). In addition Echy is no different to any bog-standard cat you tame except in color.

For the sake of pedantic-ness stats are listed below

As to Humar's spawn rate - this time I arrived at the tree and someone was there. I camped with him to find the spawn time and he tamed him - I logged in just under 11 hours later to watch him spawn with all the other lions, including the patriarch mentioned in another post, present. Also I noted he spawned at about 20 past the hour which was the same as my previous 5 day camp - this may or may not be a coincidence.

BASIC CAT STATS
Str 52, Agi 43, Sta 88, Int 28, Spr 37
Atk 120, Pwr 84, Def 120, Amr 1002

RAKE
Dmg 19-25, Atk Spd 1.20, DPS 18.7

ECHY
Dmg 33-42, Atk Spd 2.00, DPS 18.7

HUMAR
Dmg 21-28, Atk Spd 1.30, DPS 18.7

I woke up the other day and decided to go search for Humar, it took me 2 hours to spot the tree (because I didn’t check the site :P), but when I went there, there he was, standing in the shadows beside the other lions, out of excitement and stupidity, I pulled him and THEN abandoned my pet, and I didn’t plant any freeze traps, so he killed me, I ran back to the corpse only to find out that he was gone! My "friend" saw him and couldn’t resist taming him, so I got pissed for a bit, but my friend promised he'll help me camp for him.

So we waited, and waited.... and waited some more.

After 12 hours of waiting, no sign of Humar, I was getting really frustrated.

So I went to bed with the laptop next me, I kept waking up every hour to see if he spawned. I even made sure I wasn’t next to the tree, but far away (just incase the whole camping next to it wont make it spawn thing was actually true), and I used eagle eye to spy on the tree.

And then he did... there he was… in the shadow of the tree… just waiting…

He was so easy to tame, one concussion shot, hit tame, then he got frozen with the freeze trap, he only hit me twice before he was all mine...

I think I know how this works; he truly is the shadow of the tree, HE SPAWNS WITH THE SUNRISE!

As the sun raises between the Barrens mountains at 5am (server time) he spawns, so that’s ONCE EVERY 24 HOURS.

Try it for yourself and let me know.

Finally got him after 9 hours of waiting at the cordinate 62.32. Got him at 11.10PM on Nordrassil. I was level 28 when I got him.

I had The Rake from before, and they seem pretty much alike, other then the 0,8 difference in attack-speed that is;)

well im back oin ym alli hunter and i am 41 now and humar is still my pet, best pet i hae ahd so far and he goes crazy with beastial wrath, i killed my lvl 50 rogue frind with him, great pet.

I did not even really want a cat pet, but I was showing a fellow hunter and friend where to go to get him when he hit level 23, and there he was! So I had him watch Humar while I ran down to ratchet, stabled my Mist Howler, and ran back and captured him. Kind of pissed some of my guildies off how easy I found him. ^^

I think my Dwarf Hunter got pretty lucky with him. I dinged 23 and high tailed it down to booty bay for the ride over to the Horde-infested area in which Humar lives. I ran through Ratchet and up the path to the tree he enjoys laying beneath but he was not there. I decided I was going to park myself just below the crest of the hill between the tree (just within tracking range) and Ratchet with the plan to log on periodically over the evening to see if he was there. The first time I re-logged to check I saw “Humar” on track. I dismissed current pet and ran towards the tree only to see a lower level Horde hunter with a regular lion which he named Humar. I decided that visual ID was going to be the best method of finding him so I ran to and scaled the mountain due North of his spawn point. From here, I could use Eagle eye and just barely click the tree to scan around it. I parked him there. The second time I checked was about 10:00 est and low and behold, Eagle Eye revealed he was under the tree. I high tailed it down to the area, concussion shot, freezing trap, tame, and that was that.

Taming Humar is actually harder then it sounds...step 1:Stable or abandon ur current pet.Step 2:Find where Humar spawns at.Step 3:wait at tree for Humar.Step 4:Watch out for alliance THEY WILL KILL HUMAR WHILE UR TAMING HIM.Step5:Tame Humar(Took me 1 try but when i got him i ws lvl 33)might take a few tries to get him.The Final Step:as soon as u get Humar feed his or ELSE(he wil run away).

I got him yesterday on wildhammer.
I found out that he is a rar mob who dont drop any blue items soo his spawn time is between 4 to 6 hours, thats what my friend read in his book called altas or something like that. i was up there first time at 4pm servertime but got bored log out took a lbrs run on my priest and logged in again about 11:30 pm and there he was. got him in first try

Got this bad boy this morning at 6:22 AM MST on Deathwing. I just kept logging in till I saw him there and tamed him. Best thing to do is just log out there and check back every so often if possible.

You can get King Bangalash. level 42, I think, in the Strangleton Valley. He is having the same stats as Humar, same DPS with a longer attack rate. He's advantage is the incredibile movement rate (30% more rapid than Humar and any cat I have seen so far). He will never remain behind when you are using a mount.

Got him after a 9 hour camp, not too bad considering I was doing other things while just checking back every now and then. Thought I'd share his stats with you so you know if he's worth it or not, apart from the prestige factor :P

Best way to do it I found out is to go to Humars tree, log off right thier when you are done playing in the evening (if you go to bed). Log back on in the morning at 6:30am Server time and he should be there. I searched for 3 to 4 days for Humar, time ranging from 10am to 12pm and not once did I come across him. Finally, before logging out last night, I ran to his tree and sat down thier and logged off. Next morning I logged on at 6:30am and he was right thier.

I got Humar yesterday around 1 30 am on Dunemaul. Waited around 2 hours.

Remember seeing those posts about waiting many hours before he spawned? Here's a suggestion.

I got to the tree at around 11 pm. Like many hunters i was afraid that it would spawn when i am not there, so i stayed there. i killed all the little lions under the tree, then climbed the tree and stayed there. 1 hour passed, nothing happened... i noticed that not even the normal mobs spawned... so i thought by standing there i am messing up the spawning... sure enough... by leaving the area for less than 1 min (far enough that even your track beast can't tack that region) all the little lions spawned...

