You need to kill this guy and loot his letter for the lvl 10 undead(it seems to be race specific as I couldnt get the orc/troll one) rogue quest. He is friendly to hordes, but if you are on the quest you can talk to him which will make him hostile.
The quest is lvl 10 but the fight is quite hard for a lvl 10 so either wait till you level up a bit, get help from a friend or try, and hope to hit a lot. The fight is possible at 10.
He seems to spawn just outside of The Sepulcher, so if you cant find him on his patrol go wait at The Sepulcher.

I wouldn't say he is that though, evasion and killed him without losing even 50% hp.

He can be found walking btw Undercity and Sepulcher. Quest does not tell u where he is going to in Silverpine so its kind of confusing to figure out.

*edit* found him, he does take the roads, I was getting worried cause I had almost walked all the way to the Sepulcher from UC, turns out he had been walking the same way as me -_-'

i was kust reading the comments and switched to WoW and he was right in front of me, i got very lucky dis time. found him at (53,19)

I found him south of The Sepulcher. He is stationed and he doesnt do anything and u cant interact with him.

whats mean like /tloc 55, 76 what we do with it to find where is the one we are finding him for quest?

Lvl 10 and I got him. Here's my strat:
as soon as he attacks hit evasion, get 5 sinister strikes and blow your Eviscerate, gouge, sprint away, bandage, gouge, backstab and evisc. Was dead by then for me. Also used a minor healing potion when my evasion ran out.

Also did it at lvl 10. Better strategy - no Healing :]

Hit with sinister strike
Gouge
Run behind him and backstab
Hit him till your gouge recharges
Gouge
Run behind, wait till you have enough energy then backstab
Eviscerate
Regualar attack and sinister strike until dead.

No heals, finished with over 150 health left.

He is the quest guy for the undead rogue quest that starts in UC at level 10 (note that he is level 13).

I found Astor Hadren. He is in one location east of The Sepulcher. He doesnt do anything and you cant interact with him.

If you find him by the Sepulcher, you can pull him towards to the Sepulcher where the guards will help you kill him. I still had the terrible Forsaken Dagger when I hit 10 and had to face him, so i would have probably been toast without their help.

It seems like more skilled players can manage without this, but as the quest says, "I will leave the method of procurement to your discretion." so my "cleaver" discretion was let the brawn of the level 40 guard do the work!

item only drops once, no matter how many rogues are in a group. tried it duo and trio, just to be sure.

edit1: i didnt try it with a rogue that has already completed the quest, so no idea if they would still be considered to loot the item hence blocking it for someone else

Fun Fact: Killing him in Brill near a Deathguard will aggro them and will help you kill them. Managed to get him dead at Level 11 with no help or lucky crits that way.

For anyone playing in WoW Classic, please be warned: if a guard helps you kill Astor Hadren while on the Rogue quest "The Deathstalkers", you won't be able to loot him. I tried TWICE and got the same result. First time, I had help from one of the Abominations near the Wickerman site outside Undercity (was during Hallow's End), and couldn't loot him when he died. I didn't damage him myself, so I thought maybe it was that I didn't tag him. So I tried again down by The Sepulcher. This time a Deathguard helped me out, but I did some damage to him too. But I still couldn't loot him.

I eventually had to kill him by myself. I did it at level 10, using Gouge to give me a break to heal with a Linen Bandage halfway through my health. I also used Evasion very early in the fight. Made it out; but did get a few lucky crits in a row.

tl;dr; don't use a guard to help kill this NPC in WoW Classic, or you won't be able to loot him.

TLDR: 2 rogues can get the quest item off of a single spawn if one pickpockets and the other kills Astor

I was in a group with 2 other rogues today. We were helping each other get the quest done since he's a lvl 13. After reading these comments, I figured we'd have to wait 4 times for him to respawn. First rogue killed him, got the item and left. Second rogue did the same. Mob spawns again and I stealth to attack to help. However, I have a macro that auto-pickpockets. Turns out, I got the item from pickpocketing him, and the other rogue got it after killing him.
