I've been farming these guys over the past week or so, i've killed 70 even.

Killed 32 of these guys so far, with some very close calls (I love health potions and felpuppies), but still no pattern. It's a shame they're not giving better exp or else I could at least comfort myself with the thought of leveling... but no.

After spending about three hours swimming around the Sons, looking for mossy lockboxes on which to pick locks, I was "treated" to a sight I'd rather not see again.

Keeping an eye on one Son as I swam nearby, I note the Son has stopped moving... normal enough.

But then he squats a bit while underwater and I swear... a BIG blue air bubble comes out his backside! He gets a grin on his face and resumes marching as the air bubble rises to the surface.

Really... there are some sick graphic artists in Blizzard's employ. Funny, but sick! :)

Killed one as a 60 rogue, with CD's. A bit lucky at the end but not that hard. They crit alot, 1K+

Lured both a Son of Arkkoroc and a Servant of Arkkoroc to where the Guardians could assist me with the beatdown. I did good damage to both but neither one was lootable. Attempted this solo as a level 52 rogue. Really wanted the Stormshroud pattern, but guess I will have to bring some guild mates along or wait and solo at a higher level without assistance from the Guardians. Open to comments about what may have gone wrong...

So a Son of Arkkoroc walks into a bar in Ironforge, and he's dressed pretty weird and the bartender isn't used to giants, but he thinks, well, whatever, his gold's as good as any nancy Night Elf's.

So he says "What'll it be, laddie?"

And the Son says "Gimme your best Stoutlager Pale Ale."

And the bartender pours him a tall one.

And the bartender looks at the Son of Arkkoroc's belt and notices he's wearing a steering wheel from a ship for a belt buckle. And he says "Hey Giant, what's up with the steering wheel there on your belt?"

And the Son of Arkkoroc goes "Arr, it's driving me nuts!"

for a hunter this is real easy, just shoot scorpid sting, heal your pet from time to time and shoot him till he's dead

lol guys, the easiest way is to pull the to the demon island let em attack, FD go back and watch...

make sure you do properly with dmg or you wont get the drop.

These guys can be described simply as monstrosities. While their health isn't that impressive for an elite, they will make mince meat out of you 400 damage at a time.

Hunters should be aware that they shrug off pet hate really fast, so be prepared to use feign death at least twice. Also, 99.9% of battles fought against these guys will be in water.

Got the Pattern: Stormshroud Shoulders on my first try.
Pretty easy to solo for a 60 rogue, just needed one evasion.

Like every time I go to the Hydraxian guy I kill this mob, and he always drops a good item. Major healing pots, greens, and the armor pattern.

I killed nearly 20 of these before i got the pattern. probably not going to sell it. Was trying if get it to drop so i can give it to a Rogue friend of mine.

As a Warlock i find killing them pretty easy unless there aint some lag that has usually been the case and not too much resists that will cause some serious trouble.

Heres what i do while fighting Son of Arkkoroc:
( First killed few lvls past 50, Affliction spec)

1. I dont use pet for anything else than mana (using Affliction Dark Pact skill) only make them attack at the end. Usually have Succubus or Imp out.
2. Make and use Soul/Health stones.
3. Start the fight of with a fear
4. Then cast Curse of Agony, Corruption and Siphon Life. Depending on the direction where it goes i cast Immolate if its in range.
5. When it gets near i might cast Curse of Exhaustion to slow it down (during this time swinning backwards to keep the distance) followed by a new fear. Usually just cast the fear although i might have to take a hit or two in the bad case.
6. Repeat this pattern until its dead. In the end use probably more Destruction spells.

Thought I make some addittions to my notes here since i just respecced to Demonology build (7 Aff/31 Dem/13 Des)

1. Make Healthstones and maybe even Soulstone if youre feeling its needed
2. Summon Voidwalker and Sacrifice it for the HP regen buff.
3. Start of with Fear. Use Curse of Shadow if you aint gonna use Curse of Agony. This to lower its resistance to Fear. (Aint sure if it helps,atleast got the picture it does.)
3. DOT it, Shadow Bolt it or whatever you like. Life Tap to gain mana while the Hp regen buff from sacrifice keeps you healthy.
4. Fear again and continue on the same thing youve beeing doing this far.

That island is a decent place to level fishing, take a break every few mins and kite one over..

They seem to be lvl 54-55. Crits can easily go for over 1k against a leatherwearer -- normal hits against a pet with over 6k armor can go up to 600 hp. Nearly 20 of them down so far, no pattern as of yet. Loot consists of Runecloth and Big Mouth Clams, just like the loot list indicates. They usually drop anything between 6 and 20 silver. If you intend to get the pattern, make sure you focus on the Sons alone. The Servants look exactly like them and there seems to be more of them around, so it's easy to get distracted by killing the wrong kind of giants. :/

EDIT: Dropped off the 20th for me as well. :)
They do shake off a Hunter's pet really fast like someone mentioned; what helped for me was to Wing Clip them, backing out and keep using Disengage. They usually turned back to my pet after the third Disengage, if it hit.

I went through 67 sons before the pattern dropped for me, terrible luck. Though, they weren't too hard to kill, they hit hard but die much faster. They have ~6k hp and have pretty much zero armor. They hit me for ~450, crit for ~900. A swing every ~2 seconds or so. Very easily stunlockable, I just circled the crater one too many times.

Also, these share the same spawns as the servents. I started out only killing the sons and I ran out of sons because the servents were there. So, I started killing the servents and sons came back. Servents have ~7k hp, mid range armor but don't hit hard. Both Servents and Sons did about the same ammount of damage over the course of the fights.

To be honest, the pattern probably isn't worth it but I made up my mind that I wanted it. So, I got it. As well as all the other Stormshroud set patterns, I'm Alliance Zuluhed. Contact Yorba!

Even if you aren't specificly going after the stormshroud pattern these seem like great mobs to farm if your in the mood for a little challenge. As a 56 frost mage I had no problems soloing these guys and got 22 silver on average per kill.

He went down really easy, but got a few crits in which left me in a bad way, I survived tho. But dissapointed I left empty handed :(

Tried to kill these as a 54 rogue as I wanted the LW pattern and was out there fishing for essence of water in the pools. In vanilla I would help my brother kill them faster with his warlock. (2 warlocks... gg)

Well, they crit hard when they crit so I can kill them but have to use my evasion CD and adrenaline rush. The other thing that's needed is to expose armor on them as they seen to have a LOT. At 54 I swear several times I had a pixel of health left if that. No LW pattern yet but on ~ 5th kill Shadowblade dropped and I sold it for 75g within an hour in the AH.

Now I log in... kill one with all CD's... then log out and play and alt for 5+ minutes. I also move each time to a new pool with the elemental water and kill the rare turtle (scalebeard) if he's up.

Think I've killed 30+ ATM and still no pattern. Bleah.

For all of you prospective farmers on HC servers trying to get Stormshroud Shoulders, these DO have a thrash mechanic. My hardcore rogue died at 60 in one auto after a 5 point kidney shot. Melee, melee(crit), melee, knock away for a total of 2.9k damage. The crit alone was for 1100+.