LESSON: BY STAYING THERE YOU ARE MESSING UP THE SPAWNING SYSTEM. (blizzard probably reduce the liklyhood of spawning when you are there so you don't suddenly get serrounded by mobs...)

i logged off (to "get out of the area") and checked every 15 min... got him in 30 mins^^

maybe i was just lucky but i am pretty sure staying there messes up the spawning

(long post... but i think it will help alot of ppl that stayed there blindly waiting for him><)

Been looking for him for days. Went to Ratchet for a quest and looked just for fun at the tree where he spawns.
That was boost of adrenaline when I saw a black cat lying under the tree.
Now I finally got him and looking forward to see other hunters envy me.

humar spawns like around every 9hrs so you can be in for a long wait XD, i was lucky enough to get both Takk and Humar and as a bonus Azerre......due to me asking my freinds to inform me whenever they find any of them XD, all i can say is that there is no difference between Humar and Takk except for their movespeed i think and due to all the cat's attack speed being lowered down to 2.0 they are both the same.....although it does feel good when you actually find them XD, just use thwe waiting time to train your lower weapon skills by killing the other beasts.....P.S: love both their colors! Black looks so cool on them!

I finally got him. Decided to stop by the tree on my was to Stonetalon and there he was. Very easy to tame and he looks great. I haven't seen anyone on my server with him yet (Lightning's Blade).

I am camping out to get him by the tree to the south east. (With all the other cats.)

I have not gotten him yet on Feathermoon, but holy crap this is a great place for a skinner/miner.

There are two quick respawning copper mines and all the cats drop light leather and have a fast respawn.

I got about 5 full stacks of leather and 25ish copper in about 45 minutes. Its better than sitting and waiting.

(The cubs are annoying as hell though.)

I am going to tame a patriarch and use him till I see Humar.

As a young hunter roaming the fertile plains of Mulgore, my tauren alt tamed The Rake. I grew interested in the other Barrens lions, Echeyakee and Humar the Pridelord, and eventually tamed them too in order to compare. At the age of 25 they were identical in all stats except for damage, attack speed, and damage per second. Here's the breakdown:

The Rake
damage 20-26
attack speed 1.2
dps 19.4

Echeyakee
damage 34-44
attack speed 2.0
dps 19.4

Humar
damage 22-28
attack speed 1.3
dps 15.5

I thought Humar was the true beauty of the bunch, but the stats must rule in the end. When the time came to tame another pet, Humar was the first to be released back into the wild. Echeyakee soon joined him--after hunting with the Rake, Echeyakee was just too painfully slow on the attack.

When I'm of age to do so, I hope to tame Broken Tooth and gage her merits as well. Until then, I am more than pleased with the Rake.

took about five hours total. Spent about three camped out, killing lions out of boredom. Then I finally had to go to sleep as it was nearly 1 am. Woke up the next morning, about 10 ish. Logged on to check and BAM.

According to a friend, he had spawned about 3 hours after I went to sleep. He stayed around a while this time, I guess ^___^

I'm so happy right now! Its 6:52 and I just tamed him on Kilrog. Here is how my story goes: I was up for 5 hours last night on and off trying to find him. I was killing the little lions arround the tree waiting for his lordship to spawn. I got tired, seeing as how I had to get up early this morning cuz Im graduating :) and went to bed. My puppy woke me up about 6:40 to go outside to go to the bathroom and I thought, "hey, its worth a try". I hopped on and WAM! a rush of adrenaline as I saw him and the next moment...He Was Mine!

Ok, got him today at 11:30 (24 hour format ;)

Yesterday I went there and kept killing the lions for several hours. Noticed that little "Spawn Stopping" myself, but I didn't have to leave the area for them to respawn. Just had to kill a Zhevra by stepping down from the tree. Then I suddenly had lions spawning all around me.

Anyway, after killing and skinning for ages (they mostly drop Light Leather and I ended up with 70 Medium Leather mostly from making them from Light Leather.) I finally gave up. Logged off.

Today at 11:30ish I logged on, sure enough there he was in the middle of the shadowy patch on the ground. Trap, Concussive Shot, Scorpid Sting, Tame.

And of course three Matriarch adds I forgot to look out for as he climbed the tree. Tamed him with about 36 hp left, jumped off the tree, Aspect of the Cheetah, ran like hell. When I was at dafe distance I told him to Follow, and sure enough, I reached Ratchet with Humar in tow.

I just got him today on Mal'Ganis. I've been camping him for about a day and a half now without any luck. In addition to not finding him, I kept getting lamed by orcs and trolls that ran by. As I was only a 23 hunter I couldn't do much. That would be the reason I'm not going to post up ToD. Anyways, after a while of dieing and getting pissed off I decided to give up. About an hour later after playing some basketball at 24 Hour Fitness I logged back on getting ready to use my Hearthstone to get back to Stormwind. Well you probably know the rest from there, he was there I tamed him w/ freeze trap etc etc. Just decided to post this up if you're on Alliance, he's worth the dieing and waiting.

Logged on this morning as my lvl 23 hunter to finish off the southern barrens quests. I was hunting Washt Pawne and found a rare thunderlizard called Thunderstomp. I took his green and went about my business.

The Dwarfs at the Bael Modan digsite yielded another 2 rare spawns, one was a chief demolition expert and one on a crane overlooking the pit was a digmaster. So I went about taking them to pieces and mosied back on up to ratchet to hand in Chen's Empty Keg.

I thought, I may aswell go have a look for Humar, and what do you know? He was there the bugger, I immediately HS'd to crossroads and stabled my echeyakee.

Funnily enough the day before I found a rarespawn silithid on the field of giants that I'd never seen before. 5 rarespawns in 2 days! Must've been a server restart.

Am proud of Humar now, though he's yet to get any loyalty levels. His attack speed is 0.7 seconds quicker than Echeyakee at a tidy 1.3s and he's the coolest looking creature this side of the Barrens.

Good luck to anyone hunting him. My recommendation is to have a character posted at the tree where he spawns and check every once in a while.

Good luck to anyone on Twisting Nether though =P He takes hours to respawn.

I am a lvl 35 hunter on the moonglade server (horde) now i have had Humar since lvl 23 and he is now lvl 34 and so far i love the cat he is real fast attack speed 1,3 secs and his armor is about 2100 (i have maxed out his defense in talents) but his damage is only around 36 - 42 or something but i have a friend who has the white lion around lvl 20 and does the same damage and only has around 1000 armor but when he reach my lvl the armor will be about the and the damage will be quite wild i guess now i know he only has an attack speed of 2,0 secs and i was just wondering if there is another pet who has a great armor and damage with a decent attack speed? but still it will be hard to replace him coz i love uniqe pets

I got Humar today. My first attempt to find him but I did have to wait like 3 hours for him to spawn.

I have a lvl 23 troll hunter on Skywall. I waited and waited, ran in circles around the tree killing every cat in sight. At about 6:25am(server), when I was just about to give up the cats stopped spawning, which I though was weird cause they spawn pretty fast. Sure enough at 6:30am(server), 9:30 (east coast), the damn cat finally appeared. I like a moron used real sticky glue on him before I set a freezing trap, but luckily it held him in place long enough for me to train him on the first try. =) Gotta love that 1.3 attack speed for screwing with casters.

I found him at 62/33, which for those with out coords is the tree above the 'C' in rachet, it is closest to the cliffs, kinda by the dead tree for the ishamuhale quest and has orange cats- matriarchs of some sort with cubs all around, until Humar spawns, then it is just him. when I tamed this beast he had 1.3 AS, I noticed someone said in the link above he has 2.0 but he doesn't anymore, infact he has now 1.03 AP which makes him 2nd fastest pet in the game only after Broken tooth and ZG bats so its pretty cool... donno the name of the other rare barrens spawn, a white version of him, it looks like him, only white instead, but I was told he was just the same...

finally I found my humar. It took me many hours i randomly just now went at 430 AM and decided to look. lucky me i got him he is lvl 23 my eychakee is lvl 26 i have the same problem.... I love them both. I believe eychakee will have a lil more dps but humar will have higher attack speed (good for mages) his is 1.3 eychakee has a attack speed of 2. well ima go play with him enjoy!

Killed him as a lv24 cow hunter, he's put up quite a fight, but he never call for help.

After reading how amazing he is, I wanted him so badly. I tamed him on the 3rd night as lv24 hunter. It wasn't too hard. I set a freeze trap before taming. without the 10 second from the trap, I would have been a dead cow =(

I just picked Humar yesterday around 7:30pm PST. At first he wasn't there. I waited for about 10 mins with no luck. Then I decided to sharpen my melee skills and cleared all mobs around the tree. Then I waited for them to respawn. Voila! Humar emerged.

So for those who can't find him and have been waiting for a long time, try to kill all lions around the tree and wait for the respawn. Hope that helps.

So far so good with him as my pet. He strikes fast and has great armor. Now I just need to come up with a good name for him.

So I camped for this damn cat for a few hours one weekend, as the Horde kept ganking me. I finally gave up and moved on. Then as I head to Ratchet at level 33, he is finally there. Then there is the mental debate, do I tame or not? Well of course I tamed and gave up my BFD turtle who was even level with me. Im now 35 and still trying to bring Humar up as he cant hold aggro much with Growl Rank 3. I compared him at level 27 to the level 35 turtles in Thousand Needles, and his armor is almost the same, and just slightly lower on HP. So I say he is worth it. Cannot wait for him to get to level 30.

decided to test Xisht's theory on the sunrise.

logged in at 0535 server time and waited away from the tree. sun had not risen over the mountains to the east yet.

literally watched him spawn @ 0647 server time. sun was 2/3rd clear of the mountains.

dunno if that proves anything at all, but throwing the info out there.

now to do some catch-up to get him up to my level.

On Wed.12/28/05 I logged on at 6amgame time. I killed everything in the area-lions around the tree, zebra, etc. At 9:40 am Swiftmane spawned, so i killed him. At 9:48 Humar spawned. Coincidence? Doesn't matter to me. Now one of my two duoing NE hunters has The Ghost (Echeyakee) and the other has The Shadow (Humar) and I love the looks as we run by ). Hope this helps you get Humar for your own.

So here it is... Humar is about a 9 hour respawn. Not always right to the minute. 3 of us in a row got him. One at 10:30am, one at 7:35pm, and me this morning at 5:10am. All listed to server time. If this holds true, there should have been a spawn this afternoon right around 2:00pm, and another at around 11:00pm. Count up from there.

I was running around at level 25 gathering up flight points. While I was in Ratchet getting the new flight point I thought I'd run up and see if Humar was there. To my suprise, there he was! I tried to tame him and he kicked my level 25 butt. So I ran down to the bank in Ratchet and got all my stamina gear, a few defense pots, and some fort pots and went back for another try. He didn't kick my butt, but he didn't tame the first time and I died as a result. Took my last pots and gave it one last whirl and BANG! I now have Humar as my pet. If you train him up right with claw, rake, bite, and eventually prowl, he is a real MOTHER and only gets better with levels. Until now I have had the same Nightsaber since level 10 and while there is nothing wrong with him what so ever and the stats are comparable, Humar just seems to hit a ton harder and way faster.

So, good luck to anyone seeking him. I hope you get him and enjoy him as much as I do.

PS He rules in PVP!

I'd been camping the tree for three days and had almost decided to give up. Hopped on my 60 shaman and rode from XR to Ratchet to get the new FP and decided 'eh, what the hell I'll check the tree'. Needless to say he was there in all his glory. I flipped out, logged out right there and brought my 23 hunter (who I had shacked up in the Ratchet inn just in case) to the tree as fast as possible, cussing the random torches around town for snagging me in my frantic haste. I got there and at first Humar looked very dead, just a black blob laying on the ground, selected him and he was alive. Laid my trap, concussive shot and started the tame. I'm so happy I stuck with it and finally got my cat.

Echeyakee been camping the tree for 4 whole days and Humar didn't spawn, I spent 3 hours around the tree killing the cats there and no chance at all.... I hope it will spawn today.. I play on Mazrigos

Not sure if it matters but i camped for about 2 hours on Kargath Server about 10:30pm server time. Swiftmane, a level 21 elite zheva was running around. I killed him and went to the tree and Humar was there! Tamed him first time! He is definitely cool!

One day i was in ratchet and decided to have a look to see if he was there like i always do but i never manage to see him until today there he was unda da tree and i stabled my Ghost saber and got out WAshte Pawn to dismiss, used concussive arrow and freeze trap n got him no prob.

Today being 1st of March 07 :)

The first time I saw this beauty I was with a pet that I didn't want to abandon, so I went to the stables, when I came back, Humar was already killed by some mindless orc warrior :/
I camped him yesterday evening (I had to duel another hunter for the place in the line ;P ) but he wasn't there... A guildie said, that he tamed him at 4.00 a.m. server time, so i tried at 5.30, but he wasn't there... about 8.45 I just randomly logged to check if I have mail, and he was there :D poof and he's mine :)
after the attack speed normalization (the nerf, I mean...), I just go for the looks and abilities of the pets - humar is my favourite cat in the game (BLACK! :> ) and for my tanking pet I'm off to get the BLACK armored swine from RFK (Rotting Ag'mar or something close to it :) )

I got him at 5:12 am server time 8:14 am my time. I was sitting where he was going to spawn and I saw him. I had to abandon my raptor and jump down and I didnt even try to attack him before I started training him so I died easily, then I dies 2 other times, and when I got him I almost died but I got him trained, but happy now that I got him. I had my level 26 Troll hunter sitting in that spot since about that same time yesterday. I have both the Echeyakee and Humar the Pridelord and a Ghostpaw runner..I like them all so far.

I've been casually looking for this guy for a week or so. I happened to be in Ratchet so I stopped in to see if he was there. Boom he was. I started to tame and at just the last second a orc runs up and steals his attention. Well the orc dieds but I didn't have the HP to try another taming attempt. After some potion and quick healing I start to tame again, this time trapping him in ice so he can't hit me right away.

Just as he completed taming the orc ran up to cause trouble again as did his undead friend on a mount. LOL he made rude gestures at me but Humar was mine...

Okay, for any of you who were curious I went and tamed Humar tonight after a 6 hour camp under his tree. (The maps are accurate its just north of Ratchet near 2 copper deposits and is in the far southeast corner of the plateau.) As far as I can tell his stats have not changed, however for a recap here they are (these are right after I tamed him and fed him to happy)

He's on a timer. Most people believe it is an eleven hour timer. But I don't know for sure. Took me three days to find him. The problem is that a lot of Horde run through and kill him all of the time.

I just got Humar, and I thought I would post my "personnal how-to" since farming that cat was a real pain!

I spent hours waiting around the shadow this week, sometimes killing the mobs around, sometimes not. Someone told me not to stand in the shadow, that it would not let Humar pop (Myth?). In short, waiting around, made me go nuts and I wasted a lot of time, it simply didn't work.

I woke up at 6 this morning, checked around, nothing. I killed a few of the lions around the tree, and went on my "mule" for some AH time.

When I came back, at 6:46 Eastern Time, HUMAR WAS THERE! He was standing in the shadow of the tree, not moving at all.

Ice Trap, Concussion, Tame, Feed, /Yell, bingo :P

My opinion? Don't stand there doing nothing, with 2-3 other hunters doing the same. It's a psychological challenge :P I really think camping each 30 minutes doing some other stuff in the house / computer is way better, since the pet is not moving. There's always a slight risk that someone arrives while you are AFK and that the pet is there...small probability in my book :P

So I sat, and I sat, and I say somemore. After 3 days of sitting around that tree for about 3 or 4 hours a day he spawned.

Someone tried to tell me he wouldn't spawn if I was camping him, load of BS, for he did spawn and I watched him spawn. I then tamed him and ran off chearing my brains out.

I finally got him after a week of camping. Got him Tuesday night at 12:35am EST. Funny thing bout it that this was the first day a horde was also camping for him but he was 27 so left me alone (but did call his budies a few times). So after getting ganked a few times i shadowmeld behind the cliff and eagle eyed the spot. Saw Humar spawn and he was on the opposite side of the tree as the horde and the horde was attacking a matriarch at the time. Sprinted over there and tamed him quick. Then showed off to the orc which pissed him off and he attempted to kill me!

ya i tamed him yesterday. after 2 days of waiting and killin worthless lions and dueling other hunters.i finally found him right as i was about to give up.i was lucky that none of the other 3 hunters that have been loggin in and out to see if he's there wernt there then, of course with my luck he resisted my first fear and almost killed my in the posses. anyways its worth it to have him he is an amazing pet and all that other stuff.... Update:I'm OFFICIALY PISSED!I'd been there like,ever since 6 this morning,and all of a sudden,like 10 mins before he spawns,2 other hunters show up,both Horde.Then,He spawns,And In my haste to tame him,I forgot to freeze trap,and died.I rez,and come back to find the one hunter was dead,and came back,and Humar is nowhere to be seen.I don't even KNOW if the guy tamed him or not,it's SO FRUSTRAITING!I WANNA KILL THAT S.O.B.!This is gonna take me FOREVER TO GET OVER.I'm still shaking.../sigh...

Anyway, I captured him at ~4:20 AM and logged back after work at ~2:00 PM and he was up. Which makes his spawn time < 10 hours.

i tamed him at 5pm german server time!
an awesome run, swam from westfall down to booty bay - ship - rachet - flight point (great!).
then up the hill (north directly from rachet, by the tree), i turned my animal scan on, and there he was :-D.
frost trap, slow arrow (don't know the english word for it :-( ) and started taming him.
3 sec left and 3,2,1 mine :-))))))

now the dates:
so i'm 25 and he's an 23+ elite, rare spawn, unique skin lion :-)

After a level of trying to get Mist Howler in Ashenvale, I decided to swap targets and go for Humar instead. I was going to head to Ratchet first, but changed my mind and see if he was up. Took me a little while to find the right tree (it's the one nearest the cliff edge), and after taking down Swiftmane, I found him.

First attempt, lucky me because there was a NE camping him on and off all day. I got there, saw him standing in the shadow of the tree, so I sat on a hill for about 15 minutes then he logged. So I waited around 30 or so minutes and just when I was about to log he appeared. 3:25am EST, Sentinels server. First time around he ignored my tame, so I had to run away hoping no one looking for him ran in.

Tamed him on Mal'Ganis, 12:36 server time. Tried earlier to camp him but gave up, went to hillsbrad for a bit, hearthed back to the barrens and sure enough he was right there by the big tree. Took two attempts to tame him but now he's mine :D

I tamed Humar the Pridelord on Sunday 14th Jan 03.30am after a 3 hour camp was easy with freeze trap as I am only lvl 23. His stats are brilliant higher as standard than a fully trained Patriarch. I just need to think of a cool name for him now,ANY IDEAS?

i tamed him at 51, i found the best way to train was to keep him defensive and grind green difficulty mobs. Im grinding him in Azhara, lots of mageweave drops and leathers. Might as well make some money while grinding Brisk (i was thirsty!) so i stuck to killing th ghosts, silver and mage weave drop. Im now 52 and he's 37.

Killed him today as a 28 Hunter .. was easy untill he called out 6 of his friends nearby. Loot consisted of Defender Leggings of the bear. He was only lvl 25 elite now i sit here and wait for respawn to see if i can tame him or not.. its been an hour thus far.

Wow, this was easy. Did it as 23 Night Elf Hunter. Flew to Astranaar from Auberdine, ran to the Barrens. Ran around his spawn points, no lion. Finally found the big tree and 'Humar the Pridelord' popped up on the tracker. Found the black lion and put Hunter's Mark on him. He was on the other side of the tree from me, with several of the higher level lions. Ran around the tree to his side and saw that he was completely open. Backed up a few steps, laid a freezing trap, and hit him with concussive shot. The timing and distance was perfect as he hit the trap, he was about 3/4 tamed by the time he actually reached me after becoming un-frozen. He only got about 5 hits in, which were decent since I am the same level as he is and he's elite. Ran off with Humar shortly after. To tell the truth, Dishu was more difficult than this and she's 10 levels lower. Whole thing took maybe 10 minutes. Only played around with him for a little bit so far and let me say, he's awesome.

I think that I am at the right tree but he won't see m to spawn, any help would be appreciated, I have tried to kill all the lions around the tree, but after killing them over and over again for a few hours I decided that maybe that isn't doing anything.

A couple of months ago I was sick and laid up I had nothing to do for 4 days running except play WoW (sad life I know) anyway I camped Humar for myself, my 3 friends and a guildy I didn't know well. I can confirm he is on an 11 hour spawn. I was in my twentys at the time and still have him as my main pet at 40. He spawns on the south side of the tree in the shadow.

Day 1: Spent an hour at the spawn, skinning, waiting, boring, lame. Log off hunter at the spawn, and will check back every hour to see if he's there. Log on priest and lvl.

9 hours later, and 9 log ons later, who's sitting in the shade, fresh as a daisy. One tame. Got him. Easy. Done.

No waiting for 11 hours at the same tree like a lamer, no wondering where the *!@# he is, no fuss, no muss. Was harder to tame my mangeclaw.

Ok, I can confirm a few things for the Humar Hungry.

Have spotted him on 2 servers now. He's in the shade under the big tree at 62,33 of ratchet with the lvl 15-17 Pridelords and Matriarchs around them, NOT under the tree by the road (my first mistake). Open map and look for the xy coordinates there.

Have seen him spawned at the same time as Swiftmane. He didn't seem too offended.

If you kill him (not that a Hunter would want to), he'll call all the other cats nearby to help.

Other than that, he was easy to tame with an ice trap.

yeah sry bout last post... i just tamed him! bout 2:30 on the mannoroth server.... my friend tamed him at around 450... so ive answered my own question and that is that humar has a 10.5 hour respawn...

so heres how it went... im lvl 24 btw... i logged on just to check one more time he wasnt there so i went to have a look around and as i turn to run around there he was spawn not 10 feet away... backed up laid a freezy... hit him with a concussive shot... caught the 4 sec stun froze him... he hit me 2 times and bam he was tamed!
i am very lucky i think gl to everyone else... sux being a dwarfe and trying to get him u get atked alot...

... crazy. At around 6:30pm my time, I parked myself on a hill above Ratchet looking at Humar's tree... he wasn't there, and I had to go see my friend at a cafe, so I made sure there were no mobs in my area, logged, and came back at around 2am. Humar was there! Killed two lionesses w/ cubs, set down a frost trap, concussive shot, began taming... within three-four hits he was mine. :D He's currently my main pet and I love 'im.

OK, I can verify that 1.Swiftmane does not make Humar spawn and 2. Swiftmane is a *!@#$ to solo without a pet...I wasted 3 pots to figure this out and finally tamed a nearby raptor just to even the odds. Still waiting on Humar though....I wish he spawned more often.

Tamed him at 1:59pm today. Had one of my alts hanging out and was logging in checking every 30 minutes or so. Tamed him first try with the aid of a frost trap.

A guildie is now stalking him trying to tame him as well. I guess we'll see for certain what his spawn rate is.

After seeing him on this website i decided that I had to have him. Camped at that tree for one night, didn't see him, came back the next day and there he was. He killed me twice because he had help but on the third try i got him by himself, and after that it was pretty easy. He took me down to about half health, and then he was mine. :) He looks awesome and is already showing me he is gonna be a great pet.

Ok, I'll admit it....I cheated. I've been thinking about tryin to tame Humar for some time now but hated the thought of camping yet another mob for an eternity and sitting around wasting time waiting for it to spawn. I finally decided to give it a whirl, but since I have a lvl 14 horde hunter figured I'd log her in and take a look around before I made the trip with my Night Elf Hunter, who was the one who wanted him. I went to the tree mentioned in several previous posts and marked on the map and to my surprise there he was! I quickly camped the Tauran and got me NE and ran like the wind...got turned around twice.( I have a real bad sense of direction) I figured as long as it was taking me to get to him that someone would have killed him or taken him but no. He was still there. I killed the ladies in his haram first to avoid adds and went after him. I'm 28 and he's 23 so I figured this would be cake. First time I got too close and I thnk I was too excited and still got a few adds and they killed me. Him critting me for 95 over and over didn't help either. Sooo, I went back...killed everything but him and second time went much better. Got the tame off and ported out of there. Now the fun of leveling him up to par, But I'm still excited. And I guess I'm very lucky too. Good Luck to everyone.

Tamed Humar @ 7:40 PST on spawn... waited all night for his butt and he is finally mine. Tamed him 1st try @ lvl 26... set up ice trap pull with concussive shot and start taming right away... the trap will hold him till your about 50% tamed then u have to tank him the rest of the way.

With an 8 hour straight camp, I managed to get him at 1:20am last night. I was determined after my 6 hour camp the previous night.

He spawned right in the shadow just like people have said.

Took over 2000 arrows to keep cleaning off his pride around the tree ... had firends supply me and take all the leather I was getting from the Matriarchs.

At lvl 24 ... I gained a half lvl by killing lvl 18 greens! That's gross!

Put my frost trap down, concuss shot, tame. He barley scrathed me at lvl 24 before he was tamed.

A followup post from this morning - First im on the Malfurion server. As stated earlier today Humar spawned at 9:40 am 8 min after killing Swiftmane. To test respawn time i logged back on at 6pm he spawned at 6:45 - no killing Swiftmane and no one killing lions around tree. He also did not spawn in one of the Patriarch spawn spots but in his own spawn point ,both times, between 2 matriarch spawn points in the bigger shadow that the tree cast. Hope this additional info helps you with timing his spawn. Have fun! Oh and if you are a skinner youll get lots of medium leather and hides doing lions while waiting for him.

I got Humar twice using this method: When you are hunting him, and someone your fraction is too, don't be an ass about it. Make friends with them so that if you get it, or he does, you guys will know when to come back! But if their mean and get Humar, so what? you got the exact time he spawned and just come abck 8-9 hours later. (Check alittle before and stay alittle after this time window) But this works wonderfully.

Got him yesterday with my lvl 36 elf hunter on Stormreaver. Didn't camp him or anything, just saw him on the way to Desolace, so I tamed him. Leveling him up is going to take a while, so I hope he's worth it. I only got him to 26 after a couple of hours.

I'm a PVE player I have no plans whatever to PVP. I'm lv40 with most of my points in beast mastery if it makes a difference what I want to know is why is this pet worth having. I tamed him a short while ago and cant find and post that says why he's good why he's worth having. There's plenty of posts describing people's experiences camping him come on guys that sort of post isn't helpful. Forgot to add my current pet is Bhag'thera given this is it worth keeping him.

His spawn time is rather sporadic on Kirin Tor. I'd been watching his tree for the past few days to try and get a handle on his early-morning spawn times for the hunters in my guild who were interested in him (since I usually just sit and idle in Thunder Bluff when I'm done questing/grinding for the night anyway, thought I'd make myself useful).

Yesterday, he spawned at 4:19 AM PST and was tamed immediately by a BE who'd been messing with the matriarchs under the tree. She followed her taming by laughing at me and making a rude gesture. I assume she thought I was there to tame him too and was just too slow on the draw. Same to you, sister.

Today he spawned at 2:41 AM PST and was tamed shortly thereafter by a tauren who was very nice and said she'd been trying for him for almost a month. I congratulated her and gave her some meat when she realized she hadn't brought enough to sate her new friend.

I'm thinking each time he's killed/tamed, it resets the 8-9 hour timer before we see him again. Add to the equation that sometimes he's snapped up immediately after he spawns, sometimes he sits there for a couple hours until someone comes looking for him, and the end result is you never really know WHEN he'll turn up next (unless you know when he was last slain or tamed).

Good thing my secondary hunter's already got this black beauty or I might find it frustrating :)

Tamed him around 2am server time (Draenor).

Interesting experience.

Spotted him at random on an alt. Logged and got on my hunter (29) and hopped a ride to Ratchet. He was still there when I got on the scene, so I geared up to tame him.

..and a lv22 Mage starts inviting me to group. I declined twice. The gal (or guy, as we never know who's really at the keyboard.. lol) started saying she needed him. Something about a "once in a life time" quest. And begs me to not only let her kill him, but -help- kill him, in the mean time offering me an intel buff as a bribe (I guess?).

I fairly well ignored this person. In the handful of months I've played WoW, I don't recall Humar being involed in a quest (nor do I think Blizz would be cruel enough to make this guy a quest spawn - though I'm convinced Humar is a play on the word "humor," given that this handsome lion has a sadistic timer that makes hunters want to scream.. and I'm utterly convinced Blizz has done it for the sake of a good chuckle). So I, of course, start taming Humar, but the lv22 Mage proceeds in interrupting the process and trying to kill him.

To spare the mage the frustration of death after Humar deaggroed off me, I reaggroed him, but the mage kept interrupting my tame... and eventually was brought to a swift death. By that point the three attempted tames had drained my mana, and I'd taken a good deal of damage, so I moved away enough to lose his attention.. rehealthed and remana'ed.. and managed to tame him on the first try (frost trap included) without interruption.

Of course the Mage got back to her body and proceeded in calling me all sorts of wonderful names. I assured her the lion would be back, and she could kill him for her 'quest' at that time. After all, she'd been camping him for 12 days (though I'd seen him at least four times throughout the week). She's bound to suceed sometime.

Sorry that was long. I just thought it was an interesting story. xD Of the three total times I've tamed Humar, it was never quite so amusing as this go round. But then again, they do say that the third time's always a charm...

I had a normal pet for quite a while, a spotted leopard cause I grabbed him at early level to be funny. Running around the elven start areas with him. Anyways, tamed him all the way up with me and decided it was about time to look for an uncommon pet. I ran across Echyackie, but a bit too low to level up. SO anyways, I ran across this and went looking for Humar.

I arrived at the tree every said he was at, (The one at the end of the plateau just above gadget on the map) (5:15pm est, feb 5) And there were I'd say 15 or so lions around the tree. No Humar. So being level 35 with not much fear of aggro, I hopped up in the tree, stealthed and waited.

After 20 or so minutes, scanning over the red dots on the map was getting tiresome, so I killed everything in range with multi-shot to clear it up. And waited. Stuff started respawning, no Humar. So I logged out and played a new character to level 4, logged back in and checked, no Humar, Logged out, Checked my auctions with my other characters, logged in, No Humar.

Noticed I had mail, ran back to Gadget to check it, ran back to the tree, No Humar. Killed everything again.....down to the last patriarch. Ready...aim...Fi...POP! HUMAR! I quickly moved to break the aimed shot on the Partiarch, fell off the side of the tree, dropped an ice trap and let her rip.
I think he hit me twice. (He popped for me at about 9:30pm est, feb 5.)

And now Milo is part of the family.

He's pretty cool, looks real cool. I took him to some green skinning areas to level him and train him a bit, won't be long before he is up with my old cat's abilities.

(On a side note, I saw 1 orc the whole time (not a hunter). no-one was camping him at any time I came in to check, and any monsters in the area killed, were killed by me) So he was pretty free for whoever waited for him.)

Just tamed him on the Korialstrasz server at 11:15 AM EST Feb. 7. Had my shammy alt camped out under his tree and kept checking every half hour - When he spawned my Lvl 24 Blood Elf Hunter got there ASAP - Used Concussive shot - laid Freezing Trap and tamed him no prob - hardly did any damage to me at all.

Now for a name....

Even at lvl27 this guy can be a challenge. At the end of the fight he calls for a bit of backup and all the lions in the area add making this fight much tougher than it should be =/ If your lucky you kill him before the adds kill you, if you're not than well im sure you can figure it out

can i tame humar? im a lvl 21 elf hunter almost 22. i know that i need to be lvl 23 before i can tame 23 lvld beast. i was wondering if someone from the horde help me get humar or echeyakee. my daughter always watch every time i play and she really love the animals that i have as a pet and she even named them. will someone that has the horn for echeyakee help me get him.

I finally got my black lion pet after camping him for 3 days, and thought I would add a couple of my observations to his thread.

Mainly: killing everything around his spawn point is NOT necessary. He doesn't seem to share a spot on the spawn table with anything else. He's just on a very long timer. When he finally popped for me, I hadn't killed anything around the tree for a couple hours. When he did pop, all of the lion spawns around the tree were also up. (6 matriarchs/cubs, and 2 patriarchs.)

Also, he popped on the east side of the tree. So you know where to sit if you want to see him as soon as he spawns.

I tamed him with no trouble at level 25, he beat me up pretty badly, but not so badly that I worried about dying before the tame finished. An ice trap would be a good idea for safety though. I was just so excited when he finally popped, I forgot to set a trap. :P

Roit, I got Humar to level 29 finally (pain in the bum) and did a quick comparison to my Nightsaber Stalker at the same level. My Nightsaber has roughly 120 more armour than Humar, 0.9 more dps and 4 more in all stats. Humar has 0.10 quicker attacks, don't know how much impact that'd have on his ability to hold aggro, really...

Anyway, as far as pets go, I don't really think he's worth getting. He's one of the coolest looking ones though, so I'm not sure :P The difference isn't really that huge, even though 120 armour is quite a lot. You be the judge.

Through my career I have tamed all three of the Lions worth mention, Echyakee, The Rake and Humar the Pride Lord.

Through personal experience I found Echy's slower attack speed unable to hold hate as well when I sent him in to Tank. My fiancee on the other hand prefers to play Hunter as more of a melee style and I leveled a Horde character just so she could get him and he works perfectly for her in that aspect.

As for The Rake, I found him to be overrated. I tamed him with the same Horde character I was leveling to gain the Echyakee quest and found him unable to tank properly, either dying or losing the hate long before he ever should have. After several trips back to my body I quickly dismissed him and headed for Durator to catch Death Flayer and was most pleased.

Now, Humar. I must say he is my pride and joy. His attack speed shines as does his run speed. He never loses hate unless I'm spamming abilities or popping rapid fire, and even then he doesn't lose it til a good three shots after rapid fire has finished. 85% of the time he outlives me and this is after I send him to pull a mob off of me to increase my survival chances. He's never failed me and has been there to drop quite a few elites I never should have been able to solo at my level. I believe it was worth the near eight hours I spent camping.

Now of course all this is personal experience, and there will be veriations of stat placement and playing styles. I suggest trying out anything that catches your eye and sticking with what works for you.

i tamed him when i was a 27 troll, now im level 57 and i still have him. He soloes the undead in winterspring which is pretty crazy since they are around the same level. i have no intention of ever changing him for anything else, i might stable him and swtich back and forth between him and rak'shiri but thats it =P happy huntering

i went to xroads from tarren mill to catch humar cuz my twilight runner wasnt cutting it ;p as soon as i got there i saw like 2 lvl 17 first timers spamming in LFG channel "NEED HELP KILLING LVL 23 ELITE" so i was like sure ill help while i wait they inivted me into a group n they were trying to kill humar...-_-... so it old em to back off n idiots kept attacking him while i was taming so i distract shotted n ran so far away taht they couldnt get to me n tamed him there

Found him this morning on Proudmoore with my 23 hunter.

Advice for catching him: try early in the morning, use the "/target Humar the Pridelord" (thanks Tarmiriel!). Sit in the tree, check back every few hours.

Took me one evening, but I suppose I was lucky.

I've tried taming several elites, but he is by far the best :) Beautiful look, beautiful stats.

at 11pm server time so sunrise theroy is wrong...i waited all #$%^ing day grinded a whole lvl off the lions around the tree, then logged on to my warlock to make some spider's silk boots logged back on my hunter and there he was.

I got him just now under the north of Ratchet southeast of where Ishamuhale spawns.

I had some trouble with some Alliance 2 lvls above me (I'm 26 btw) but i for my 33 druid to help :P

Great thing for me I only had to wait for an hour and a half. Tamed him with no problem.

I see I was quite lucky when I tamed Humar on Moonglade. I grinded a whole day to get my Troll Hunter to the correct level (23), and the first thing I did when I dinged, was to walk up to the tree where he spawns.
I couldn't believe my luck! There he was! One frost trap and BAM he was mine :) Named him Akio
Went directly to kill a lvl 27 mob (quest). Though we died on first try (because I mucked it up and managed to drown...) he did fabously on second. Kept aggro and was only down to half his health when we finished.

I got him yesterday Afternoon around 3 p.m. on Aerie Peak. I camped his tree for about 4 hours skinning and dropping them the loot off in OG AH. Many Alliance hunters came and went after spending only a moment to see if he was there. I was also tabbing back and forth between WoW and this forum just to make sure I was at the right spot. I set a macro that I would spam to target him just incase I didn't have a visual. After so much waiting the macro targeted him. I dismissed my disposable lion and put down a frost trap and started to tame. He resisted 3 attempts and I had to run for my life. But on the 3rd shot I finally got him and have to say he was worth the trouble. He hits so quick and looks great. I can't wait till he gets dash.

Finally got this bad boy this morning at 4:20 AM server time on Anvilmar. Waited all night and finally went to bed and woke up every few hours to check with no luck. Woke up this morning before work and checked, no Humar :(. Took a shower and was getting ready to leave and decided to check again and wasn't there at first and then I seen him spawn.

I failed the first attempt, died, came back and a Tuaren hunter was standing there looking at him. I waited to see what he was going to do... he finally skirted him and ran off. I captured him, yay! He's so beautiful! I've had The Rake since 12 and just got him for his striking appearance and rarety. Can't wait to get home and work with him.

Thank you to everyone on here, you gave me hope.

Got him again this morning for my brother at 5:30 sever time on Icecrown. Sitting there all alone...waiting to be tamed. I have seen him 4 times this week, but...there was always someone there to get him before I could. (Unlike some Alliance people I have seen that shoot him while you are trying to tame him) Patience is all it takes to get him...if you keep trying...eventually you will log on and he will be lying there.

This cat has an awsome skin and stats r good too.

One day I was in Ratchet when I decided to check for him (like I always do but never manage to see him.) and there he was i just stared at him for a good 30 min when i realized "oh yea i gotta tame him!" i summoned my pet to dismiss but i realized i had out the ghost saber wich i adored so i ran to stables got out Washte pawn and abandoned him used concussive shot and ice trap and tamed in no time. Very nice pet but im not sure wich is better Ghost Saber or Humar

congrats man! i am also on a PVP server i was farming around that tree skinning all the lions for some pocket money, and an undead rouge spared my life, thank god she could have schooled me and then bam 4-5mins later Humar pops i spent 2 days camping him and i was so nervious and shakey it was like killing the Valkrum emporer in FFXI what a rush lol, well i got him all i can say is he is so friggin' awesome, i can't belive his armor is 932 at lvl 23 and his attacks are insane as well as his speed for running! he keeps up with me with aspect of the cheetah!<(^-^<)<(^-^)>(>^-^)> GL everyone if your going for him!

Turned 23 today. Figured what the heck, let's go give Humar a try.

Found the tree. Killed the male patriarchs. Parked my hunter there and played alts a while. Came back every half hour or so over 4 hours or so.

Got nervous because sometimes I'd come in and there'd be a Troll or someone killing there. Or there'd be dead lion bodies someone had recently left. I worried someone else was also stalking Humar.

It got late. Figured I'd come in one last time. There he was! HUGE! Beautiful!

I set my frost trap and tamed him. Literally 20 seconds later a lvl 27 orc hunter ran up and went ARGH! And ran off. He'd probably seen Humar on track right before I tamed him.

He's awesome. He shrank - in the wild he's huge. But he's a realy good looking lion. I'm so glad it only took this long.

There is good advice here. If you park you hunter there and play alts a while - and check the hunter every so often - you'll probably get Humar - and w/out staring at your screen for 8 hours straight. Which is hell. I used to play EQ - believe me, I know. Hehe.

Humar is one of the coolest pets in WoW! He's black as opposed to Echayakee's white color. He's probably the most popular pet in the game. Anyway, let's get down to the facts:
- I tamed Humar about 3 weeks ago at about 9:30 A.m. server time on the Kel'Thuzad server.
-Some tips:
Some players spend countless hours camping near that dang tree waiting for him: WRONG
That's boring!
You must be patient. Everytime you log out, sacrifice you rest bonus and log out near the tree. Check periodically and BOOM! He appears! Happened with me!
All it takes is patience, and with a lil bit of luck, you'll tame him! Happy hunting!

i am not sure if the respawn times posted are right. i camped that area for 13 hours yesturday and nothing. but of course i took a 5 minute break and went to the bathroom. i come back and a piece of crap walks in, tames him and leaves. anyways, i waiting 8 hours, nothing, 10 hours nothing, 12 hours nothing. so i dont know what to do.

I have Humar as my main cat on my main character, 46th level Tauren hunter -- and also on my other character, a 28th level Dwarf hunter. Got him at 26 and 28 respectively. The tree is just before you get to Rachet on the left hand side of the road (as you're facing Rachet). Go down a little and it's the one with all the Patriarchs, Matriarchs and cubs around it.

I sat the first time for around six hours and he spawned around 6am my time (eastern.) I was so excited, I had him down to about half health before I realized that I was supposed to be TAMING, not KILLING.

He's faster than Ekia, less armor. I still think he's the better all-around cat. I've also got King B and they're pretty comparable. My Humar was taught dash and prowl. He's pretty awesome.

Thanks for all the advice! I camped up in the tree and then logged till just after the server reset. Came back into the game and tamed Humar the Pridelord at 5AM on Gurubashi. It only took one try with no traps, gimmicks, or even a shot fired... Right now I'm feeding him hot wings from the fair... lol...

Ps. Frost trap is really good idea when you tame him. He hits hard when your lv is 23

I tamed him last night with my lvl 23 hunter in Classic (Mirage Raceway EU at 22:30 ST). I semi camped him for several hrs. Had my hunter in position while playing an alt and just checking in from time to time. I even had my alchemist send over a Troll Blod potion, should he spawn. I had almost given up, but thought I'd check in one last time before logging off, and Lo and Behold there he was! First pull was a mess as I was so nervous, so I had to run away like Sir Robin, but managed to get a 2nd pull which was successful. Pretty standard procedure, frost trap, concussion shot, tame.

Now I'm mostly scared he'll run away as he doesn't like me that much. I used all the food in my bags, but he was soon hungry again, luckily I was still at Ratchet and had some meat in bank. So then I just had my bankalt mail me more and logged off. Can't wait to grow our partnership. He sure is a live one! I named him Nightsky though Speedy Gonzales might have been more appropriate.

Today Saturday, April 11th 2020, after over 36 hours camping, at 10:37 am, i finally got him, but the funniest and sad thing that happened was what a player whose was camping with me, i am a 23 night elf from Benediction Server and he is an 23 orc hunter (Skeenah), well i will tell y'all the story, one day before there were 3 hunters, me that orc and another female troll hunter camping, the orc logged out and around 10 pm or so me and the Troll were there in that tree, Humar's spawning spot, and about 10:52 pm he finally re spawned, little Troll was faster than me and started tame immediately, i did a FairPlay and allowed her to tame, but of course i was cheering for her fail, what didn't happened, she got it with that ice trap trick thing, so i just congratulate her and clap for her success, because anyway one competition less. Now with the 8-12 hours re spawning time, i knew it more precisely when he will re spawn again, i went to sleep and woke up in the morning around 8 hours after her taming, 6:50 am, but she probably told the orc about that, and there we go, he was there camping with me during the 4 hours window, he tamed one of the lions around and while we wait he just kept log in and out time to time with that pet killing the others around, i thought he were just cleaning mobs for taming and when Humar shows up we could see who would be faster, but he had another intension and i didn't know that, when Humar spawned about 10:36 am, i thought, well he is with that pet, he needs to abandon first and start taming so i am in advantage i will start taming right away, so i did it, that's when the real true was revealed, he was planning all the time with that pet around, he just sent his pet close to me, to be caught by my ice trap instead Humar and i got killed by him, i got so frustrated because just that time i realize what he was planning and i started to run to my corpse right away furious, but guess what? When i got there and resurrect Humar was still there and that unfair orc was dead a little further from the tree laying in the ground, so i started over again and got him :), what probably happened is after Humar killed me he attacked him whose was too close and tried to run and probably got dazed by Humar's attack in his back and got killed, meanwhile i was already on my way back and got there in time to rez use my bandages, throw my ice trap use my concussive shot and start taming right away on the top of the tree as many other hunters got it, i just imagine his frustration when he got there, i already had gotten to tame Humar, and that clown had vanished without release his corpse or so, because i waited, oh boy, i waited, about 5 minutes, just to mock him, but he probably logged out furious with that unsuccessful and dirty action, so thats what i use to say, with dirt attitude comes no results at all, my vengeance couldn't be sweetest lol....

Tamed him yesterday on Westfall realm about 1500 Eastern Time. There was the corpse of another player nearby, but no one else in sight.

I dropped a freezing trap, abandoned my current pet, and then pulled with concussive shot. By the time the trap wore off, there were only about 8 seconds left on the tame.

I play on Crusader Strike (SoD) and trying to get this as alliance has been hell. There are horde camping it all the time and I already saw it being snatched in front of me.
Respawn seemed to be 8-10 hours ish. I've seen him twice around 9-10am.

I was parked there all day while doing other stuff on my other screen and didn't notice he had already spawned. When I alt tabbed, I saw a lvl 25 troll rogue attack him so I ran over to them to beg to please stop lol, but eventually the rogue died to Humar so after that I quickly froze him and tamed him. I was in complete adrenaline-rush and panic mode and forgot I had to abandon my old pet first and accidentally dropped my stack of meat instead of feeding it to him but hey, I got him.

I observed a 12 hours spawn. Tamed on Wild Growth 7:07 PM. Happy Hunting!

Tamed at 00:05 PST - Server: Living Flame. First time really playing WoW, currently a lvl 24 Hunter. I decided to look online to see what good pets you can get at my level and saw that Humar is a tameable pet. On my first visit to the spawn area I was expecting to have to wait, but he was just chilling when I got to the tree. No competition, no hassle. Used the freeze trap and got him first try. Idk if the respawn times got better, if he's less saught after now, or if I just got super lucky. Either way, happy to have such a cool looking pet cat!
